A game for the (fantasy) football die-hards tonight, as Norwich City play host to Sunderland in the Gameweek six finale. Whilst Gary Neville has been fiddling with his gadgets for the best part of an hour, the Dugout Discussion has just opened for the late shift, and if you’ve just tuned in the team news from Carrow Road is as follows…

Norwich XI: Ruddy, Naughton, Russell Martin, Barnett, Tierney, Bennett, Bradley Johnson, Fox, Pilkington, Hoolahan, Morison.

Sunderland XI: Mignolet, O’Shea, Brown, Bramble, Richardson, Elmohamady, Larsson, Gardner, Vaughan, Bendtner, Sessegnon.

Both Paul Lambert and Steve Bruce have the rare luxury of naming an unchanged eleven. That means Wes Hoolahan continues in an advanced position, whilst Grant Holt sits on the pine for the Canaries. Big summer signings John O’Shea, Wes Brown and Niklas Bendtner all start for the Black Cats.

Take a pew in the Dugout Discussion, and let’s hope for an entertaining edition of Monday Night Football.

    Guys, opinions please!

So, I'm yet to have Aguero in my side, my biggest error. However, I've had Rooney instead. I have already made 2 transfers so far, Ramires & Nani In for Jarvis & Young (cashing in on the price rise a bit). I have 0.0 in the bank. I'm waiting to see whether Rooney is injured or not before making a decision on him. I can't replace him with Aguero as I already have 3 city players. Frontline currently is Rooney obv, Dzeko and Adebayor. So if Rooney is out, I'm really tempted for a cheeky Drogba transfer, as no one else in my league will think of him for sure. Yet with Torres banned, this is his chance to re-assert himself back into the side against a poor bolton team who are shipping goals. And he grabbed a goal on Sat too. Other candidates are obviously Suarez and RVP, but feel Chelsea have better fixtures. Thoughts?

      Drogs for -4?

Only if you plan to keep him for 3 weeks or more, imo. Bench Roon otherwise.

Hmm yeah know what you mean, Rooney isn't long term injury I guess so maybe just bench him. Got a strong enough squad to cope with his absence I think, hate having to make 3 transfers. I guess it's only worth it if Drogba smashes is with at least a brace, but would't be able to buy Roon back without taking out another player. Nani/SIlva caps I feel, hmm.

People who 'know' Chels far better than I think it's just as probable an Anelka - Sturridge - Mata front 3 as Drogs starting - so that's a possible concern/issue, too.

Yeah this is true. I've had Bosingwa since the start and now Ramires so I guess I'm covered. Not usually a fan of grabbing a player after a big points haul one week, but Ramires has played every minute and improving in the side, making more forward runs. He should have netted against United too tbh. So at 7mil worth a run in the side, cheaper than Mata! You made any changes yet? Who's your caps you reckon?

Clueless. Hoping news at week's end brings some clarity.

Might go for Young or Nani ... have RVP, too.

I would go Drogba. I'd say Torres' suspension means a guaranteed 3 starts for him and even if you have to transfer him out when Torres returns, it'll be worth it if he fires. He may even stay in the team after Torres' return. Good fixtures too.

I'm undecided whether to stick with Suarez against Everton, who have an okay defence. The only reason I'm not dropping him at the moment is that he's classy enough to perform against competent defences too.

Why get RVP when you can get Adebayor much cheaper? I think Spurs will win and it will be full of goals.

Should I do Rooney and Dzeko -> Suarez and Aguero now? Or wait until after the CL games and the confirmation that Rooney will miss the Norwich game? If I wait, I'd lose 0.1 on Dzeko and Aguero may rise 0.1 or 0.2...

Same problem here. There's way too much uncertainty about forwards - don't forget Aguero may not necessarily start and this also depends on his health after the CL game.

The question is who is going to change price tonight. From FISO and TotalFPL it seems Aguero will rise tonight. It's agonizing because I've let him rise 0.3 already, but it may cost us more points to make a rash decision now before the CL games.

Seems to be a lot of people transfering in and out Man c forwards , a real merry go round.

People must be negecting other ares of their teams with this approach. IMO a more sensible option is to avoid Man c forwards altogether.

Silva is enough , there are plenty of good forwards from other clubs , such as Suarez ,Van persie , Rooney ,Abebyor
Thee will play week in week out. Man C forwards will always be at risk of rotation

Yea I had Senderos for a while. Never really got to use him.
Swapped him for kelly last GW who then got benched. Fulham's defense looks all over the place right now. Only Hangeland and Riise look nailed on to start most games but too pricey.

Was considering Woodgate myself.. Not too convinced by Sunderland

Also have Senderos. Played little and doesn't look like he will anymore. Wouldn't recommend Sunderland defenders after watching last night, they also only have 4 CS in the last 22 matches. Senderos is going to fall very soon so it's extra urgent to drop him. Thinking of Gabbidon or Tierney? Tierney gets the odd assist from crosses and is a regular for Norwich.

