The Gameweek Captain Poll is in full swing with well over 1000 votes already collected. Yet again we’ve got a clear four-horse race, a tussle dominated by the big-scoring forwards, with familiar names rotating at the top.

City’s Sergio Aguero leads matters – a situation no doubt compounded by Roberto Mancini’s decision to bench him last night while Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli led the charge on Birmingham in the Carling Cup. Aguero looks set to start against Everton on Saturday, regardless of the looming trip to Munich in the Champions League next Tuesday.

Almost 100 votes separate the Argentine from Robin Van Persie; the Arsenal striker has the pedigree and the fixture to rip it up for his Fantasy owners at the weekend, but nagging doubts remain. Arsenal’s form continues to stutter and the Dutchman is yet to ignite in Fantasy terms. Bolton’s defence has gaping holes to exploit but there will be concern that, even if Arsenal capitalise, Van Persie will take on the role of provider rather than the executioner.

Liverpool’s Luis Suarez is another who has work to do to claim a place back in our hearts. The date with Wolves at Anfield looks crucial, not only for Liverpool’s confidence following the White Hart Lane spanking, but also for Suarez, after slipping to three consecutive blanks. We’ve seen heavy sales of the Uruguayan this week – we’d expect that to accelerate should he fail to notch against Mick McCarthy’s side. With 13% of our vote so far, there are still plenty backing him to come good.

Inevitably, Wayne Rooney completes our top four. Despite cruising for a bruising with a trip to the Britannia, the on-fire Rooney has a swell of support prepared to hand him another armband. Who can blame them? Nine goals in five matches have seen the United man soar to the top of the scoring charts, on the verge of earning “essential” status in Fantasy terms. If you have him, back him – it’s paid off in spades so far.

Midfield prospects Juan Mata and David Silva look promising but perhaps not quite enough to break the big strikers’ monopoly; it’s hard to imagine either making ground in the Poll, given the ownership of the men above them. There’s still time though – plenty of votes to be gathered. Make yours count on the homepage before Saturday’s deadline.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

        100 million of course!

Given, Foster, Warnock, Bosingwa and Arteta are all extra cheap because the prices were set pre-transfers/pre-season and now they're getting starting XI action for good teams.

Then they gave us 5 extra free transfers last week to cope with the end of the transfer window.

USed my wildcard this week and have 4.7m to spend on a mid - but not sure on Dyer as already have Vorm and Sinclair. Thoughts?

    Krul/ Vorm
    Bosingwa/ Jose Enrique/ Kompany/ Simpson/ De Laet
    Arteta/ Mata/ SWP/ Sinclair/ 4.7m
    Rooney/ Ageuro/ Suarez

    What do I do?

      Your WC team is similar to mine;

      Vorm, Ruddy
      Bos, Kompany, Enrique, Simpson, Gabbidon
      Mata, Silva, Moses, Sinclair, Dyer
      Rooney, Aguero, Suarez

Ive gone Dyer beacuse if your playing Sinclair due to fixtures, you may as well play them both!

Im basically going to play Bos, Kompany, Enrique, Mata, Silva, Rooney, Aguero and Suarez every week, then rotate the final 2 places between Simpson, Gabbidon, Moses, Sinclair and Dyer.

We'll see....im fairly happy with having 8 definite starters!

Johnson is the only other real option. Unless you downgrade Enrique and/or Kompany. Interesting you have no Young/Nani or Silva/Nasri, they seem to be the staple of this weeks wildcard.

I wouldn't pick de Laet. Norwich are liable to ship plenty plenty goals.

You're going to have to downgrade Roo/Su/Ag/Art or er... Mata and upgrade Dyer & de Laet.

Or if you find that idea repulsive to your barrel-scraping bones, downgrade Kompany to, I dunno, Anton Ferdinand and get Cabaye in.

Right, some quick-fire questions. Any input is greatfully received as ever...

    1. Not WCing but is Schwarzer worth .4 more than Krul?
    2. Are Lopez and, more importantly, Boyata nailed on as possible options at 4?
    3. As a Kompany owner, will we expect to see more City CSs with the return of De Jong?

      1. No. But Schwarzer's the best option for Fulham defensive coverage (unless Briggs starts more) and Krul isn't the best option for Newcastle defensive coverage. Probably.

On that note, who have you owned this season which you got before so many other managers brought him in at least 1 GW later?

For me, it's Bosingwa (5.5), Leon Best (2 GWs ago), Silva (9.5 - GW1), Simpson (GW1), Vorm (GW1), Young, Rooney, Dzeko (sold him).

You could have Brown instead of Jones, seeing as Jones isn't nailed on, and Brown rotates perfectly with Simpson.

    Have:

Already made transfer of Suarez to Aguero,
Still have 1.5 in the bank.

Interesting point, yea it would have to be a fullback with potential assist capability like Kolarov (who also apparently is a free kick threat as well). The only way they can get the points back is for a clean sheet and there goes the 4 points. Thanks 1966 and Specialist. Sticking and praying they dont get hammered. I will be downgrading Smalling for sure.. doesnt look like he'll play much with Vicic/Evra/Ferdinand healthy.. not that Rio ever stays healthy..

Haha 🙂 Personally not as I don't have him. Can imagine it'll be torture though!

Probably, unless I bottle it and go for Rooney.

Absolutely. Although if I had Suarez, I would captain him.

Who to bench this week out of Brunt, Simpson and Gabbidon? Currently have Brunt on the bench, as I can't face another potential 30min performance from him!

Gabbidon, I'd say. Even a 30 minute performance from Brunt could score the same as him. And anyway, I think Brunt will start this week.

Cole -> Bosingwa, N'zogbia -> Mata. Is what I would do. Then get Ferguson out when you can!

Ferguson is only there freeing up cash to be brutally honest. Is mata a nailed on starter i dont know alot about chelsea

I think Mata is a nailed on starter and he plays very far forward for someone classified as a midfielder. Also takes set-pieces. I don't think it's worth having Ferguson, even if it is to free up cash.

Giving my 'season keeper' holy trinity of Roon/RVP/Saurez one more week then it might be wildcard time... Ade ' fans love me' is just so damn tempting and I need to do something with YaYa and Bale so RVP>Ade makes so much sense... Convince me otherwise you goons go and smash the trotters lol
