Recovered from Sunday? Knee perfectly rigid? Wildcard intact? Good. The morning has broken and, unlike the first morning, the FPL Bonus has been dropped into the game, revising our Gameweek three totals.

Here’s a quick glance at how the Bonus appears to pan out with our Gameweek review over on the FPL site to follow later today.

Aston Villa vs Wolves
Berra (3) Ward (3), Agbonlahor, Hennessey, Hunt (1)

One of only two matches where the bonus points were spread. Christophe Berra and Stephen Ward share the maximum with identical EA SPORTS PPI scores on the day. Gabby Agbonlahor was Villa’s top Index earner, sharing a single bonus point with Hennessey and Hunt of Wolves. Shay Given and Stephen Warnock just missed out on joining the party.

Blackburn vs Everton
Baines, Howard (2), Arteta (2)

Food for thought for those who are looking to free up some cash by shipping out Leighton Baines. Clearly, when Everton keep a cleanie, Baines is firmly in the hat for bonus points. He pips team-mates Howard and Arteta here in what was a very fortunate win for David Moyes’ side. Neville and Distin were just outside the bonus awards – Mauro Formica was Blackburn’s leading EA SPORTS PPI candidate.

Chelsea vs Norwich
Lampard, Bosingwa, Holt

No surprises here. Frank Lampard was back amongst the big scorers and, in any other Gameweek, would have attracted more Fantasy headlines. Jose Bosingwa’s renaissance continues with further bonus recognition, while Norwich are represented by skipper Grant Holt who just edges out Ramires to claim a single bonus point. Significantly, Juan Mata put in a strong EA INDEX PPI score (21) in just 34 minutes on the pitch.

Liverpool vs Bolton
Henderson, Skrtel, Adam

The three goalscorers share the bonus – again, perhaps not a major surprise. The absence of Luis Suarez will disappoint plenty however – with no goal or assist to show for his efforts, the Uruguayan’s display was not recognised by a strong EA SPORTS PPI leaving him well short of bonus recognition. A contentious issue and certainly this week’s major talking point when it comes to the bonus awards – would the old system had awarded Suarez bonus? We can only speculate but clearly, without a positive goal/assist contribution in the game, players like Suarez will struggle to overcome team-mates who do contribute goals/assists, on pure performance statistics alone.

Man United vs Arsenal
Young, Rooney, Van Persie

No real surprises here given the avalanche of points hoovered up by Young and Rooney. Robin Van Persie’s bonus over other United candidates will raise a few eyebrows given that he missed a first-half penalty. Clearly his goal and overall contribution was enough to see off Anderson who figured next in the EA SPORTS PPI from this match.

Newcastle vs Fulham
Best, Cabaye, Gutierrez

There can be no such quibbles here. Leon Best’s brace earns him maximum bonus recognition while Cabaye and Gutierrez – two of Newcastle’s most consistent performers so far this season, fetch the remaining supplementary points. Danny Murphy was Fulham’s top scoring EA SPORTS PPI performer on the day, behind a host of Newcastle players who dominated matters statistically.

Swansea vs Sunderland
Taylor, Brown, Rangel

Swansea’s attacking full-backs, so involved in the Brendan Rodgers masterplan, suck up two lots of bonus awards from the 0-0 draw with Sunderland. Interestingly, Taylor is now looks assured of starts following Alan Tate’s bizarre golfing accident. Wes Brown was again the standout performer for the visitors. Michel Vorm again registered a double figure EA SPORTS PPI score as his impressive season continues.

Tottenham vs Man City
Dzeko, Nasri, Kompany

City’s reborn centre-forward dominates, returning a huge EA SPORTS PPI score to claim the maximum bonus award. Samir Nasri’s hat-trick of assists has him placed in second on a fine City debut, while Vincent Kompany is again the top City defender on the index, claiming a single bonus, despite conceding. Gareth Barry and Yaya Toure were next for City in the rankings, with Tottenham’s Younnes Kaboul their only representative in the top ten from this match.

Wigan vs QPR
Di Santo, Rodallega, Boyce

Franco Di Santo’s brace has him well out in front when it comes to bonus awards from Wigan’s 2-0 win over QPR. Hugo Rodallega and Emmerson Boyce join the party in a Latics clean sweep. Shaun Derry was the visitors shining light as Wigan dominated the EA SPORTS PPI rankings here. Adel Taarabt again paying the price for off target efforts in a defeat – despite presenting QPR’s biggest threat on the day.

West Brom vs Stoke
Shawcross, Jones (2), Shotton (2)

A miserable display by the Baggies sees Stoke monopolising the bonus awards and the EA SPORTS PPI rankings. Tony Pulis’ side grabbed the three points with a late goal with Ryan Shawcross taking the defensive plaudits. Kenwyne Jones and goalscorer Ryan Shotton shared 2 bonus points, just edging out Asmir Begovic in the index.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I've posted this previously but I'll mention it again - the frequency of the price rises are not fully supported by the game and therefore we cannot turn around and claim there is a bug if a player does not rise as the community expected. While there clearly is an algorithm in place that governs price changes, this can be tweaked by ISM as they see fit and prices can be frozen as and when ISM choose to freeze them.

