Petr Cech gives Chelsea some cheer and may be ready in time for this week’s trip to Sunderland. Sir Alex Ferguson lauds Anderson’s recent fine form and may have Danny Welbeck back sooner than expected. Everton’s new boys have their say at a press unveiling while Alex McLeish remains sceptical over Darren Bent’s availability ahead of Aston Villa’s game at Everton. Here we go, folks- this morning’s Scribbles:

Everton’s two new loan signings were in determined mood when introduced to the press yesterday. Royston Drenthe is clearly agitated that his time at Real Madrid didn’t quite pan out as expected and expressed his delight at a move to Goodison:

I have something to prove because my time at Real Madrid has ended already. It ended a year ago. After this year I am not a Real Madrid player any more because this is the last year of my contract. When my agent told me I could sign for Everton, I was like ‘thank you God’. I am really happy I can make this step in my future.

Denis Stracqualursi, the Toffees new centre forward, knows what is expected of him from a footballing and domestic perspective and reckons he won’t suffer from the same issues that have affected compatriot Carlos Tevez in Manchester:

“I’ve seen Everton play and I’m aware that they like to have a big striker, who is good in the air and up for the physical battle. I like to think I am like that and I hope I can score some goals for them.”
I don’t think I will have any problems settling in here. My family are not here, but they will be joining me soon and I don’t expect they will have any problems either. The cold, I’m not so sure about.

Danny Welbeck is hoping to return to training next week. The Man United forward was expected to be out for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury suffered in the home game with Arsenal but has given Sir Alex Ferguson an unexpected boost by recovering well ahead of schedule.

Petr Cech is also in line for a quick comeback. The Chelsea keeper was injured in a training ground accident last month and it’s no coincidence that his side have failed to record a clean sheet in his absence. Cech is reported to be in line for a shock comeback at Sunderland this weekend.

QPR owner Tony Fernandes yesterday hinted that the club’s reported interest in David Beckham is serious. Beckham is out of contract with LA Galaxy come November and it seems the club are mulling over an offer to bring him back to the Premier League. Fernandes tweeted yesterday:

‘I think having someone like David [Beckham] in the club would be great. Was always in my thoughts. Let’s see.’

Thomas Vermaelen also took to twitter to clarify his latest injury. It had been reported the Belgian could be out for at least two months with an Achilles problem but he explained the issue was with his ankle and expected to be out for half the time:

“Yesterday I had a small procedure to take out my plantaris tendon. Just to prevent it becomes a big problem. Back training in 4 weeks.”

Sir Alex Ferguson has been praising Anderson in an interview with Man United’s club magazine Inside United. The Brazilian’s stand-out start to the season suggest he’s finally living up to the expectations, four years after the club signed him from Porto:

He’s been tremendous, the boy. He’s had a couple of long-term injuries which haven’t helped him, but in the last year or so, he’s steered clear of injury. That means he’s training every day so his fitness levels are much better. And he’s maturing so you can see the consistency in his game.’

Alex McLeish is unsure of Darren Bent’s availability for this weekend’s trip to Everton. The forward withdrew from the England squad this week with a groin problem and Big Eck admits he’s dubious over his star striker’s availability:

It is touch and go. We will be working around the clock to try and get him fit for the Everton game. But at this moment he is injured and that is a fact. You never know by the weekend. We don’t think it is too serious and it is not going to keep him out for a while.

Neil Warnock has hinted he may hand Shaun Wright-Phillips a free role within the QPR system. After years of frustration at Chelsea and Man City, the deadline day signing looks set to be a key member of Warnock’s first XI and finally be given the game time to prove himself:

I think Shaun can play all over midfield really, within the system, so he’ll have a free role in the side. He can play on the right, the left, a little bit like Tommy Smith does, and also in the hole behind the striker. Adel Taarabt as well; he played on the left against Wigan and I thought he did well. It gives us options, which is crucial.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Didn't looks like a serious injury, I think he'll still start personally, not much to go on mind.

He has 2 home games and is on free kicks and pens, even if he doesn't start the game this weekend he has a nice fixture next GW.

Looking at price change falls and Aguero's @ 68%... views on whether he will get to 100% and price drop to 10.9... looking for advice from those who understand this a bit better than me...

Also why are players protected... i.e agbonlahor

He's protected, because transfers in have to hit a certain threshold. It happens to players that start the season with virtually no owners.
      for example:
a player is owned by only 2,000 people, but then scores a hat-trick and 3,000 jump on him....should be go up in price cos of the few people that got him? - no....
the site waits normally 10 days for the "interests" to go up before releasing the "protect" flag...

    Current team:

    Hilario, (Vorm)

Warnock, Bosingwa, Kompany (Simpson, De Laet)

    Sess, Silva, Young, Hoolahan (Dyer)

    Rooney, Dzeko, Bent

Are they the right people to bench?

Any obvious captaincy choices that ive missed?

I'm currently thinking Silva(C) as Nasri's possibly injured so should snap up all the mid points and Dzeko's a rotation risk... thinking about rooney or young but i dont think it will be a walkover away at bolton...

