While the title alludes to a debate on the merits of Kevin Campbell and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, it is instead a new podcast spilling with words on the Fantasy Football craze that’s taken the nation by storm – buy cheap at the back, buy big up front.

It’s working, in fact it’s working rather too well. Can it continue? Mark and I lay the subject down, cut it open and sift through the giblets to offer our post mortem. Messy stuff.

Elsewhere, the minutes are filled with more discussion on the fixtures vs form argument, with the usual regulars scattered liberally.

Owen Hargreaves says he felt like a "guinea pig" at Manchester United as he battled against a career-threatening knee tendon injury.

He forgets to mention been payed huge amountsof money for 3 years for doing nothing

Expecting big things from this lot this weekend:

    Al-Habsi
    Bosingwa - Enrique - Kompany
    Brunt - Moses - Mata - Silva
    Suarez (c) - Rooney - Adebayor

    (Simpson, Gabbidon, Dyer)

But then who knows what'll happen judging from the season so far!

This has been my dilemma - who to bench out of Simpson, Moses and Brunt. I figured that all it takes is a Blackburn goal and Simpson's points are dashed.

At home to Fulham, yes. It's a gamble as to whether he'll start, but he can feasibly do more in a 30 minute substiute appearance than Simpson can do if Newcastle concede.

It's a tough one. With 120 mins midweek though I think he could be a sub again :@
Have to take out either him or Sinclair this week. Brunt, if he plays, has a nice fixture this week. Sinclair has one next.

    Morning gentry, I'm thinking about wildcarding and I'd love an option, thinking of going from;

    Vorm Ruddy
    Simpson P.Jones Boswinga Warnock Senderos
    Walters Cabaye Wright-Phillips Silva Reo-Coker
    RVP Aguero Suarez

    to

    Vorm Ruddy
Simpson P.Jones Taylor Ferdinand (QPR) De Laet
Mata Young Silva Cabaye Johnson (NOR)
    Aguero Agbonglahor Rooney

leaves me with 0 in the bank but do you think it's worth it?

    Thanks guys!

No. Should gave done it earlier as Agbon, Rooney, Young etc have all risen this week. Taylor, Ferdinand & De Laet - ie promoted teams won't keep getting points tbh.

      Ruddy,(Given),
      Bosingwa,Simpson,Lescott,(Baines,De Laet),
      Silva,Moses,Sinclair,Sess,(Surman),
      Suárez,Rooney,Dzeko.(1 free transfer,0.9 in bank)

My plan was to save transfer and do Baines->Naylor,Sess->Nani/Young next week. But I'm thinking if I should do Baines->Brown instead this week,so that I don't have to play Sess. And also because I can easily get Naylor in GW 8 when I wildcard.Thoughts?

Sorry to repost guys, but Its Friday...Im on wildcard....and getting restless!

      A. Kompany, Nani, Sturridge (current)
      or
      B. Jones, Arteta, Dzeko

I know Sturridge won’t play this week, but could be a bargain in the long run. Also, hate the idea of worrying if Dzeko will play or not all year?

      Thoughts?

I got rid of Sturridge this week. I think he wont become a solid play until Anelka moves on. He is just not that much better than Anelka, Drogs. Even if he starts he seems to be subbed at 60-70 min for every game. And the fact that he started the midweek game showed that he was bound for a benching anyway this week.

I had dezeko but think it will be too frustrating watching ageuro hoover up many more points. So I have gone for aguero now. He seems to be good value at his current price. That is bound to keep rising.

WCing and considering a mega cheap backline with Bosingwa as the only £4m+ option.

      Vorm, Ruddy

Gabbidon, Simpson, Lopez, Bosingwa, Taylor (Swans)

      Silva, Nani, Mata, Sinclair, Ferguson

      Adeybayor, Aguero, Rooney

Obviously I'd play 3 4 3 every week. Ferguson doesn't play so those 4 mids and 3 attackers would play regardless of fixtures. Bosingwa also would play regardless of fixture. Just as long as AVB doesn't figure out he can't defend and drop him. If he does then I'd get Enrique or Jones. I'm a bit worried that injury or rotation might mean I end up playing all the dross defenders at once, but you need to take risks when you are doing as shite as I am.

