Last night’s international round-up was typically fraught with panic for Fantasy managers. Most Premier League players survived relatively unscathed, though the prognosis on the odd one or two is still awaited. A few more days till Tuesday’s matches then we can start planning again…

France coach Laurent Blanc is sweating over the availability of Yohan Cabaye and Patrice Evra. At a post-match press conference last night, Blanc confirmed the pair have suffered ankle and thigh injuries respectively but admitted he’s uncertain as to whether they’ll be fit for Tuesday’s game with Bosnia:

It is too soon to tell. We will assess the situation tomorrow and we will likely decide on Sunday if they can play.

While Newcastle and Man United anxiously await the prognosis for both, reports suggest Cabaye is positive over the knock. French football writer Matt Spiro tweeted after the 3-0 win over Albania:

Had a chat with Cabaye after France game. Doesn’t seem to worry about ankle injury. Can’t stop saying positive things about Newcastle!

Ashley Young also gave Man United cause for concern last night. Having scored then assisted England’s two goals in Moldova, the winger was withdrawn just after an hour and subsequently held an ice pack to his knee.

Switzerland’s game with Wales saw Philippe Senderos tweak a muscle in the warm-up. The centre half has been out of favour at Fulham over the last few weeks, though, and has failed to see any game time since Gameweek four, despite Aaron Hughes’ knock.

Michael Dawson has suffered a setback in his recovery from an Achilles injury. The centre half hasn’t featured for Spurs since Gameweek three, though luckily for Harry Redknapp, Ledley King has been able to defy his own knee problems and fill in alongside Younes Kaboul for four games on the spin now. Redknapp had hoped Dawson would be back earlier than the initial two month prognosis, but the centre half revealed he’s had to slow down his rehabilitation:

I was outside running earlier in the week but the Achilles was still a little sore, so I’ve had to take a step back and concentrate on working in the gym.

Spurs received more bad news on the injury front yesterday. Tom Huddlestone has undergone surgery on his recurring ankle problem and is expected to be sidelined for at least six weeks. The midfielder hasn’t featured since last August, though the recent acquisition of Scott Parker has more than lessened the blow.

Reports suggest Nemanja Vidic is on course to fit for Man United’s match with Liverpool a week today. The Serbian has been sidelined since the opening day of the season with a calf injury but has been given permission to join up with his international squad this week. If he starts and subsequently comes through Tuesday’s game with Slovenia, Vidic looks likely to play some part in next weekend’s showdown.

Liverpool’s Glen Johnson has also penciled in the Anfield match as his comeback game. The right-back aggravated his hamstring in last month’s away loss at Stoke but speaking to liverpoolfc.tv yesterday, feels confident of being available:

I’m feeling good at the moment and I’ve been doing plenty of running. I’ve just started doing ball work outside in training so I reckon it won’t be too long now. I’m working hard and it would be nice to be back in the squad for the Man United game. Hopefully I can make the bench anyway, so fingers crossed.

Leon Osman has been talking of his new role at Everton in light of Mikel Arteta’s departure to Arsenal. In an interview with the club’s official website, he was asked if he’d taken on more responsibility since the Spaniard’s departure and Osman replied:

Most probably, yes. I have found myself playing a bit more centrally, which has been good for me and hopefully I can continue to do so. The more I can get on the ball, the better. I am sure any footballer will tell you they want to be on the ball and I like to get on it and make things happen.

Injury-jinxed Kieron Dyer faces further time on the sidelines at QPR. The midfielder lasted just six minutes of the season opener before limping out with a foot injury but has suffered a serious setback and is unlikely to be available for selection before Christmas.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Yeah, he plays minutes. Great. Yippey doo.

And in those mins he gets 2 points.

Still, your team so if you desperately covet him then go ahead and knock yourself out. He was the first useless twonk that I got rid of on my WC last week.

Does look good though... I have had him from the start (but benched him a lot), I don't think you can go far wrong with him for the money.

If he gets 1 goal and 1 assist from the next 6.. he will be worth the cash.

It's precisely the shake-up that the tournament needs, I reckon - of the last 9 African Cup of Nations winners, only Tunisia will be at the 2012 tournament in January. Given the political circumstances, I'm especially pleased for Libya, who have qualified as one of the best runners-up.

    Tinkering with WC.

    Al Habsi, Vorm
P Jones, Enrique, Woodgate, N Taylor, Simpson
    Nani, Silva, Petrov, Murphy, Dyer
    Sturridge, RVP, Rooney

£1m in bank. Idea is to change RVP to Kun after GW9 and Murphy to Ramsey.

Not sure about Enrique but I love his cheap price for an attacking defender in a top 6 side and maybe Kompany instead of Jones but Jones likely to get similar amount of cleanies and more attacking points?