Mark has a little influence, he can flag a player as injured based upon a "rumour", and thus prevent the price rise or price drop.

Correct me if i am wrong. I doubt you would ever use this power though.

Seen some chat on here today regarding the uselessness of playing the fixtures. The classic thing with this strategy it is to have someone score big in an unlikely fixture early on, and then give up the method entirely because it didn't work for you at the start. I will keep doing it because it's a 38 week game and I believe that over time, it would have been better than if I didn't do it.

That's not the same as triumphing every week and having your strategy continually rewarded to the misery of all your friends who are casual players; it means that if you stick to it, over time you will be rewarded.

i don't understand why you're talking differentials at this stage of the season... its about picking the right team. You're not trying to catch anyone up at this stage. Incidentally if you want an answer i'd go Dempsey especially with VDV out. Although Demspey is over priced.

RvP didn't have a terrible game, a mediocre penalty and a easy goal put away. There nothing much you can do when a team is playing with 8 players missing and a painfully weak and incompetent defense when you're a striker, to call him 'a joke' is fairly harsh.

Cmoon If your team lose 8-2 and you miss a penalty and even you score the goal which is result for someones good assist you shouldn't get the Bpoints thats for sure. BP system is totally joke. BP system should engourages to pick players who play well even they don't get assist or goals.

no. just because a player starts on the field doesnt automatically make him an equal chance of getting the points. Rooney's got set pieces/penalties and if you saw the game you could make the assumption he has hit a little patch of form. so no, definately not.

Too early to say yet surely? I have heard some say Silva was a touch deeper than usual, but he seemed to still get a couple of good shots on goal and generally seemed to be very active in the final third.

Nasri got 3 assists, but was playing in a team that was buzzing against a very poor tottenham. It'll be interesting to see if he carries his form. For what its worth, I've always thought of Nasri to be the kind of player who needs those around him playing well, whereas Silva can make things happen on his own. Just my opinion though 🙂

No Dzeko price rise this morning, but he is +200% on TotalFPL.

Can he rise 0.2 tomorrow or will the rise only be 0.1 and the surplus trade ins are ignored?

argh. so potentially the figure can go up to 300% or 400% and by tomorrow everyone will have Dzeko and no more price rises for the rest of the season? 😀

I'm slowly but surely losing all interest in FPL this season... it's been an absolute shambles and they still haven't sorted all the issues out. Why no price rises over night? So wish I had also enterered the Metro or something, as I'd just dump FPL right now.

Clearly FPL knew that everyone would get in a load of city/utd players given the results of yesterdays games so to counter that, they just shut up shop (or "updating" as they like to use) so they save on the price updates for a day.

Ha RVP bonus in an 8-2 THRASHING - nice bonus points there, well deserved. Thankfully this week they have benefited me with an extra 12 points but I hate them already. How can you justify bonus to a guy who's shipped 8 goals not to mention missing a pen!

Fat Frank got me 26, making it very difficult for me to get rid, even though i want to save the 2.5 with Mata.

Good news: seems this bp rule works in some occasions, 0-0s result in points for defenders.
Bad news: i had Ward and Brown on my bench.

His English was fine, the problem is oversensitivity. I'd understand (though not agree with) an old survivor of the 1940's Jewish Holocaust was objecting to the usage. This isn't that, it is the creeping perma-offended cult members spotting their version of a bandwagon.

Would have thought Adam having a goal and an assist he'd take the share of bonus points over the other two goal scorers?

Little worried about Suarez's lack of killer instinct in front of goal so far. The chance against Sunderland where he earned and then missed the penalty and the chip against Bolton that just went over both should have been converted. Maybe it's a lack of sharpness or perhaps just two poor decisions because otherwise he's looked a right terror

clearly dzeko is on form but who do you guys see as the city striker for the season? you think dzeko will stay on form all season or will aguero have another big game and catch fire? or theres the possibility of tevez coming in at some point and doing some damage and earning a starting spot. ahhh the uncertainty!

If they were the same price I'd prefer Aguero, but as they're not, I kinda think Dzeko edges it.

but who do you see being the top scorer in the long run? only was able to see the highlights but I'll admit that dzeko was class today! however seems like he at least partially relies on service from nasri (or whoever else) whereas aguero seems to be able to create for himself a bit more

Aguero has never been an out and out front man, whereas Dzeko is pretty much the only credible candidate in that role.

I think Dzeko will score more, if for no other reason than most times, he will be in the middle, and Aguero will be a bit wider.

I think Rooney for instance, is one of those picks where, if you had put him in from the start, you would have kept him in. I started with him but if i hadnt then i would have found it very difficult to ignore WBA at home followed by Norwich at home. At the end of the day it didnt work out like that, but thats football, and if you weigh up the difference between having Torres c instead of Rooney c over those games, that points difference is huge.

And thats just one player, difficult to be on the receiving end but onwards and upwards, that is after all why we love the game.
