Leighton Baines looks like being fit for Everton this weekend, as does Theo Walcott for Arsenal. Darren Fletcher declares himself fit and raring to go, while Luis Suarez pleads not to be rested. New QPR star Joey Barton praises the Newcastle fans and Steve Bruce talks up the talents of the shy and retiring Nicklas Bendtner. Here’s today’s Scribbles, folks:

Reports this morning suggest Leighton Baines will be fit for Everton’s weekend clash with Aston Villa. Having limped out of England’s training camp with a hamstring problem, the left-back was expected to be unavailable for the game but it appears he is well on schedule to now feature. David Moyes received some bad news on the injury front to temper his cheer- Victor Anichebe could be out till Christmas with a groin tear.

Steve Bruce has been talking up Nicklas Bendtner ahead of this weekend’s home clash with Chelsea. The pair, of course, have linked up previously, when Bruce took the Dane on loan while manager of Birmingham and the Black Cats boss applied a little flattery while speaking to the Sunderland website:

There’s no doubt that he has terrific ability, and we might just have got him at the right time. He’s got something to prove and a real hunger to show people just how good he is. Maybe he has lost his way a little bit over the last couple of years but I’m convinced this is the right move for him. Nicklas is a very naturally gifted footballer.

Arsene Wenger received some good news on the injury front ahead of Saturday’s match with Swansea. Kieran Gibbs and Theo Walcott are set to be fit and available for selection as the Gunners look to bounce back from their 8-2 hammering at Old Trafford.

Steed Malbranque is looking for a swift return to the Premier League. The Frenchman played just 26 minutes for new club St Etienne before announcing his retirement but changed his mind after the club cancelled his contract. Now a free agent, the former Sunderland player would relish a return to England’s top-flight.

Bryan Ruiz has vowed to repay the faith shown in him by Fulham, with the club paying over £10m for his services before the closure of the transfer window. The big-money buy from FC Twente spoke to the club’s official website:

I know that a lot is expected of me but I’m here to make a difference – I want to do all I can for Fulham. The club paid a lot of money for me, I know that, but it is a responsibility I am willing to carry. I will react positively and hopefully I can take the chance that I have been given.

It’s been reported that Samir Nasri is expected to play for Man City against Wigan on Saturday. The Frenchman broke a finger on international duty and despite endless speculation via the likes of twitter for much of yesterday, City have yet to comment.

Ahead of his QPR debut against old club Newcastle, Joey Barton has vowed to show some respect. There’s no lack of irony that the midfielder will face Alan Pardew’s side in his first game in QPR colours in Monday night’s Loftus Road showdown and Barton was nothing but complimentary to the club’s supporters:

The fans were brilliant at Newcastle. In my last couple of seasons there, they’ve supported the football club through thick and thin. I’ll always have a relationship with them. What’s gone is gone. I’m never going to say a bad word about the football club or the fans. I wish them every success.

Darren Fletcher is eyeing up a return to the Man United first-team after coming through two lots of ninety minutes on international duty this past week. The midfielder looks to have finally put his struggles with a mystery virus behind him and is ready to challenge the likes of Anderson and Tom Cleverley for a place in the starting XI.

I feel good and I’m ready to go back to my club now and somehow get back into that team. I don’t think I’ll walk into the team but I’m ready to play. The team are performing so well just now so I don’t think the manager will be making too many changes. I’ve got to be patient and wait for my chance but I’ve been in that situation before and I know what it’s all about.

Alex McLeish has played down fears of a troubling groin problem for Aston Villa keeper Shay Given. The Irishman has battled the injury during the start of the season and took a knock to his back while on international duty but Big Eck expects him to be fit and ready for the trip to Everton this weekend.

Luis Suarez has insisted he is anything but fatigued ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Stoke. The Uruguayan has been eased back into domestic action by Kenny Dalglish after a summer of Copa America duties and has yet to play ninety minutes for the Reds.

I want to play in all the games I can for Liverpool. I don’t want any rest at all. Despite only having that week’s training before playing again, I’m only 24 so I felt good.

With Javier Hernandez looking likely to start this weekend at Bolton, Wayne Rooney has been praising his fellow forward. Worryingly for the rest of the Premier League, Rooney feels playing alongside the Mexican means he’ll only get better this year:

Me and him do a lot of finishing after sessions to try and keep progressing and getting better. It’s great to have a lad who has just come into the team, who speaks good English and is always smiling. It’s great for him and for me to have someone like that. I think we can both learn from each other.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Yeah could be worth it actually, fans will want a lot of action to celebrate the stadium. Notts love to attack as well so they'll leave gaps. Going to be a great experience for them!