Haven't done any transfers yet, just putting feelers out on this one......

Looks really good but I'm not sold on petrov.
He is one of the biggest reasons we concede so many goals.. (doesn't track back and leaves the hapless Paul Robinson exposed)..

I also have my doubts on Dyer and Murphy too...

Squeeze Bosingwa in rather than P Jones too.

Got Bosingwa at the moment. Not sure he'll keep his place in Chelsea side and not convinced of their cleanie potential, but may actually keep him for next few weeks.

Not enamoured with Murphy either, to be honest with you. May double up on Arsenal (RVP and Ramsey) as they have good fixtures and means only 1 XFR to get rid of RVP for Kun after the Man Utd game.

Petrov has got some nice fixtures. I'd prefer Modric but took expensive.

            Cheggars, this is my thinking.

I have Kun, Rooney and Adebayor at the moment.

Thinking of downgrading Ade to Sturridge as Chelsea look like they are going to be scoring for fun for a while now and Sturridge has started every game he's been available for.

Other Spurs players are too expensive ad you have to ask whose likely to score more, Chelsea or Spurs.

I think Aguero is a risk for next GW and he has Villa and Man Utd so if he misses Villa his next game is a tough one. RVP has Sunderland and Stoke both at home.

The beauty of it is that RVP is much more expensive than Aguero so its an easy free transfer back without having to swap other players.

Evening lads, I've got 2 free transfers, Senderos and Taarabt are going, looking for advice on who to replace them with.

    Given | Ruddy
    Lescott | Bosingwa | Simpson | Brown | ________
    Silva | Mata | Dyer | Moses | ________
    Rooney | RvP | Long

    Options are

    1) Ramsey and Woodgate (or other def up to 4.7)
    2) Petrov and Enrique

Although I'd keep Taarabt this week and see if he can get something against a terribly porous Blackburn defence.

Id be inclined to get rid of Moses and Senderos first before Taarabt as at least Taarbs has a home game next.

Cheers Nomar. If I do 1, I can wait and sell Taarabt next week, with 2 I've got 0.0 left so need to do it before Ramsey rises.

Not really impressed by the options in Moses' price range (Tiote, Bannan, Surman), will probably get rid in my planned GW11 wildcard but he has good fixtures til then and is nailed on to play.

I hear the good fixtures argument, but its not like he's had a challenging schedule up till now though and he hasn't done jack.

Dyer, Pilkington, Johnson, Bannan and Tiote are better options at that money for my liking. If any Wigan attacking player is worth getting then to my mind its Di Santo or Watson (pens).

But I agree with Royal5's summation of Wigan, above.

I have Al Habsi to rotate with Vorm but I'm considering Scwartzer at £4.9m instead myself as I really don't like Wigan even in easy games.

IMO - there will be one game in the next 7 where Moses gets a 10+ score. He's going to be a streaky player I think.

Yeah, I don't exactly want Moses in my team, but Taarabt is really getting on my nerves. I watched the Newcastle game where he played great (got the 3 baps, I think), but hasn't done anything since then. As a QPR fan, do you think is there a chance he'll be dropped? There's definitely a chance that Barton will lay him out in training...

No, I don't think he'll be dropped at all and I doubt Barton will hit him in training either.

I just think Taarabt has better players around him than Moses and genuinely is a better player, so the chances of him coming good appear to be better than Moses's chances.

Taarbs has been pretty unlucky in FPL as he could have had at least 2 pens, 3 goals and about 4 or 5 assists if luck had been on our side from the Wigan game on.

I dropped him out of my WC team last week but am deathly afraid he's going to make me regret it.

Thing is, he's actual capable of turning it on against Chelsea and Spurs and that's what worries me is that we're all suckered into releasing him and then he decides to do it against those clubs.

He really is capable of it. Not sure Moses is.

Agree with that, but it's not really Taarabt v Moses, it's Tarrabt v people like Ramsey, Petrov, SWP, Barton, Jarvis etc. Moses is a (not very) glorified bench-warmer for me at the minute.

And those fixtures after Blackburn are awful - Taarabt could do something, but he hasn't in much easier games.

Yeah, and it means I don't have to play one of Dyer or Moses every week. Enrique's going to be great value this season, and 3 great fixtures after Utd, although I'm not too keen on having 3 'big' defenders when I like to play 3 at the back - bit of a waste of the other 2 def spots.

I bet the travelling Scottish fans in Vaduz enjoyed listening to the Liechtenstein national anthem - it has the same tune as 'God Save the Queen'.

