The FA overturn Jack Rodwell’s three-match ban, Adel Taarabt looks likely to escape a fine after his Sunday walk out at Craven Cottage. Bacary Sagna is expected to be sidelined for three months after surgery, as Wojciech Szczesny also joins the Gunners injury list. Steve Bruce hints at upcoming first-team chances for Connor Wickham, Alan Pardew warns against changing his winning formula and Man City look set to make a decision over Carlos Tevez by Thursday, according to reports. Here’s some quick Tuesday morning Scribbles, folks…

This afternoon saw Jack Rodwell’s red card and subsequent three-match ban rescinded by the authorities. An FA panel ruled against Martin Atkinson’s decision to send off the midfielder in Saturday’s derby with Liverpool and Rodwell is now available for selection with immediate effect.

Despite storming out of Craven Cottage after his half-time substitution on Sunday, Adel Taarabt will not be fined by Neil Warnock. While his side were being beaten 6-0 by Fulham, the Moroccan was pictured at a bus stop looking slightly sheepish after his tantrum but Warnock reportedly empathises with the player:

“Put it this way, if I was subbed at half-time after that first half, I would have left. There was nowhere for him to sit and watch the game, so I don’t blame him for going. It’s been blown out of all proportion.”

Arsenal have today confirmed Bacary Sagna has undergone surgery on a fractured right fibula. The right-back was taken off on sixty-eight minutes against Spurs after a collision and will be out of action for a minimum three months with the problem. Young Carl Jenkinson looks likely to step up as an automatic replacement, though given the Gunners poor defensive record of late, little confidence can be expected in their back line.

Gunners goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has pulled out of Poland’s upcoming internationals with a back injury. The stopper didn’t appear to be suffering with the problem in the weekend clash with Spurs, though, and is expected to return for the Gameweek eight home clash with Sunderland.

Sunderland have joined the chase for ex-Birmingham player James McFadden. The Scot is a free agent after his St Andrews contract run out over the summer and has been training with Wolves recently, with a bid from Mick McCarthy already on the table. Steve Bruce has also entered the fray as the Black Cats look to boost their forward options following a stuttering start to the season.

Bruce has been full of praise for Nicklas Bendtner after Saturday’s home draw with West Brom. A goal and assist from the big Dane at the Stadium of Light means he has returned one goal, three assists and 3 FPL bonus points in his four games for the Black Cats but is unavailable for the Gameweek eight match at Arsenal due to the loan arrangement with his parent club. In spite of his interest in McFadden, Bruce has assured Connor Wickham and Ji Dong-won their time will come:

“But certainly, Connor and Ji are in my thoughts. Their time might be just around the corner too, so let’s hope when they get their chance, they can give everybody a lift too.”

Carlos Tevez is likely to learn his Man City fate by Thursday. The forward was interviewed by club officials for an hour yesterday and after giving his side of events, has reportedly been allowed to fly home to Argentina. Keen to clear up the saga, the club are expected to make their decision within the next forty-eight hours- from a Fantasy angle, Tevez’s possible departure would certainly mean more starts for the likes of Mario Balotelli and with Sergio Aguero’s injury still unclear, the Italian has shown he’s ready to step up to the task, with two goals in his last two starts for City.

Despite the return to fitness of the likes of Hatem Ben Arfa and Davide Santon, Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has admitted he’s wary of making changes. Unbeaten after seven games and sitting in fourth place, Pardew feels consistency of selection has been one of the key reasons his side are currently excelling:

“There’s no doubt that one or two players coming into the team can change the character of it quite quickly. That was evident at Nottingham Forest (in the Carling Cup third round), when we conceded three goals – and two of them were quite sloppy ones…You have always got to be adaptable and always got to be ready to understand that one player can make the make-up of the team very different.”

Ok my 11 after week 9

    Given

    Baines N Taylor Simpson

    Nani Nasri Siva Mata

    Suarez Bendtner Hoilett

If any of my players are rotated or rested my first sub brunt is a good replacement.

I know my strike force may look weak to some but i have faith in junior and niklas as their the main attacking threat at their club IMO.

you might consider dumping baines for luiz, given for vorm/krul, and using the omney up front. lot of transfers though, and you're right, teamsheet does look good.

Bendtner instead of Sturridge and Aggy?
Not sure about that, Bendtner couldnt score for an Arsenal team that gave him hatfuls of chances
Sturridge is clinical and Aggy is on fire
Hoilett is a brave one too, he's a very good player but Blackburn will struggle this season I reckon....
      I prefer Ba.
His PPG is very good for WH and NEW.

