Gabby Agbonlahor’s goal and assist in Aston Villa’s win over Wigan yesterday laid down the gauntlet for his fellow low-priced Fantasy forwards and this afternoon saw three more players step up with some double figure returns.

Daniel Sturridge was first out the traps in Chelsea’s Reebok rout. When available, Sturridge has started every league game for Andre Villas-Boas’ side and further-cemented his place in his manager’s first-team thinking with two goals and an assist at old club Bolton.

Firing the Blues into the lead within two minutes, Sturridge added another goal and assist to put his side into a 3-0 lead before the half-hour mark and is already his side’s top-scoring Fantasy forward, despite appearing in just three games. Chelsea are clearly clicking under Villas-Boas and look full of goals right now, with a 5-1 final score perhaps even kind on the home side, such was their total dominance. At 6.5, the fortnight’s break will surely see his bandwagon pick up pace ahead of a gameweek eight home clash with Everton.

The three o’clock kick-off at Craven Cottage saw Andy Johnson continue the form that has seen him grab six goals in nine appearances on the European stage. Johnson-starting his first league game since gameweek two- helped end QPR’s unbeaten run as Martin Jol’s side picked up their first league win of the campaign in emphatic fashion.

Echoing Sturridge’s early goal, Johnson netted within a couple of minutes but went one step further than the Chelsea player with a hat-trick and assist in the 6-0 rout, though with his game time definitely less guaranteed, it’s fair to say that Fantasy suitors may be deterred. At 5.1, however, he’s presented a strong case as Fantasy managers’ cut-price striker option, though with Moussa Dembele and Bryan Ruiz vying for a place alongside Bobby Zamora, Johnson has plenty competition- if he can force his way into Jol’s starting eleven on a more permanent basis, Johnson looks ripe for investment.

Zamora returned to action after being sidelined with illness last week and again proved pivotal for Jol’s side. His goal and two assists may well have been overshadowed by Johnson’s display but the 6.7 FPL forward continued to show that, when fit, he offers a consistency that is often overlooked- currently, he’s owned by just 3% of Fantasy managers. Zamora has now appeared in four games for Fulham this season and has either scored, assisted or picked up bonus in every game.

Today’s (pre-bonus) twelve point return means Zamora has scored in his third game in a row and has returned three goals, three assists and four bonus in those four games. The gameweek eight Britannia clash may dent that record but it’s clear he’s looking a real solid performer under the guidance of Jol and if he can stay match-fit, looks like a real value for money option as the season unfolds.

rage i have a couple of player that will score alright come may as value for money goes and there suarez and enquire. so i leave the pair in. enquire has a high ownership so if he fails alot will you would not of lost ground. just play him and worry about the other 10. i can see another 4/5 clean sheets in the next 11 so i think there will be an ave of 3-3.5 points per game and he may add an assist or bp on the way

bonus point system loves Suarez, hoping he'll pick up at least 2.

        Think Walker will grab 3

Brunt, one assist won't be enough with 4 goalscorers to grab baps

        Mata, nawwwhhh, I wish!

Rooney, don't think so, outside chance of 1 point!

Is it also worth doing O'Hara to Petrov for a four pint hit? Have been holding off doing this as have always had a more pressing transfer, but O'Hara dropping and Petrov scoring well.

International breaks are popular times to play WCs as you have two weeks instead of the usual one to take advantage of unlimited transfers for profit; players can also get injured then and you can adapt with a WC.

I don't think people have a generally preferred WC strategy but generally you want to play them well spaced. There is another WC in January so I'll either play mine this international break or the next in GW11.

Keep your wildcard for as long as you can. It gives you the ability to make a major move when unusual circumstances arise. For example, you can get a big advantage in double game weeks be replacing "interchangeable" players with those with double games.

I finished 176 in the world last year and won the FPL Open by playing my wc in week 36.

Using the wc on intl. breaks is "cute", but the objective of the game is to get as many points as possible, not to get the highest team value.

The only time that I would use my wc before a special circumstance arose is if a significant number of my players were injured or not starting.

Of course, if you are way, way behind in your major leagues, you may not have any choice but to play your wc.

      2 weeks, 20 transfers, -7 points.

But you don't see him rage quitting, do you? 😉

Or 'letting his brother run the team' ...

Here's the crazy thing ... at -7 total points, he's ranked above ~12,500 managers 😯

They got to be there on hits too to be negative, I can't imagine anyone picking a team so bad that sending offs, own goals, and missed penalties outweigh even appearance points alone. Although TBH, that is skilful in a very perverse way - we should have an alternative FPL! "The winner builds a team of losers."

2 free transfers: Aguero + Ramsey or Sturridge + VdV? Already have Aguero and bought him at 11.0. Better alternatives than Ramsey around that value?

I think I'd go Sturr/VDV ... both have decent fixtures, big weeks - so price will likely rise - and seem a differential at the mo.

Who knows what will happen with Aguero and Ramsey is not usually in the FPL points.

Stoke below par again after a European tie?
Or were Swansea clearly the better team?

Been really impatient with my team this year I have been constantly chopping and changing my forward line week in week out my current front 3 rvp Aguero (yes I took Rooney out for him) and Adebayor I'm going to sit tight and wait for news on Aguero however due to chopping and changing my forwards my midfield is looking short of a big hitter obvious choice to me is nani but fixtures are not great my mids are silva Moses dyer brunt and Mata if Aguero is out I could swap for Sturridge and maybe upgrade brunt for nani I still have money to play with then and when uniteds fixtures improve could do rvp to Rooney question is guys do you think a forward line of Sturridge rvp and Adebayor is strong enough?
