UEFA Champions League Fantasy Game Goes Live

With the August transfer window now firmly closed, the thirty-two clubs participating in this season’s Champions League have subsequently entered their official squads to UEFA.

The tournament kicks off on Tuesday September 13 – that’s a week today – and Fantasy managers will be pleased to know they have the option of another game to test their managerial abilities – the UEFA Fantasy Champions League has opened for business, allowing you to consider the merits of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and, of course, Alberto Aquilani for your fifteen-man squads.

This season we will not only be re-opening the Scout League (code: 212-74) for another title tilt but will be setting aside the regular Scout cap and donning a beret, fedora or perhaps even a Ushanka in order to provide coverage of the tournament over the course of this season. Whether it’s the continental glamour tie of Barcelona vs Milan or the perhaps slightly less appealing APOEL vs Zenit, every game will get some level of mention with player picks thrown in as we go.

Keep your eyes peeled across these here pages in the days to come for more information, then, but for now, let us begin tinkering with our new squads and relish the joys of being able to line up Wayne Rooney and co alongside our favourite players from La Liga, the Bundesliga and beyond.

    Anybody else tempted to go with Silva and Nasri? Looking at others in that price range.
    Mata - not sure of his position yet, two tough games could be switched in 2 weeks with whoever is performing less well.
    Walcott - Injury doubt and could always be rotated with the CL and the new signings plus doubts over Arsenal in general.
    Young - Great form and looks great at the mo but still Man U's fixtures look tough and Rooney would still seem to be enough.

    City are the only team out of the big lot with form and fixtures and seeing as Nasri and Silva both look like they have the potential for assists and goals I may go with both.

    Annoying that Ward, RTaylor, Anderson and Petrov all look unlikely to go up another 0.1.

    Pretty settled on this team now, although wish I had the funds to do Arteta>Young

      Pretty standard but by no means a criticism. Personally would be tempted to save the .5 on Given to change De Laet to Brown who rotates with Simpson.

      Only difference from mine is SilvaBarton. The lack of 8m options is a worry if Arteta doesn't work out, but I am prepared to give him a go.

      Given and Vorm do not rotate at all, they antirotate if anything.

      I can't justify Kompany either, zero clean sheets so far, zero attacking threat - I have Ward instead and that's allowed me Young over Arteta (Krul over Given).

    I really don't think Arteta will do that well in FPL terms however the majority on here seem to think he will. By picking Arteta over Silva/Mata though I do get a better pick in defense. Worth it?

      Having two villa attacking players might be putting too many eggs in one low-scoring basket, so maybe one of N'Zog and Bent should go? Bent to Dzecko? N'Zog to Brunt?

      I have Lampard too and I'm itching to get rid of him but he's not actually a major problem. I also have Sinclair and don't like that he is getting very close to a drop in price.

        I know what you about villa, there fixtures are still pretty good though i think you're right. I have lamps but i dont mind having him cause hes a good source of points from chelsea, his only problem is his value. I'm wanting in some city coverage.
