Having been stalled by the international break and a glamorous trip back to Manchester, I take my seat alongside Mark in the studio once again, desperately wrestling for air time against the prolific gabber spewed from the ScoutCast host. Mark tries to be on his best behaviour in this episode, knuckles wrapped by a frustrated listener deprived of my pearls of wisdom by his constant interruptions, you can sense the intense effort as Mark holds his silence.

It’s not easy; once again we’ve a contentious issue to discuss – Rooney’s dubious assist back in Gameweek three still nags away at those without the folically challenged hot-shot. The new assist ruling gets the ScoutCast treatment then, accompanied by the usual half-arsed analysis of the Gameweek fixture list and the likely protagonists involved.

Dzeko set to go up AGAIN tonight. And who's to say not again tomorrow

Glad I bought my ticket for that boat the other week.....

If Dzeko stays in the starting 11, probably good value @ 9.5, so the price increases are not really a big concern. Great if you have a free and can get him in now though. The issue, and why it may be worth waiting, is whether Tevez will impact his starts.

    Bosingwa vs Utd away
    Enrique vs Tottenham away
    Simpson vs Aston Villa away
    Da Laet vs Bolton away

Wes Brown's my only hope for a cleanie.. argh.

    Oh and Vorm.

Its hard at this stage to say who will score more between the two long term. But, looking at your team, I think that the extra £1m spare by going Arteta could be put to good use upgrading the rest of what is a rather weak midfield (exc Silva of course)

If I where in the market for either I would pick Walcott, he is in goalscoring form, his place in the team is unaffected by the recent transfers and he has a unique quality (pace) that means he is likely to be in many goal scoring positions throughout any game. What do you think triggerlips?

    Pick one:

    A: Lamps and Anderson

    or

    B: Mata and Arteta

I currently have A with no Arsenal coverage. Lamps is guaranteed. Arsenal might very well take some time to gel. Then again . . .

Long term I would say probably B, but short term maybe A. Frank, even although he may be in the "twilight" of his career, will still score points

Mata and Arteta are quality but you could argue that neither are even banker starters until they settle in new teams

BUT, season long, I just dont see Lampard being worth £12m. But I would be tempted to go A for a couple of weeks, see how Mata and Arteta fit in and perform, and then maybe switch to B if they hit nail their places and hit form

      I would say no

You have the money in the bank to do the transfer the week after if required, and I doubt Arteta will score more 4 more than Yaya or Bale this week

In my experience, 4+ hits are rarely worth it unless you're getting a BIG hitter in or its a financial necessity in terms of a long term plan

      2 questions
      1) Will Arteta outscore Bale or Yaya by 4 (not a strong likelihood)
      and
      2) Do you have others MUST transfer outs next week
if yes then question 1 not as important (you'll need to take a hit at some point)

We have the same front three and also Silva. Even although I bought Dzeko between GW3 and GW4, I believe he might be a risk not to play the full game

For me, it has to be Rooney all the way. The man's in the form of his life, new hair-do, deadly free kicks, and lets face it, even Bolton away is not a hard game the way that Man U are playing

Lets be honest, there are no certainties in this mad game we call FF, but, how can you not captain a guy who scored 22 points in his last gameweek.....?

there seems to be very little in the £6m+ to £7.5m range that are any better than some of those just at £6m

You might be better just going something like Lamps to Brunt and using the extra £1.5m elsewhere to strengthen, or otherwise, as a bit of a risky differential, I've read that maybe Merieles at £7.4m might be worth a long shot...

Not for me. You must have played your wildcard?

If not, I'd be careful - it may just be an anomaly in the program. There's no reason for anyone to be getting unlimited free transfers again. You may still get away with the three free transfers thus far, but I wouldnt be fannying about - they may just correct it retrospectively and you'll be faced with a massive points hit.....

No these were three additional transfers after already playing my two frees and wc this week. The box on transfer screen said unlimited at the top and there were none of the usual warnings about deducted points, etc. If they do retrospectively dock points can't I just make a stink and get them back since the game allowed me to do it or am being naive in thinking the giant FPL would here my plea.

Yeah, so you did two transfers and THEN played your wildcard. Your WC gives you unlimited transfers from the end of one GW til the start of the next. So, in effect, the two frees were cancelled out by your WC, and anything you do after that until 11:30 on Saturday are free as well

But after that, thats it! Until the next WC is available in Jan

Why do players need rest all the time?!

We are literally 4 weeks into the season and people are already saying that players such as Dzeko will need to be rested.

Aren't these players paid athletes? There job is to keep fit and its not very hard to play 2 soccer games in a week. I would play 7 games in a week if I could!