It was a pretty disciplined Scottish performance tonight against a Liechtenstein team who were missing a number of key players (Oehri, Wieser, Burgmeier, Erne, Vogt) and had to stock up their bench with U-21 players who had played against Italy on Thursday. Apart from Thomas Beck, Bidu Zaugg's side didn't have much creativity and rarely threatened. The ever-impressive Peter Jehle in goal kept the score down to 1-0.

    Can I get a reeee-view?

    Vorm / Krul
    P.Jones, Bosingwa, J.Enrique, Simpson, N.Taylor
    Silva, Nani, Mata, Ramsey, Dyer
    Rooney, Suarez, A.Johnson

Only thought is around 3x Utd players. If I downgraded Jones, I guess I could shift up to Sinclair in midfield (or I'm tempted by Moses, particularly if he drops to 4.8), or maybe Sturridge?

Will Higginbotham be the first choice left back for Stoke when he's fit again do you reckon? At 4.4 he'd be a cheap route into the Stoke defence, with decent attacking potential and possible penalties.

This year there isn't cheap rotation for the goalies. Its simple as it is. The cheapest that u can get is Begovic and Given. I gave up trying to find a partner for Vorminator

The best rotation in my opinion is Begovic/Hennessey. The problem is whether or not you believe Wolves can keep clean sheets against the likes of Swansea, Wigan, Stoke, Norwich etc. I'm not sure myself.

I'm dumping SWP for Ramsey this week as I do think Rooney will outscore Suarez. Doing Arteta & Rooney to Suarez & Nani/VDV/Gerrard next week with my 2 frees.

Yup... that leaves me with both Arteta & Ramsey (+ RVP) this week! Sunderland at home...

      Nani,Silva,Sinclair,Moses,Surman,

      B) Dzeko->Sturridge,Suarez->Agüero for -4 (if Agüero is fit)

      C) Sinclair->Ramsey

      D) De Laet->Naylor.

Is it silly to sell Suarez, particularly given his current form? It's just that I really want Agüero if he's fit.Sacrifice an essential for a bigger essential? Also not sure about C.Sinclair has been the unexpected star of my team in the last three weeks. And does anyone know if Dzeko will start against Villa?Selling him could bite me in the backside.

        Rooney. Agbonlahor. Aguero.

Thats my MIDs and FWDs. I had a couple of transfer options in mind.

        1) Taarabt > Ramsey
        2) Aguero > RVP
        3) Both for a hit.
        4) Or do Taarabt > Petrov and Aguero > RVP for a hit.

        Thanks guys in advance. =)

Well, I'll join you in that, anyway. However, I am a professional wino, so my favourite tipple is probably Garganega, aka Soave. When I was younger, it was Macon or Beaujolais ...

Posted this before, but the new system of having to click on a reply to show it, then click on a reply to that, and then clicking on another reply to show that, is just annoying. Why not just show all replies? Why not? Why have the option of hiding it when you can't see what it says, or who said it? Why not just show it? I don't get it...... Why fix it when it's not ....etc etc....

I really don't understand all the talks about getting RVP here.. He had one good game agaisnt a 10-man Bolton. Arsenal have been awful and don't even have good fixtures the next 3 games.

+1.I never trust Arsenal players from a fantasy perspective, they are too unreliable.I did get RVP during his purple patch towards the end of last season and I'm contemplating getting Ramsey in,but apart from that I steer clear of them.I have a bad experience of relying on Fabregas for points last season.

I think Ramsey is the only Arsenal that can be bargained on at the moment, he always puts in a good show and is likely to get bonus points... and for his price i would prefer him over Mata 😉 ha

OK, he's a *top* class striker playing in an average but emerging side. He can score anywhere and everywhere. He has Ramsey & Arteta to supply him. His fixtures are lovely.

As does Roon when he feels he's not involved enough. I do agree that RVP needs someone up there with him, I think Ramsey is becoming the supplier for him but that remains to be seen. I'm taking a punt on it 🙂

Sunderland (H) is ok, but not a walk over. They have been playing better lately and have +1 i GD.

Stoke (H) can go both ways. But generaly Stoke is a though team.

                Chelsea (A) good luck.

After these 3 games it's looking better.. No way I am even considering spending 11.9 on RVP before this.

Totally agree, dont know where this RVP anger is emerging from, he will definately score in at least two of his next three fixtures. Yes arsenal have had a blow team-wise, but the key word is 'emerging', they are definately on teh up, and i think teams now thinking they can go to play arsenal with no fear will definately backfire. Arsenal are extremely capable of winning two of their next three fixtures imo.

A well made point! I have Rooney and Aguero who I play regardless of fixtures. Quality players perform in in big games regularly, plus they are surrounded with quality. RVP is class but i feel Arsenals play is slower, Rvp easier to mark etc.
