A game for the (fantasy) football die-hards tonight, as Norwich City play host to Sunderland in the Gameweek six finale. Whilst Gary Neville has been fiddling with his gadgets for the best part of an hour, the Dugout Discussion has just opened for the late shift, and if you’ve just tuned in the team news from Carrow Road is as follows…

Norwich XI: Ruddy, Naughton, Russell Martin, Barnett, Tierney, Bennett, Bradley Johnson, Fox, Pilkington, Hoolahan, Morison.
Sunderland XI: Mignolet, O’Shea, Brown, Bramble, Richardson, Elmohamady, Larsson, Gardner, Vaughan, Bendtner, Sessegnon.

Both Paul Lambert and Steve Bruce have the rare luxury of naming an unchanged eleven. That means Wes Hoolahan continues in an advanced position, whilst Grant Holt sits on the pine for the Canaries. Big summer signings John O’Shea, Wes Brown and Niklas Bendtner all start for the Black Cats.

I feel I need to stand up on behalf of all Ferguson owners. We do get quite a bashing on here! Last season i almost never needed a 3rd sub, i rarely need even a 2nd sub generally. I would happily take a points hit if it looks like i can't field 11. Sure its a gamble to have him, but i wouldn't say it is stupidity. This game is all about gambling anyway.

  I've being standing up for having him in my team but usually get a bashing. I have not had to use him yet and all other players on my team are pretty much guaranteed starters.
  
  Also as i predicted before the start of the season his value will go up so will cash him in at some point.

        If it enables you to afford a squad of players who will play and score you more then it makes sense to me.
        With the exception of 'snow days' I've never had to use my 3rd sub.
        Someone mentioned Charles Hawtrey the other day - if he was available for £3m would you select him. I would snap him up.
        When will you get into your head that it doesn't matter to us if he doesn't play!!!!??

        we have it in our head he wont play. WE KNOW. WE BLOODY WELL KNOW.please understand that and you might start understanding the arguement. if you have a fully fit 12/13 players there really is no need for a 14th player. So we buy ferguso9n on the cheap for a handy .5 mill extra. You would rather rotate but thats ok thats fine, you do that. oh and have fun with it as well.

        I wouldn't rather rotate.
        I have Dyer to come in on easy games and in most warm the bench just in case of injuries etc.
        I understand the argument, but I don't agree with any of it.
        I have seen plenty of immensely strong squads without Ferguson which are well balanced, and would have just as many 'big guns' as those fools with Ferguson.

        I had him and finally have got rid, was a terrible move and one I will never repeat. Gave me very little option to shuffle my bench and was a waste of a player. This is even before any suspensions, real rotation has come into force...

  As injuries rack up and wildcards are used you will need to use all 15 spots to field 11.
  
  Also having 15 players that actually play gives you much more flexibility. My version of Ferguson is Moses....sure, he's done nothing much, but I've used him once or twice when Wigan's fixtures are good and at least he gets 2-3 pts and there is the possibility of a goal. With Ferguson there is no possibility of anything.
  
  so say you have in your midfield Nani and Mata....they are great
  
  But also say Jarvis, Dyer and Ferguson and then one week Wolves and Swansea are away...because you don't have the luxury of a playing fifth midfielder, in a team with a better fixture that week, then all you can do is field them.
  
  Having ferguson means you have 14 players, it means you are restricting your choice and flexibility.
  
  That's my reason for teasing Ferguson owners.

Want to keep Rooney but really don't know what to to with my free transfer and 0.9mil in the bank. My team looks so much stronger than all of the casuals above me but they continue to get more points. Currently 56 points behind the leader but there's a group of them all near a similar amount.

    Yep, I watched the match and I suppose you can't really argue with the 3 goalscorers getting the BPs. I was just hoping Tierney might get 1bp (as I own him!). I thought he played well and he was high up the stats.
    Tierney might get a few assists over the season in the home games and Lambert seems to start him every game.

    That's so ridiculous I had to wiki it. He actually only scored 10 in a season for Norwich.
    
    But he got 19 for Man U in 90-91! Cripes. 113 goals in his career. That is mighty impressive.

        Final stat...to the shame of everyone else, Bruce was Man U's joint top scorer in the league that season with McClair. Hughes on a lowly 10. Next came Clayton Blackmore with 4! Did Utd have no midfield at all that season?

I have two free transfers and 1.1M in the bank.

Iim thinking either

A: Rooney and Brunt to Adebayor and Nani

or

B: Rooney to Aguero and either save a transfer or make it elsewhere

Not sure what to do, want to bring in Aguero but also want some United coverage for the Norwich game, any suggestions welcome!