They don't need or want a rest, but when you have a world class bench why not try to keep the best players as fresh as possible. No matter how fit you are if you play 1 to 3 games a week for 9 months straight fatigue is a factor. Getting the odd rest now could mean dzeko is at 90% in may instead of 80%.

      No way!!!

I still stand by my claim that Nani will outscore Young by the end of the season.

Young got 2 cheap assists last week and scored 2 wonder goals.

Nani is actually getting into dangerous positions but his finishing hasn't been up to scratch, give him a few more games and he will be blasting them in left, right and centre.

Looking at your team, the main priorities are getting Torres and VdV out. If you've already done that, I dont think Walcott will outscore Nani by 4

Everyone is expecting an Arsenal massacre of Swansea, but Swansea have only conceded against Man City. Albeit it was four, but that was only in the last 30 minutes, in their first EPL game, when they were probably still struggling for fitness and pace after stepping up to the big league

Now they are settled, I doubt it will be any more than 2-0 to the gunners, and I can easily see Man U scoring similar against Bolton

Plus, I dont rate Walcott. He gets the odd good week, but the phrase "couldnt hit a cow in the arse with a banjo" always comes to mind with him

Silva. Nasri had an exceptional game last week no doubt. 3 assists. But that was nearly half of the total that he got in the THREE previous seasons (7 assists)

Silva is still the main playmaker in my book

Over the season I think Nasri will edge it but I wouldn't want to guess the next few weeks, and can see silva doing better this week. I had Nasri in and with price changes I'll effectively lose .3 if I swap so will stick with Nasri.

from recolection think silva is on somay like 30% ownership, nasri on 6.7 at present so any repeat performance from nasri will see him rise quicker than silva price wise as well so a lot to be said for the greedy frenchman

Jarvis is 50/50 doubtful and if there was ever a nailed on CS you have to think its Kompany v Wigan

If no pts hit involved then I think it has to be Brunt and Kompany

Even long team you have to think Jarvis roughly = Brunt, but Kompany will definitely outscore S Taylor

So far 17 players (1g, 4d, 8m, 4s) have risen in value (2.4m total) this GW.

Meanwhile 117 players (5g, 26d, 42m, 44s) have fallen in value (12.7m total). That's 100 more players and over 10m more in value.

Still another day to come where lots of transfers will take place but that must be getting on for the most number of fallers in a gameweek.

    Silva, Young, Arteta, Dyer, 4.5m
    Rooney, Dzeko, Suarez

Can also get exchange 4.5m mid for Petrov if I downgrade Kompany to 5m def (e.g. Shawcross)

If I'd wildcarded this week I'd be very tempted to stick him in my team, especially having seen that ownership figure. Crazy low.

Mental eh? Everyone has the same few forwards this year, only 7 forwards have more than 10% ownership:

          Suarez 44.8%
          Rooney 41.6%
          Aguero 29.1%
          Dzeko 24.8%
          Bent 11.8%
          Klasnic 10.9%
          Davies 10.4%

RVP at 5.8% and Carroll at 4.2% are going to be serious differentials for the manager who picks them at the right time...

Well, when you look at the "Form" of all the great picks from the experts here, you know: Sessegnon, Moses, Sinclair, Taarabt etc. I would just go with what YOU feel. 🙂

It seems everyone going for Young, but due to the price difference on Young vs. Nani, I'm considering going for Nani instead. Would this be utterly foolish, or does anyone think that Nani still has potential to score higher than Young? Or do you think he's going to play at all?

Young more nailed on and more in the action so far this season, however we know what
Nani can do. It's a gamble to go with Nani but it could pay off, I'm sticking with Young though.

Do it man, people have gone money mad lately turning players like a hooker would turn tricks, he still gets a good few chances to make points

You have Nani. I would say, stick with him. Young has been prima facie the better player in EPL points terms BUT

Take off the two "assists" he got for those free kicks that werent really....and

if you included the Community Shield game where Nani got two goals, they are more or less the same. Over the long term I dont see much between them, and lets not forget Nani was the biggest points scorer last season

Its too early to be knee jerking into Young if you have Nani in my opinion

I know. In your team you have RvP and Torres (post at 6:49) and then you ask if you should do Torres to RvP?? - you have them both

The worst thing is, Ferguson isnt even really a differential as 12.5% of teams have him!

I still back him to come good though. 10/20 points definitely.

Ooh, just noticed players now have stars next to their names if they're at the top of the ranks like last season - did I just miss that before or is that what they've spent the last two weeks fixing? 😀
