FIFA may wade into the Carlos Tevez matter on the back of Man City’s suspension. Frank Lampard is hungry for more starts, Harry Redknapp rings the changes with Arsenal in mind, Stuart Holden suffers a serious setback on his road to recovery from a knee injury and Steve Bruce looks to shake up his Sunderland side after another woeful Black Cats performance. Here are this morning’s Scribbles, folks:

After Man City’s decision to suspend Carlos Tevez for a fortnight, FIFA vice-president Jim Boyce has added fuel the debate. Describing the Argentine’s actions as ”despicable” he went on to hint that Tevez could be banned by FIFA over his refusal to take to the field at Bayern on Tuesday:

I believe FIFA should have the power to ban the player from taking an active part in football. If he has done what has been said, then I think his club would be better off without him.

If Manchester City prove it, write to FIFA and state the exact circumstances that happened, I would have no problem with that whatsoever.

William Gallas has suffered a setback in his return from a calf injury. The Spurs centre half has yet to play any part in their league campaign so far but, after taking part in a reserve game last week, had looked on course to play a part in tonight’s Europa League clash with Shamrock Rovers. He has now injured the other calf and stands little to no chance of facing former club Arsenal this Sunday.

Still on the subject of Spurs, Harry Redknapp will make up to ten changes for tonight’s match with that weekend North London derby in mind.

I didn’t play any of the lads in the last game and it worked for us against Liverpool. Players like Gareth Bale and Emmanuel Adebayor will not play. I can’t afford to miss them for the weekend.

We’ve got a squad so let’s use it. This is their chance to prove to me why they should be in the first team.

Andre Villas-Boas’ decision to rotate Frank Lampard worked well last night. The midfield, starting just his second game in the last five, grabbed the Blues opener in Valencia before an act of folly from Salomon Kalou gave the Spanish side a penalty and denied Chelsea all three points. Lampard has insisted that if Villas-Boas is to get the best out of him, he needs to play him more often:

I’m a player who likes to play regularly because I think it helps me get my momentum and stay fit and get confident. Hopefully, now, I can get a run of games. It’s up to the manager.

Martin Jol has left Bobby Zamora and Moussa Dembele behind as Fulham travelled to Denmark for tonight’s Europa League game with Odense. Dembele is sick while Zamora is recovering from his own illness and Jol reckons it’s more important to get the forward back to full fitness ahead of the game against QPR, with the Cottagers the only team yet to win a Premier League game this season.

Glen Johnson and Daniel Agger are Liverpool’s only injury worries ahead of the Merseyside derby with Everton. Johnson is still struggling with a hamstring problem, meaning Martin Kelly is likely to stay at right-back, while Agger’s rib injury should allow Martin Skrtel to continue alongside Jamie Carragher at centre half.

Bolton were yesterday dealt the devastating news that Stuart Holden will be sidelined for the next six months. Having been out since March with a knee injury, the midfielder had built up his fitness and returned to first-team action last week, completing ninety minutes against Aston Villa in the Carling Cup. A routine procedure revealed cartilage damage, however, and the player couldn’t mask his feelings on twitter yesterday:

“Floored, devastated, gutted, just a few words I can think of. I will continue to fight and I’m ready for another tough journey…..”

Steve Bruce is set to ring the changes ahead of this weekend’s home game with West Brom. The Sunderland manager reckoned “six or seven” players were well below-par in the 2-1 defeat at Norwich on Monday night and, as he looks to get back to the form that saw the Black Cats hammer Stoke 4-0 just two weeks ago, the likes of Stephane Sessegnon and Ahmed Elmohamady have been mooted as favourites for the axe. Titus Bramble’s off-field indiscretions should hand Michael Turner a start at centre half alongside Wes Brown.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Totalfpl is shit on price drops, so many times that have had people at less than 50% to drop and that have dropped.
Fiso is the one to look at when checking price drops.....
He's at 102% to drop on Fiso so he will drop imo.

    REPOST.

All my rivals have wildcarded and have a basic skeleton of Silva-Nani and RVP-Aguero.

The catch is, im 50 points from up top, used my free transfer, and now Im stuck with Rooney, the difference will be RVP here. Must I transfer him in or not. Dilemma. And I can’t keep my mind off it.. Help fellas.

I don't want to lose 0.3 on Rooney.
I could do Suarez > RVP but that's quite a gamble.

If I transfer out Long that would give me 7.9 to play with
If I transfer out Taarabt that would give me 8.3 to play with

So Mid for 7.9 or Fwd for 8.3?

