We open the Dugout Discussion for the final four fixtures of the gameweek, and the month, before we take our first International Break breather.

Newcastle versus Fulham kicks us off with the home side calling in Peter Lovenkrands for the now departed Joey Barton and Leon Best filling a Shola Ameobi sized void. The visitors meanwhile welcome Chris Baird and Matthew Briggs at the back with a host of changes made to their midfield and attack…

Newcastle XI: Krul, Simpson, Steven Taylor, Coloccini, Ryan Taylor, Lovenkrands, Cabaye, Tiote, Gutierrez, Obertan, Best

Fulham XI: Schwarzer, Briggs, Hughes, Hangeland, Baird, Dempsey, Murphy, Sidwell, Duff, Dembele, Kasami.

Half an hour later Spurs are left to pick themselves up from their defeat to Man United to welcome Man City for their first home game of the season.

Despite talk of an impending departure for Peter Crouch he lines up for ‘Arry with Luka Modric also in the mixer. Roberto Mancini rewards Micah Richards with a new contract and a place on the bench as he, Aleksander Kolarov and James Milner drop out for Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy and new signing Samir Nasri…

Spurs XI: Friedel; Corluka, Dawson, Kaboul, Assou-Ekotto; Lennon, Kranjcar, Modric, Bale; Van der Vaart, Crouch.

Man City XI: Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy, Barry, Yaya, Silva, Nasri, Aguero, Dzeko

The Dugout Discussion will be around for all four games as West Brom vs Stoke and, the big one, Man United vs Arsenal round out the day, week and month.

For you Sturridge doubters, Yes, he will start. Quote “The Portguese coach also praised England Under-21 striker Daniel Sturridge, who was on loan to Bolton in the second half of last season but looks set to feature in Chelsea’s plans this year.

“He has been sparking in this pre-season. It is nothing new, it is what he was doing in Bolton and he deserves his chance,” Villas-Boas said after seeing Sturridge score twice on Saturday.

“He has been showing his qualities and we will count on him this season with a different perspective.”

But that attitude is why United beat them (cue comments about Rooney's "dive"). He says that other sides were just in awe and gave them too much respect. A lot of top athletes, managers, clubs, etc. are arseholes, but like it or not it's part-and-parcel of having that winning mentality and belief.

I think there is a difference between playing tough against a good side and spreading venom in the media seven years later. Surely Manchester United could have beaten Arsenal without him reverting to racial sterotypes as fuel.

Richards will outscore Kompany by seasons end, still the better buy. The odd benching not a big deal, your gets a shift and most of the time our subs have been putting up excellent numbers.

I agree. I think Mancini will leave richards out when he wants more security in the back four ---> against top 4 opposition or the better teams within the league away from home

    Vorm, Given
    Bosingwa, Baines Enrique, Brown, Richards
    N’Zog, Silva, Sinclair, Moses, Hoolahan
    Torres, Bent, Long

I have 1 free transfer and was thinking of Torres to Bent but I could also do with getting out N’Zog, Hoolahan and Richards and trying to get in Dzeko, Agueroa or RVP. Should I make 1-2 transfers or WC? What do you recommend? Cheers!

that makes sense based on fixtures but Suarez and Rooney seem to be the most in-form strikers, playing really well against anyone and Dzeko or Aguero could be worth buying depending on their performances today?

but that gives me 5 strikers to choose from! all with pluses and minuses and I can only get 1 for Torres....?

Torres out for one of Suarez, Rooney and RVP. I would go with Suarez since he has form and his price is a bargain.

Rooney seems a safer pick than RVP based on form but fixtures are awful and if RVP avoids injury then fixtures against Swansea and Blackburn have loads of potential, plus the run of games afterwards is decent.

Thanks! Initially I was thinking Suarez for Torres and maybe getting another striker (Rooney/RVP/Dzeko/Aguero) for Bent or Long at a later date

Actually, he's the only one of that Chelsea team who isn't.

He played in the first half, on the right side of midfield, and we completely overran them, and went in 1-0 up.

He was subbed at half time for Gronkjaer, who pushed Ashley Cole back, and got them back into the game.

i honestly dont know how milner sticks man city...time and again he plays quality and has a good run of form only to be replaced imediately by a new signing...i know he is on good money but he is rapidly falling down the international pecking order.
