Gabby Agbonlahor’s goal and assist in Aston Villa’s win over Wigan yesterday laid down the gauntlet for his fellow low-priced Fantasy forwards and this afternoon saw three more players step up with some double figure returns.

Daniel Sturridge was first out the traps in Chelsea’s Reebok rout. When available, Sturridge has started every league game for Andre Villas-Boas’ side and further-cemented his place in his manager’s first-team thinking with two goals and an assist at old club Bolton.

Firing the Blues into the lead within two minutes, Sturridge added another goal and assist to put his side into a 3-0 lead before the half-hour mark and is already his side’s top-scoring Fantasy forward, despite appearing in just three games. Chelsea are clearly clicking under Villas-Boas and look full of goals right now, with a 5-1 final score perhaps even kind on the home side, such was their total dominance. At 6.5, the fortnight’s break will surely see his bandwagon pick up pace ahead of a gameweek eight home clash with Everton.

The three o’clock kick-off at Craven Cottage saw Andy Johnson continue the form that has seen him grab six goals in nine appearances on the European stage. Johnson-starting his first league game since gameweek two- helped end QPR’s unbeaten run as Martin Jol’s side picked up their first league win of the campaign in emphatic fashion.

Echoing Sturridge’s early goal, Johnson netted within a couple of minutes but went one step further than the Chelsea player with a hat-trick and assist in the 6-0 rout, though with his game time definitely less guaranteed, it’s fair to say that Fantasy suitors may be deterred. At 5.1, however, he’s presented a strong case as Fantasy managers’ cut-price striker option, though with Moussa Dembele and Bryan Ruiz vying for a place alongside Bobby Zamora, Johnson has plenty competition- if he can force his way into Jol’s starting eleven on a more permanent basis, Johnson looks ripe for investment.

Zamora returned to action after being sidelined with illness last week and again proved pivotal for Jol’s side. His goal and two assists may well have been overshadowed by Johnson’s display but the 6.7 FPL forward continued to show that, when fit, he offers a consistency that is often overlooked- currently, he’s owned by just 3% of Fantasy managers. Zamora has now appeared in four games for Fulham this season and has either scored, assisted or picked up bonus in every game.

Today’s (pre-bonus) twelve point return means Zamora has scored in his third game in a row and has returned three goals, three assists and four bonus in those four games. The gameweek eight Britannia clash may dent that record but it’s clear he’s looking a real solid performer under the guidance of Jol and if he can stay match-fit, looks like a real value for money option as the season unfolds.

Hiya lads, kinda got some gash answers before so sorry for the re-post, anyone else with a voice of opinion on this?

what would you do with this team to simply making it better when game week 9 arrives?

Have 1 free transfer & don’t mind taking a 4-8pt hit either, have 0.0 in the bank.
    Team is:

    Given (Ruddy)
Enrique – Jones – Simpson (N.Taylor, De Laet)
Mata – Young – Nasri – Meireles (Ferguson)
Aguero – Van Persie – Best

Bit concerned about jones keeping his place, and aguero’s injury (hopefully wont be serious as it sounds).

any help would be greatly welcomed & appreciated, cheers. 🙂

Get rid of De Laet. Depending of Agueros injury you could switch him out for a number of strikers (Roon, Agbon, Sturridge etc) You could do with one mid from chelsea. I dont think you need two. I have a feeling Jones will keep his place. Nt a bad team overall.

They´d be better off and a better team playing the Spaniard Miquel, he is very good and mature for his age. Guaranteed he´d be playing if he was French. If he went to Italy he´d be playing, he remembers his set piece duties so he´s useless to us...sad days.

play it and bring in people who are likely to rise over the next two weeks because they have scored well this weekend. then just before the deadline pick your actual team that you want and hopefully you will have benefitted from anyone who has risen in price. Examples might be, Johnson, Sturridge, Ba, Lampard...

sturridge is protected for a couple more days so i would wait and then get him in for Demba Ba

It's not exact, but when they get to 100% they should rise. Players can rise once a day by 0.1, I think it's something like 2.00am but I've not been following prices too closely this season.