As a newcastle fan, I think Cabaye is absolute class, but as Jack said, he does sometimes play a bit deep. he likes to be pulling the strings. Most of his shots are from distance which look spectacular but as yet have not been successful. I'm sure he'll get the odd screamer now and again, but cant see him scoring that many. Has a very good assist potential though, providing we can keep scoring enough goals. He's on set pieces/corners, can see us scoring a few goals from his parried shots.

Maybe I'm clutching at straws here but after watching Mancicni's interview again I think his comment about Dzeko was more saying if he doesn't like it he can sit on the bench rather than a direct statement that he would be. I want rid anyway but if it means I could hold out for one more week and have 2 free for the break I'd take it.

    Afternoon Lads,

In order to bring in Aguero I must purchase a striker for maximum 6.6. The most enticing option is Sturridge but I am not sure how much game time he will get versus Anelka and Drogba. Where does Sturridge play under AVB. What are his chances for game time the next few weeks?

Please, any help appreciated must make the changes before Aguero rises.

He plays wide right of their front 3 (Mata on the left and usually Torres central).

With Torres out for the next 3 games Drogba is widely tipped to start in the CF spot although Anelka and Sturridge are both possibilities. Sturridge will also be contending with Anelka, Malouda, Kalou and perhaps Lukaku for the wide right berth.

I'm not sure on his game time, he hasn't been amazing of late and I think Malouda was impressive last night. He's a gamble at best imo.

Thanks, that was informative. Should probably get in Drogba then for a 4 point hit. How sure are we that he will start?

Again I wouldn't be too sure on that either. He hasn't played a lot of football, didn't even get off the subs bench last night as far as I remember with Mikel, Anelka and Kalou the ones to come on.

Look out for clues in AVB's conference tomorrow. Drogba in is a high risk - poitentially high reward strategy at the moment.

With Torres out for three game weeks this must be his time to cement a place. If not the safer but potentially lower scoring options will still be there.

Best,Ba, Hoilett, Fletcher. decent enough players and regular, but in teams where their service and posession is likely to be less. There are more just look at forwards put your price limit in and go from there. 🙂

Looking through mini league rival's teams I've noticed we are all getting horribly similar squads, more so it seems to me than previous years. Is this to do with the much higher price reduction rate in lower performing players forcing everyone to the players now at less risk of a drop in value?

I agree, there is a template squad developing in my mini league too but I don't think it has anything to do with price rises or falls.

I just think the pool of "in-demand" players has been meagre thus far. Up until GW6 I think it was pretty much the same group of players getting the best points. The Rooney-Aguero effect.

In the gameweek the two of those players scored hattricks, 12 out of the 20 teams in my mini league had one of them as captain and quite a few of those teams had both players.

A knock on effect of the Rooney-Aguero factor (plus the fact people need / want two of Young / Silva / Nani / Mata is that cheap defence is becoming common with the so-called "casual players". Most in my league started with nice balanced squads with a mix of defenders but now they are shifting to a bargain basement defence to accommodate the players above.

Another factor is the lack of cheap "gems" in midfield this year. Last year you could have the likes of Adam or N'Zogbia - there are no such bargains this year.

Probably partly because the players doing well are the obvious ones, regardless of fixtures e.g. Rooney, Aguero, Silva, Nani The advantage of people on here of "playing the fixtures" is not yet paying off. E.g. at the start of the season the smart thing appeared to be to get Villa players (e.g. Bent, NZogbia) but these have done nothing while Man Utd have thrived despite a poor set of fixtures on paper.

So now, people who normally "play the fixtures" are just having to get players like those above just like the casual players have already got anyway.

Another factor is that more people have discovered this site now due to the link up with FPL. I know for a fact that a few in our league have started using it whereas they didn't last season.

Agree with all of this. For me GW6 was the first time this year that the edge gained by "playing the fixtures" actually worked.

I think its to do with sites like this - (and totalfpl) + ffs being now 'the pundit' on site, the field has really narrowed unfortunately and I think its just cos people are more clued up / eager to go with a generic RMT.

Event scoutpicks is (even if waaaay over budget) terribly obvious these days.

I saw on Coral earlier that Norwich were 16/1 to beat a potentially Rooney-less MU at the weekend. Totally unlikely obviously but if BoyleS have similar odds, perhaps worth the punt? Stranger things have happened......

if it's not gonna hurt you, go for it! It could pay off VDV has scored in the last 2 against Arsenal I believe. With Defoe out, he'll be right behind Bayor. It's not a crazy thought, however, I'm going Nani