Forget about Arteta, he's not worth 8.2m. Ben Arfa will be class when he's match fit. From your choices I'd go for Ramsey and Modric. But for the money you're talking I'd pick Parker and Ramires if I hadn't used my wildcard already!

Good midfield, Nani might not be such a regular now that Valencia is fit. Great forwards but Aguero won't play every game cos of rotation and CL. Van Persie or Rooney will play every game when fit.

i'm thinking about reinforcing MF too.

but long term .. if i'm rotating two of Rooney/Aguero/RVP/Suarez/Adebayor for easy fixture and pair them with a mid price FW instead of 3 expensive, I could possibly have 3 or 4 of Nani/Young/Silva/Mata/VDV/Arteta/Walcott in my MF.

EPL shouldn't be like La Liga where we will need Messi and Ronaldo permanently fixed in a team. (that would be good actually.. just fighting for differentials elsewhere)

Yes, exactly, was thinking along the same lines. Could consistently pick two FWDs with good fixtures, and use the money saved by getting a midprice FWD (could be 4-5!) to build an awesome 5-man goalscoring midfield. My midfield looks good on paper ATM (link) but is not getting the points. Since goals from midfield also are 5 points not 4, this could be a powerful differential strategy in itself to overcome teams which play 3 FWDs (the majority of teams).

Nani, VDV, Silva, Mata + a cheap midfielder, possibly Dyer? Very tempting. I'll play around with the FWDs and see how it could work.

Jarvis or Brunt. Jarvis had a great start. Both had rough gameweeks recently but the fundamentals are there - I think they're both on penalties at their clubs and attacking midfielders.

He's been doing shit recently but I just think over the season given his role in the team he has to land the points... one GW... pissed off with him atm though, I have him.

From last interview of Hodgson, it sounds like him still can't decide which formation is best for WBA and may try switching between 4-3-3 / 4-4-2.

I'm not how Brunt will feature in those formation, so I will not get closer to Brunt again until this issue sorted.

Interesting. I take it 4-3-3 might be worse for Brunt, because as there are fewer midfielders, more forwards, and he's a midfielder, he'll be lying deeper.

SWP looks like he might enter orbit anytime soon, while Taarabt must have a record for hitting the posts (he looks amazing). Ben Arfa might be back soon.

Id go with one of those three.

Brunt has been on the bench, and Jarvis looks like he stops producing when Wolves are shyte like they are now. Or maybe its the other way round?

Any Chelsea fans know if Drogba will start the next 3 games? Or its still iffy between him/Anelka/Sturridge? And who will be taking pens when Lampard not on the field?

Oh, and if Chica is fit for the weekend, who do you guys think would be better to bring in for Rooney? Him or Drogba?

Definitely Chica IF he is fit (hence why I am waiting as long as I can before weekend). Chelsea are playing away but Utd are playing at home where they are rampant, against a novice team. Chica is lethal. I take it we can assume he'll start if fit, with Berbatov/Welbeck/Owen/Macheda/Diouf for competition? Chica - Berbatov?

Yeah thing is Chica playing Pool away then Manchester derby after Norwich doesnt really fill me with confidence, but with Drogba you can just stick with him for the next 3 games.

But then again, if I get Drogba I wouldnt have any MU coverage and getting Young/Nani is not possible without point hits. Im going nuts.

I'm going nuts too, the uncertainty in strikers AND the need for MU/City coverage AND the need to avoid hits is impossible to reconcile.

If you can get Young/Nani with a 4pt hit I'd do it. Nothing more though.

I'm WCing during the international break so I'm OK with having Chica for one game, or any player for that matter.

I hope Rooney will not play this weekend.. And those who keeps Rooney on bench will have to play 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 formation.

I then hope my replacement for Rooney will outscore any MF/DF who will play while Rooney kept on the bench.

      It's an exciting week !!!!!

Need help with my midfield (Silva/Taraabt/Larsson/Jarvis/Sinclair). Thinking of dropping Rooney to pickup a decent mid (Nani/Mata/VDV) - but which mid-priced mid to drop?

Midfield isn't doing anywhere near as well as I thought it would.
    YOUNG - JARVIS - BRUNT - Silva - Dyer.

The problem players are capitalized. They seemed safe choices because they seemed like attacking mids in their teams and on set pieces, but done bugger all in last 3-4 weeks. It may just be how things go and I should wait. But after 3 GWs where my midfield has been contributing nearly nothing to my score, I feel I must do something this GW.

One of Jarvis and Brunt has to go, which?
Should I keep Young for Norwich?

Admitedly he hasn't delivered thus far, but is anyone considering O'Hara? 4 very decent fixtures in the next 5 (NEW, wba, SWA, mcy, WIG) and his Optas show he is having a go and is on all set pieces. My patience with Sessegnon has just about run out and his fixtures toughen up after this w/e so I'm considering Sess -> O'Hara (banks an extra 0.4m too). Good move?

O'Hara simply hasn't delivered, along with everyone else in that price range. My preference at the moment would be to downgrade any of those midfielders and use that cash up front, or downgrade a striker and bring a heavy hitter into midfield. There are much better cheap options available up front.
