Having been stalled by the international break and a glamorous trip back to Manchester, I take my seat alongside Mark in the studio once again, desperately wrestling for air time against the prolific gabber spewed from the ScoutCast host. Mark tries to be on his best behaviour in this episode, knuckles wrapped by a frustrated listener deprived of my pearls of wisdom by his constant interruptions, you can sense the intense effort as Mark holds his silence.

It’s not easy; once again we’ve a contentious issue to discuss – Rooney’s dubious assist back in Gameweek three still nags away at those without the folically challenged hot-shot. The new assist ruling gets the ScoutCast treatment then, accompanied by the usual half-arsed analysis of the Gameweek fixture list and the likely protagonists involved.

Click here to see if Mark holds his tongue.

    Guys what do you reckon:

    Given Kenny
Smalling Boss Shawcross Jose S Taylor
    Young Silva Brunt Jarvis Dyer
    Ade Dzeko RVP

On the WC, just knne jerked in Ade, beforehand i had Fletcher in there and SWP and Barkley in the midfield

I don't think Brunt will get much from the next two away games tbh... especially with the injury troubles WBA have up front.

One too many 5.0+ defenders downgrade one and you can have Saurez instead of Ade.

Anderson and Barton. WBA are quite defensive and missing their strikers as mentioned above. Meireles is coming back from a shoulder injury in the last Liverpool match. I'll also be surprised if he starts straight away for Chelsea.

      which comeptition?
(is it one where you get points for every kicker? cos there are a few out there who arent 10's (as well as yachvilli who you alreaduy have there are people like patterson, o'ccnnor, the georgian scrum half was last wc)

looks like you're doing the fox one - i'd replace bod with a kicking ten or a centre from australia/ enzed this round of matches - they will score bucketloads

think you are too late for transffers for round one though

looks like unlimited transfers between rounds, so check fixtures for next set & see who the minnows are playing

richie gray is a good call, warburton will score a lot more points in the rest of the welsh games than in this one, smit shouldnt be playing for the saffers & is likelty to be subbed

i'd probably look at census, schwalger, carizza & brown

      ive gone with
      jacobson, ross, figallo
      tincu, smit (wanted du plessis)
      kalou(fiji), gray, smith (usa)
      o'brien, brussow, pocock, hairydonkey
      yachvilli, blair
      cooper, carter, wilko, steyn
      beale, toeava, dagg, nalaga (fiji)

i think beale is in with a great shout of being top try scorer in the competition

    Chaps I need some advice. . . .

I have 4 players who are doubtful (Given, Richards, Jarvis and Long).

I used my free tansfer early to get rid of VDV.

I have Smalling, R. Taylor and Dobbie on the bench.

Now i dont have a problwm with bringing Smalling or R.Taylor in.

Dobbie is where my problem lies. He doesnt start and Swansea are away from home.

Im looking at Tarrabt for a -4 point hit BUT to get him in i'd have to trasnfer out Jarvis and then deal with Dobbie at a later date.

Do i take the hit or do I stick with Dobbie as my potentail 3rd sub?

Help me Obi-Wan, you're my only hope.

Thats a bad nmove TBH, if you do that, your most expensive midfielder will be N'zogbia. You will end up taking hiots to rebalance you side in a few weeks.

You should be looking to take money out of attack and into midfield rather than the other way around.

I would suggest walcott and dzeko.

Thanks for that. I was concerned about the relative weakness of my midfield and had considered Walcott and RVP, before I decided to hang on to Baines.

Trying to make last tweaks for tomorrow.
    RMT

    Given - Vorm
Simpson - Ward - Bosingwa - Taylor (SWA) - De Laet
    A. Young - Nasri - Petrov - Brunt - Ferguson
    RVP - Suarez - Rooney

Going with heavy front and few killer midfielders, which means mostly 4.0 defence.
    Option: Petrov -> Dyer & Simpson/Taylor(Swa) -> Enrique

I like to take Young, because he is easy to change/downgrade to other options (e.g. Mata) in later gameweeks with only one transfer.

It's a toss up between Dzeko and Suarez in my view. Aguero is the most expensive and at most risk of rotation of the 3. I have both but would go Dzeko as he has better fixtures and is £1m less. However, he is also a rotation risk and Suarez is more nailed on.

Wildcard played this week so made about 100 transfers so far. Along with others trying to play catch up a bit so putting my faith in RVP. What are peoples thoughts on this?

    Vorm (I know...) Ruddy
Bosingwa Kompany Baines (R Taylor De Laet)
    Jarvis Barton Silva Barkley (Ferguson)
    RVP(c) Rooney Dzeko

I know Jarvis and Baines could be injured. I think Baines will definitely play though (i'm an Everton fan). After Evertons two home games will downgrade Baines and free up some cash to upgrade the midfield a bit. Not sure about Barton?

I understand that and would normally agree but just badly want Barkely in my team (being an Everton fan). I would do much better if I supported a team in the championship! Joking aside though Barkley could be a steal as the season goes on, always looking for a forward pass and not afraid to shoot from distance. Rotation worry though being 17.

On Total FPL, is it the minimum that has to be at 100%+ for a player to rise? I am confused.

It just means the current percentage is somewhere between the min and max.

Already got RVP for Arsenal cover. Ramsey might be slight overkill. Taarabt seems also a possible option.

Good call! Due to rise soon too! I forgot about him as I already have 3 City players.

I had 7.4 to spend yesterday on my WC team - opted for Nzog. Some good fixtures - but part of me fancies Barry. Will decide tonight I think before he rises!!!!

Barry is a better choice IMO.

According to Total FPL, he's still only up to 91% on min... I'm not sure how it works. He's 143% on max though. :S

I was also wondering if FPL have capped it at 3 rises per GW or something, but I hope not!

I have him for now. He's probably as nailed on as you can get for Man Utd central midfield, but with Fletcher, Carrick, Giggs and Park all waiting for games, some rotation is inevitable. Seems to be safe at the moment but he's one of those players that you'll have to be prepared for missing the odd game, so have good options on the bench.

Play Vorm (ARS away), or take a 4 point-hit and get Krul (QPR away)

Why get a Keeper playing away at a cost of -4?

Don't take a 4 point hit for a keeper. I think both will concede, Vorm more, but I'd guess he'll make more saves so it'll probably even out.