Contemplating Bent > RVP and downgrade sess but would be a 8pt hit... worth it?

    Transfer activity observations

There are broadly two types of transfer:

    1. Post GW deadline (Sat / Sun night) – kneejerk transfers
These transfers are based on performance in the games that have just been played. There were several classic examples of this post-GW3 dealine (Rooney, Dzeko, Young and Nasri). As a by product, players may need to make additional transfers either to release funds or as part of a wildcard – in this case players who have performed well over the season to date at their position / price point will also come into play (in this case Jarvis is the classic example – best performing mid-priced midfielder).
    2. Pre-GW deadline (Fri night / Sat morning) – team set up transfers
These transfers are based on a combination of factors: performance in last game and to date (as above) plus (i) injuries / suspensions – i.e. people see an orange or red indicator next to their player (or may have even read about the issue) causing people to transfer a player out and (ii) fixtures that GW. Therefore, for example, where transfers post GW3 have so far been focused on players who did well last GW, on Friday / Sat we will start to see a shift towards Arsenal players, notably RVP, Arteta and, subject to injury reports, Walcott

i only make early transfers for price rise reasons, if there is a hot prospect there. at the end of the season it can make a difference of 1.5 per value.

From my reading of FISO, every single price rise requires approx 32k NTI, whereas it used to be that a second weekly rise required 64k, a third 96k etc. So player prices can now go up by more that 0.1 per week very easily. Unless it's just a mistake in the system and FPL fix it.

Prices are going up for every 36k NTI as opposed to first 0.1 needs 36k, then another 72k (i.e. total 108k), then another 108k like it was last year.

Also just because you don't know the rules, doesn't mean someone else is making them up.

there is nthn shoking about everton, they lost arteta whom they lose like 20 games every season, and sold a striker that scores 5 goals per season max.
in return they brought a tough battling left midfielder which is a position they didnt have anyone since the sale of pienaar (and please dnt mention that 10million pound useless russian) and a big striker who will be either a boselli or a rodallega.

One factor that seems to have been overlooked in the wake of the arsenal spanking is that utd are a completely different team home & away. After 3 games they've picked up where they left off last season, embarrassing defences at old trafford but struggling to put away weaker sides on the road.
History suggests they'll struggle vs bolton & stoke regardless of how well they played at home vs tottenham & arsenal.
Obviously that doesn't mean rooney and/or young wont be involved in away goals. Just seems the struggle to overcome west brom in gw1 and last seasons away record has been forgotten.

its an old habit for SAF to involve the new players immediatly in the starting 11 for a run of 5-10 games, depending on how much they need to settle, and then start rotating. young seems to have found his role in this team. valencia and park are quietly waiting and soon all of a sudden u will see them start infront of young for couple of games or when CL starts and the roation with it.

having their difficult run of fixtures in mind, id only go for rooney

Bolton are far better at home than they are away, and they gave City a good run for their money in the 3-2 defeat.

I like the keeper combination for being different.

Solid back 3, although I'd go Hutton over Enrique (I just think Villa will be better off defensively).

Cahill and Arteta are risks, and if you're not taking RvP and Rooney up top, you need to make sure of your mids.

I like the front 3 a lot, although you may want to wait on Adebayor.

Also ignore anyone that tells you your team is rubbish just because its different.

          2007: 29 games
          2008: 35
          2009: 35
          2010: 33

that looks pretty much nailed for me

Red card last season too which kept him out for 3 games!

Given Jenkinson's performances thus far I would say so. Even with Eboue there he'd have started the vast majority.

Yeah, but he used to miss the occasional easy game at home, (since even Eboue couldn't screw that sort of game up), and they have 4 easy peasys in the next 6.

Yeah that was just to rotate, I'm sure that will happen this season too. But he's near enough nailed on, although he don't think he represents value at 6.5 as he offers little going forwards.

        Krul (Vorm)
Kompany Bosingwa De Laet (Brown Dunne)
        Walcott Johnson Hoolahan Wright-Phillips (Petrov)
        Dzeko RVP Rooney

It's just for one week, and then hopefully Jarvissinho will be back for the QPR game.

My team is more glamourous though, and ultimately that's all that counts.

Well, so here is the thing...

I still have Torres + Carroll... the way I see is that I need to stick with these useless fat cones in order to catch up. Is there any logic in my thought?

I guess Torres will be fired for RVP because enough is enough, but I am risking to stick to Carroll.

    Any ideas

    Given, Ruddy
    Bosingwa, Kompany, Senderos, Brown, Simpson
    Silva, N'Zogbia, Sinclair, Malouda, Moses
    Torres, Bent, Holt

Advise? some big problems, regret not using my wildcard last week!

2 free transfrers, 1.5M in the bank. Malouda and Torres seem to be the big problems.

        Agree with RVP and Young.

RE: 16ShimiC16 - I don't think he should WC now considering he has missed out all all the price rises and drops, use your 2 free transfers and you will be fine.

I really hope that Nasri is ruled out with his poorly hand. I need to pick 2 from Nasri, Silva and Young for my WC team and this would make the decision so much easier. Currently going with the two City players but even a doubt would push me over the edge to Young!