I also take Baines out and use the cash to upgrade the rest of the defence...

I would downgarde Baines and Brunt for Bos/Kompany and Tiote, then upgrade one or both of your cheapo strikers to Sturrideg /Aggy as suggested. Brunt too much sat on the bench. Midfield looks tasty though I was wondering when someone would build a team around the big hitters! Why not go the whole hog and get VDV in as fifth mid lol 🙂

He took a penalty when he wasn't meant to, and then he obviously missed it, essentially costing Fulham a place in the next round of the cup.

      I'd have fined him.

Bit harsh seeing as he supposedly didn't realise that Sá was the designated penalty taker. But then again, Kasami probably should have known who the designated penalty taker was.

Regardless, simply adds weight to the "Jol has communication issues with squad at Fulham" rumours...

RVP could explode, I had the cash for both of them, but will go for Daniel as my cheap 3rd striker. I will let Syarez and Rooney do the job for me. In meantime Aguero and RVP will fight for a place in my team, after he Utd game. RVP will have Che game next and it will be perfect time for decision. I am disappointed from Luis so he will be sold from my team after the Nor game. He simply can't finish.

Personally I'm not sold on the RvP train of thought. Arsenal are really struggling currently, and he's not getting the same service from Arteta/Gervinho/Ramsey that he used to get from Fábregas/Nasri etc - 3 goals in 7 games is not the RvP we love on FPL. Arsenal's results are also quite revealing: aside from four losses and a draw, their only wins have come against 10-man Bolton and narrowly scraping past Swansea 1-0. And that was at home.

Long-term RvP and Arsenal will get back to somewhere near the top4, but for now there are too many injuries and too large a loss-of-confidence for me to consider splashing nearly £12m on their striker, when for similar money you have Aguero or Rooney, with 17 goals and 5 assists between them in mostly winning and largely free-scoring teams.

(Although I willingly concede that Arsenal do at least have what looks like good fixtures coming up...)

Here's something to consider. After their Europa league games, Stoke have all away games (Pulis mentioned something last week about it). This means that when using a home/away rotation they are going to be fresh for their home games where they are more likely to get clean sheets.

Well still out of the top 500K and thinking of doing the unthinkable, having a front 3 which will not include Rooney, neither Aguero.

Having RVP, Sturr and Suarez for the next 3. RVP to Aguero for the WOL game is on the cards too. That will mean I won't have neither of the attackers in the maybe match of the season and they are both owned by almost 40% of the players. That means different captain from those 2. I could have massive improvement in the ranking. I believe is a risk worth taking. Even if both of them score some points it seems that they aren't gonna go wild with points and in that case be dangerous in terms of captain picks, like both of them were in the past. Having 2 frees allows me to do that.

So bottom line is can I/we afford ourselves to don't own Rooney in liv, CITY, eve and Aguero in Villa(probably) and utd?

Please, please your opinions, this could be make or brake decision of the season IMO.

i can see where ur coming from. there is a fat chance that the gamble's gonna pay off but imo u dont have to take the rvp risk. yes, he's got two easy ones but he hasnt shown the consistency yet and if this move ends in a failure, it will hurt u very badly. i think u need rooney more than rvp. having one differential(sturridge) in ur attack is enough.

He needs only one penalty or a free kick IMO, And I think he was playing great in the Tot game. He is coming back in form. Some goals in the international game will suit him too

I am considering the same, Daniel. RVP, Suarez and Adebayor up top, with Nani, Silva and Mata in the midfield. Can't do the trades in the same GW without a 12 pt hit, so will do them over 2 weeks for 8 pts instead. I'm in much deeper doggie do than you in what is the worst start in FPL since I started taking the game semi-seriously. As Yazz once said "the only way is up!"

Lots of poo pooing the chances of Aguero starting against Villa. IMO he'll start all 3 games: Villa, Villareal and then Utd. After that they have a Carling Cup match he'll obviously be rotated for. Also, there is 5 days between Villareal and the Manchester Derby. 3 games in 8 days after 2 weeks rest/recuperation? Easy.

Even though he will be fit. Mancini is the kind of manager who likes to rotate so we just have to hope.

Even if he plays against VIlla that is a risk I will take. I won't have him for the Manchester derby too. Luis against Nor can/will repay those potential Aguero points. Plus I already own Luis and I will need a transfer to get Aguero. The value of free transfer must be considered here too