He's played all minutes of Chelsea's first 3 games, so perhaps he's close to starting most games under AVB?

mikel is the only natural defensive mid, i think his position is the most secure in the chelsea squad along with terry chech and cole.
if he is to be droped, it would be for experimenting new tactics in an easy game, otherwise meireles and ramires will rotate.
rememebre that meireles wasnt anywhere near being avb's first choice. and he sold him once he arrived to porto for not much money (relatively)

Yes, yes, yes, all this good newson teh injury front means I can rest easy, my team to get me back on track is still available

    Krul

    Johnson Enrique Bosingwa

    Nasri Mata Walcott Arteta

    Sturridge Rooney Dzeko

    Vorm De Laet Dyer Simpson

You can say what you like about sturidge, he's my punt and I'm so sure he will start at teh weekend and will explode and be undropable. I feel AVB highly rates him, which is why he didn't go out on loan, AVB has been playing him as a pincing winger on the left hand side of the striker during training. Him and Mata are probably gonna get the best out of Torres as well.

Yeah, the doubling up on arteta and walcott was the result of a bunch of decisions around rooney, Young, RVP, Walcott and Arteta being good value in my eyes. It;s teh same with Mata + Sturidge, I think one will be dropped over the next coupl of weeks, gives me chance to see what other players come good (been a very strange start to the season)

Been an incredibly strange start, one I've been very fortunate with to be honest. I marked you down just for slight rotation risks, but I think you're more likely to field a full team than me although looks like Baines will be alright thank god.

I think you've balanced your money well for the season, usually midfield is where you want most of your money. I'd expect you to be able to make the key transfers over the next few weeks.

Lots of punts in there, they wont all pay off. get some stability in there. I assume you are WC cause you can't have gotten all those players from teh start. Back to teh drawwing board TBH

      I'd get rid of

      Lucas
      Drenthe
      Crouch
      stracqu.....
      reo coker

      Evans
      Knight

In fact l;ets go teh opposite way

      keep

You need some Man City coverage, theres five to choose from and two is not over kill. (Aguero, Dzeko, Tevez, Nasri, Silva)

If you are not on WC, I would suggest you play it.

          Not generic, good!

Makes me laugh this generic talk. Lets go out of our way and create a non generic team for the sake of not having a generic team.

Plus my advise was anything but telling him to have generic team, it was to get soem stability in the team, you know where they play every week, are the attacking focus of their team. rather than getting 6-7 putnts, who may nlot play, who may not even settle in the prem and even if they do, won't score more than 2 points every week.

he asked for advsie and got quite alot TBH, I've not ssen teh volume of responses like this in a while for RMT

Played my wildcard this week after an appalling start to the season.

      New team:
      Given, (Vorm)
Jose Enrique, Smalling, Taylor S, Bosingwa, (Ward)
      Brunt, Young, Arteta, (Dyer, Jarvis)
      Rooney, Suarez, Dzeko

Wondering now Jarvis and Given are doubtful whether it's a good idea to keep them
      Any other comments welcome?

Krul in for Given, Jarvis out for someone cheaper and then upgrade a Brunt.

B will get you more points. I'd keep Simpson over Santon and use the 0.5 elsewhere.

Anyone know anything of Kranjcar and his injury/selection chances? I need a midfielder under 6.3 and he looks like a risky but potentially good option considering VDV is out for 6 weeks...

      Right guys, currently I have:

      Arteta/young/Silva/Jarvis/Dyer

Not too happy with it cause of the following:

Young-Only got him in to cash in on the price rises. I do have Rooney

Arteta-Thinking about the Arsenal coverage situation. He is a way in although I suspect Walcott is the better option

      Jarvis is a doubt

So given that it seems I have enough cash but struggling with the combinations.

      Any help please?

It was a running joke with a my house mate. It's from an episode of scrubs where two guys had the same name. Although our use of it was from a drunken night after a 5 a side game when our teams came head to head. Crap and meaningless name to everyone else, but a reminder of a good day out with an old bud! 🙂

Like everyone else, going for 3 big up front costs your midfield.

It may work, but suspect you will kicking yourself in a few weeks time, when you have to take some hits to get your squad balanced again.

I think you need to decide between RVP and rooney or if you must have both then Dzeko needs to be downgraded, lots of cheep options out there.

With eth money you could upgrade to one big hitter in Midfield or even two if you choose wisely.

My final WC decision basically comes down to:

      RVP and Brown
      or
      Suarez and Sagna

Leaning towards the first option but Suarez terrifies me :/

Quick WC rate my team please guys.

      Krul/Vorm

      Boswinga/Kompany/Simpson/De Laet/Enrique

      Mata/Walcott/Silva/Tychoi/Dyer(swan)

      Rooney/Dzecho/Ruiz

      Any improvements to be made?

Was thinking Ruiz a risk so Ruiz>Adebayor which would mean Walcott>Arteta