My Vorm first choice keeper tactic has worked very well so far and I think that will continue. Got to play Ruddy this week which I don't like much.

      My main question,
any thoughts on the budget defenders? are there any better options than the ones I have chosen?

I know its not ideal having a player who doesn't...errrr... play, but it frees up funds. I might rethink my big guns so i can get tiote for ferguson. but I think Sinclair will do well. Dyers goal last week is more of a freak incident, 2 goals in 48 appearances last season.

      Undecided between 2 defenders:

      A: De Laet (Sunderland home)
      B: Brown (Norwich away)

Norwich are ever so slightly the favourites to pick up a cleansheet. If De Laet is dropped again, then I doubt he'll play any minutes at all. I do have Brown in at the moment, but tempted to go with De Laet.

      Which would you go for?

Oh sorry, to choose one, Id toss a coin. Simpson is at home but Brown has the easyer opponent. And Anderson is usually higher, he was higher also with Clev playing.

      A plea:

Can people on here stop misleading others by suggesting that Aguero is subject to rotation.

There is no evidence to date that this is the case. He was on the bench in his first game (vs Swansea) but that was because he was still getting his match fitness. Since then he has started every game except the Carling Cup.

When he is actually rotated, then start saying it. I don't think he will be though (or no more than anyone else). Tevez never used to get rotated and Aguero is now the new "main man" like Tevez was. I think he will get his rests in the domestic cups and unimportant or easy CL games.

he wont start against everton, bayern and blackburn. no doubt about it. especially the way mancini has been whining about not being able to rotate midfielders.

Sorry to repost guys but you how itchy this wildcard fingers get!
      Morning gentry, I’m thinking about wildcarding and I’d love an option, thinking of going from;

      Vorm Ruddy
      Simpson P.Jones Boswinga Warnock Senderos
      Walters Cabaye Wright-Phillips Silva Reo-Coker
      RVP Aguero Suarez

      to

      Vorm Ruddy
Simpson P.Jones Taylor Ferdinand (QPR) De Laet
Mata Young Silva Cabaye Johnson (NOR)
      Aguero Agbonglahor Rooney

leaves me with 0 in the bank but do you think it’s worth it?

      Thanks guys!

Have had enough with him. Seems that i just cannot pick him at the right time. Last week i played him ahead of Dyer, and this same thing happened few times late last year. Also i think he is very average player and is rotated at the moment=OUT!

He's been carrying an injury but reports suggest he's recovered...and a fit Brunt surely implies a starting one..and he did contribute in the last game be it from an offside position...(so didn't count)...

I think he's had a "break" and playing through 120min could also suggest him being properly fit now..I know we all worry about rest but surely an athlete has more in the tank than we expect...then again...how my season has gone...he'll play 2min and get a yellow...typical! haha...hmmmm....that's not funny...

You could look at Petrov as another option but from what I've gathered over the last few days, Brunt should be in the mix for sure...and most likely not from the bench but as a starter...Cabaye could be on the verge of something great but again, Ben Arfa seems to cast doubt for many others (I don't know what to make of that situation) and could be another Moses at this point in time...Murphy could very well be a dud that pops up every so often with something substantial (again I'm really just speculating right now) but Murphy may not have the consistency you need..I'm in the same boat when it comes to midfielders in that category so...Barton also a shout or SWP if you have extra fundage...

Fundage, must use this word, like it. Cabaye looks like a good punt for the next few games, might get him in after he's done well. Point chasing. Or chasage 😀

I did think Ben Arfa also. I would play Ward this week and Dyer next week if it looks that Arfa wont start. Then there is international break to give him more time to get ready to play +60mins with 3/4 home games. Have to say it is tempting...

Moses & Ferguson need to go - you have 2x 6mil defenders, one of whom could help fund the upgrade.

I don't have Torres, but I'd stick with him this week at home, then ditch him if he misses another open goal.

i agree moses and ferguson need to go, thinking of freeing up some cash from a defender but dont know who, they all seem to have fairly decent fixtures and can rotate pretty well when one has a challenging fixture,

yes gonna keep torres defo this week and see what happens after

tarrabt for barton/wright phillips is anther decision im thinking about as they both seem more likely to provide returns
