Alex Ferguson faces selection headache up front. Wenger welcomes back Laurent Koscielny but is losing sleep over Thomas Vermaelen’s ankle knock. Roberto Mancini and Andre Villas-Boas contemplate throwing their new signings into the mix. Kenny Dalglish set to rekindle the Suarez/Carroll partnership against Bolton. Harry Redknapp adamant that Luka Modric will line up against City as the Croatian sorts his hamstring and his future at Spurs.

A reminder that these nuggets from around the Premier League grounds – all the team news leading into the weekend – is being collated and compiled for you via our team news section. Noteworthy additions are being flagged via our Twitter feed as usual.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Who to play? Long at home to Stoke or Jarvis away to Villa (read that he has a good history against them)

    1) Simpson at home to Fullham
    2) Bardsley, gimme another red, away to Swansea? He could have some chances against Swansea.

Poor advice, Riise may not be that badly injured but more importantly, De Laet is one of only two of these likely to play regularly.

    1st post, hello all!
my forward line is torres-bent-rvp. for days i was sure i was going to swap torres for suarez after captaining the former and watching his hapless performance against west brom. but now all the posters have guiltied me into leaving torres (admittedly kneejerky and ill-advised before norwich(h)). so if i really want suarez i'm now thinking should i drop rvp instead? Of course I got him with gw 4 and beyond in mind, but it's not too bad to change your mind for free...

I have all five of those players. I'm playing all three mids and benching Brown. However out of the mids I would bench Sess I think...just to spread between different games.

      Tough choices.

Is Moses fit for tomorrow? If so I'd definitely be playing him, hit the bar in the Swansea game, and didn't he hit the woodwork against Norwich too? He's been unlucky not to get some points I think. Then probably toss a coin between the other two.

I slightly favour playing Simpson and benching Brown, although I would be slightly tempted to play both and bench Sess and Sinclair as I think Swansea S'land will be a low scoring affair.

I could be crazy, but I reckon Moses(C) could be gold!

If he plays, he'll be Wigan's most dangerous player and has had more shots than any of his teammates.

That being said, Wigan-QPR could easily finish 0-0.

See - you are a little weak in your observational skills, sadly. I am not even a member.

I have never posted an opinion as a fact, although I have observed you do so yourself.

My thoughts may well be convoluted - good word, that - but you have no need to follow them, or even to comment on them. That is for my friends, of which I have a few.

Finally, there are one or two scouts who may even regard me as a troublemaker, so I'm afraid that you have completely missed your mark, here.

Go get that keyboard fixed, son.

thing about suarez captain is... bolton have started strong, kept a clean sheet vs qpr and only let in 3 against goal machines ManCity.

i might captain 'big game' rooney or 'assist machine' bosingwa.

    just a thought

to me, the captaincy should go to a player who starts the match

if your nominated captain comes on as a sub, the VC should get the armband... if they don't start either but come on as a sub then f*ck knows... was just an idea

There needs to be a clear definition of "short pass" and "long ball". There's a difference between passing the ball sideways with no real purpose other than keeping posession and quick short passing leading to a goal. Just like a long pass can be a good pass - a long ball doesn't necessarily mean hoof it up the field and hope to get the knock-down

Its pretty easy to tell the difference between a ball on the ground and a high one. Long and short are not that significant.

Its the manner in which they are delivered - on the deck or off the ground.

Bolton play more hoofs now than ever.

I thought it was a beautiful piece to illustrate how easy it is for people to be so misled......even Bolton fans going to watch them live love to point out how Bolton play more balls on the deck. When evidence says the opposite.

The power of the media and the message. Repeat something enough times and people will believe it. To the point where Coyle is not trying to attack a piece based solely on evidence.

In any other profession to write those words in public would call for ridicule. Yet it will be championed as a "good on owen standing up to that stats guy and his facts oe-er he wouldnt last a minute down the pit"

But as i was discussing with him on twitter the medias impression of them now and favor towards Coyle compared with "Big Sams Long Ball team" plays a massive part in the fans perceived attractiveness

Also has to be remembered Megson nearly relegated them so any improvement would be deemed more satisfactory

The power of the media and the message indeed. Zonal Marking is the media too. For you to just label Coyle a moron is just as misguided as someone to blindly say "Bolton play better football" or however you want to put it.

Long and short HAVE to be that significant as that's exactly what this piece alludes to the analysis being done on. I'm not defending Coyle or slagging Zonal Marking by the way, but Coyle has turned them from relegation fodder into (almost) a top-8 side last year before their late season collapse, and reaching the Cup Semi was something Megson didn't manage.

Oh and I saw Megson's Sheff Wed side at Gigg Lane the other week, and that was route-one at it's worst

Zonal marking is using stats which back up his argument. Its different from newspapers using subjective eulogies like "Coyle has got Bolton playing more football on the deck and more attractive play". He hasnt.

I agree Coyle has improved them. He would have to or they would have been relegated.

My point is on the methods he used to improve them. ie . More long balls and more fouls, cards , physicality and aerial duels.

A 50 year old man when presented by Stats which show clearly the side is more physical and plays many many long balls and responds by saying "Zonal marking whatever" as some form of 2 bit insult is a moron.

Im not blindly labeling him a moron.

Totally agree on the newspaper (and TV) point but I don't think Coyle deserves to be labelled a fool just for getting a bit pi**ed off at an interviewers question. Those same stats also show that there's a very small difference between Utd and Bolton when it comes to "long balls"

Anyway I'm off home now. All the best