If Silva rises again soon, I'll be able to do...

Lampard & Ramsey in for Arteta and Silva

    Would leave me with

    Man City: Kompany, Aguero
    Chelsea: Bosingwa, Lampard
    Man Utd: Young
    Arsenal: Ramsey
    Tottenham: Adebayor
    Liverpool: Enrique, Suarez

re: lampard.. Long term: who knows? For now, he'll definitely get a run so could be a savvy move if he maintains form.

Ramsey's playing further forward than Arteta - he didn't play well today, though, despite the goal. I'd pick Ramsey.

I'd guess Lamps will play most games, but for an 11.6m midfielder I'd want him absolutely nailed on, as he has been for the past few years. Plenty of other good, cheaper options.

Haha, much appreciated! I'm not planning to get rid of Silva, just realising that by simply bringing Ramsey in for Arteta I could suddenly afford Lampard.

Only reason to do that, would be I could then cover heavy hitters from the majority of big teams, with Suarez, Lampard, Aguero, Young, whilst still having quality defenders and Tottenham/Arsenal coverage in Adebayor and Ramsey. Seemed a nice way to spread the cash!

Are people still holding onto Mata? He's a good player, but seems to be last year's Silva where he would only score 5 or 6 points every week. At his price, you'd expect him to score double figures every odd week.

Well this years Silva has been getting 5/6 points apart from the odd game or two. I'm happy with getting 5/6 points every week. Although I wish I could afford Silva.

He's played 5 games, scored 1 and assisted 2. That's pretty decent for raw FPL points.

Then you watch him on the pitch - he's magic.

Im sorely tempted to transfer Rooney out.

Im sick of having four cheap midfielders , if i swapped Rooney for sturridge , could build a wicked midfield.

Sturridge could easily outscore rooney over the next four or five weeks and i just so much cheaper

you need at the very least, 1 big striker. And at the moment Rooney is the one to keep I'd say.

if you can't afford it and you have a rubbish midfield, it'd suggest you should downgrade your defense rather.

Adebyour Suarez Sturridge i reckon is good enough for a strike force. The money i would replace by selling rooney will improve midfield no end.
Van der Vaart can come in for a start, and possible Mata

I will probably be selling Rooney before the next GW. I need to raise some cash and personally i think my other 2 strikers (Suarez & RVP) will outscore him over the next few weeks.

Sturridge is definitely an option to replace Roons. Also gotta consider the likes of Drogba, Aguero, Balotelli, Adebayor etc

You going to have any United coverage after you sell Rooney? I've got none so considering Nani or Young. Not sure i can risk going without ANY United players even if their fixtures aren't that great

Yes it is such a juicy fixture, but all you need is a re-injury or set-back during the break, and we´ll be laughing at your rant. But if I was in your situation I can´t say I would wouldn´t do what you´re doing...it is prudent. And could pay-off BIGTIME.

Actually a little better than before. He´ll never leave Balo as a lone striker. And he´ll do something to fuÇk his standing up between now and the 15th. He literally can´t help himself. I just need Savic and Zabs to sit their ass down somewhere. If only Johnson could see regular minutes, and demote the working wings.

I don't understand how for the last few weeks Rooney/Aguero were both must-haves and now so many are considering selling. They're both class.

I suppose if you're not running 2 budget mids I'd downgrade in mid instead and upgrade the defence. Your 3rd striker isn't RVP by any chance, is he?

Have no idea why The is HTR, I wrote his trick-ankle-ass off last year. He´s a ball of frustration with absolutely no football IQ...but still more IQ that Arshavin, which doesn´t speak well for him either. I´m staying the hell away from Arsenal for now, something tells me some large change is going to have to come. But likely to stop bleeding defensively. It´s bound to happen, Benayoun may be the only change upgrade can see.
