Last night’s international round-up was typically fraught with panic for Fantasy managers. Most Premier League players survived relatively unscathed, though the prognosis on the odd one or two is still awaited. A few more days till Tuesday’s matches then we can start planning again…

France coach Laurent Blanc is sweating over the availability of Yohan Cabaye and Patrice Evra. At a post-match press conference last night, Blanc confirmed the pair have suffered ankle and thigh injuries respectively but admitted he’s uncertain as to whether they’ll be fit for Tuesday’s game with Bosnia:

It is too soon to tell. We will assess the situation tomorrow and we will likely decide on Sunday if they can play.

While Newcastle and Man United anxiously await the prognosis for both, reports suggest Cabaye is positive over the knock. French football writer Matt Spiro tweeted after the 3-0 win over Albania:

Had a chat with Cabaye after France game. Doesn’t seem to worry about ankle injury. Can’t stop saying positive things about Newcastle!

Ashley Young also gave Man United cause for concern last night. Having scored then assisted England’s two goals in Moldova, the winger was withdrawn just after an hour and subsequently held an ice pack to his knee.

Switzerland’s game with Wales saw Philippe Senderos tweak a muscle in the warm-up. The centre half has been out of favour at Fulham over the last few weeks, though, and has failed to see any game time since Gameweek four, despite Aaron Hughes’ knock.

Michael Dawson has suffered a setback in his recovery from an Achilles injury. The centre half hasn’t featured for Spurs since Gameweek three, though luckily for Harry Redknapp, Ledley King has been able to defy his own knee problems and fill in alongside Younes Kaboul for four games on the spin now. Redknapp had hoped Dawson would be back earlier than the initial two month prognosis, but the centre half revealed he’s had to slow down his rehabilitation:

I was outside running earlier in the week but the Achilles was still a little sore, so I’ve had to take a step back and concentrate on working in the gym.

Spurs received more bad news on the injury front yesterday. Tom Huddlestone has undergone surgery on his recurring ankle problem and is expected to be sidelined for at least six weeks. The midfielder hasn’t featured since last August, though the recent acquisition of Scott Parker has more than lessened the blow.

Reports suggest Nemanja Vidic is on course to fit for Man United’s match with Liverpool a week today. The Serbian has been sidelined since the opening day of the season with a calf injury but has been given permission to join up with his international squad this week. If he starts and subsequently comes through Tuesday’s game with Slovenia, Vidic looks likely to play some part in next weekend’s showdown.

Liverpool’s Glen Johnson has also penciled in the Anfield match as his comeback game. The right-back aggravated his hamstring in last month’s away loss at Stoke but speaking to liverpoolfc.tv yesterday, feels confident of being available:

I’m feeling good at the moment and I’ve been doing plenty of running. I’ve just started doing ball work outside in training so I reckon it won’t be too long now. I’m working hard and it would be nice to be back in the squad for the Man United game. Hopefully I can make the bench anyway, so fingers crossed.

Leon Osman has been talking of his new role at Everton in light of Mikel Arteta’s departure to Arsenal. In an interview with the club’s official website, he was asked if he’d taken on more responsibility since the Spaniard’s departure and Osman replied:

Most probably, yes. I have found myself playing a bit more centrally, which has been good for me and hopefully I can continue to do so. The more I can get on the ball, the better. I am sure any footballer will tell you they want to be on the ball and I like to get on it and make things happen.

Injury-jinxed Kieron Dyer faces further time on the sidelines at QPR. The midfielder lasted just six minutes of the season opener before limping out with a foot injury but has suffered a serious setback and is unlikely to be available for selection before Christmas.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

                  We can turn them back on but are they really essential? They are just extra elements to load which users with slow connections or outdated browsers could do without having to grab. If it's really a major loss for folk, then I'll turn them back on once we've completed our other optimisation steps.

    Man of Kent if you're here, Naumann Kahn has applied to join our Texaco league. Any idea who he is?
    Is he one of the secret brotherhood? and therefore qualify automatically. If not I'll check his score and if about average let him in. Funny how people want to join a league knowing they'd be top (appropriate smilie).

    Hi!

    So this is my team as it stands:

    Vorm, Krul
    Bos, Enrique, Ward, Simpson, Rangel.
    Nasri, Mata, Arteta, Barton, Dyer
    Rooney, Suarez, Adebayor

    Have 0.4 in the bank and 2 freebies

    Would i be insane to do the following 4 trades (and lose 8 points)

    Barton->Nani
    Arteta->Silva
    Rooney->Wellbeck
    Adebayor->Sturridge

    What am i thinking? Well the midfield/fwd line would look something like this:

    Mata, Nasri, Silva, Nani (Dyer)
    Suarez, Wellbeck, Sturridge.

    Looks delicious right? mmmmmm. 2 Chelsea, 2 Man U, 2 Man city, 1 pool. What could go wrong? City/united/chelsea will probably be the top 3 at the end of the year.

    I figure wellbeck and sturridge have shown enough to be regular starters, and will both score well, and at those prices? Steals.

                  Why is Drogba a must have? He has played shit all year so far, and is only their for two more games..never bring in a player for 2 games..

                    obviously a 16yo? if you had any clue about football or had ever watched a Chelsea game in person in your life (which you haven't, and can't lie... because you knew what my name was/meant :0) you'd know that AVB plays a system that shifts quickly between 4-3-3 and 4-5-1. watch DAniel in our half defending at times and Didier and torres standing on their last man alone, and you might get it. go to bed. getting a bit late for you

              Not to prolong an argument but, as a Chelsea season ticket holder also, in my view Chelsea play 433, which changes to 451 when defending and, occasionally turns into a 4312 with Mata in the free role and Sturridge/Kalou/Anelka/whoever up front alongside the main striker.

              Sturridge does, however, spend a huge amount of his time out wide, often very deep. He's classed as a Forward because that is where he played for Bolton. For Chelsea, he is only fractionally more a forward than Malouda or Mata. Good news, however, is that he's left footed on the right wing so his end product tends to be a shot.

                So in other words, the guy that actually attends Chelsea's games knows more about their formation than the guy living on the other side of the world reading the match reviews? Who'd have thought?

    Really quite difficult this one, who to bench.
    Vorm/Ruddy | de laet/baines/Enrique/STaylor/Briggs | Mata/Nani/Barton/Sinclair/Silva | Aguero/Adebayor/Agbon

    I'm currently thinking, bench Enrique for De laet, if he doesn't play then it reverts anyway. Bench Mata to take advantage of the fixtures for Barton and Sinclair. I've Been back and forth, should I bench aguero - he's unlikely to get 90 minutes, should I bench gabby - not too much on offer against city - no idea about the right course of sction

        Yes, I'm considering that. Ideally would want them both after gw10. Already have Ramsey and don't really want to spend 11-12 on a player unless they've got good form + fixtures. RvP's a bit of an enigma this year so far. Needs the team behind him to fuction. Naturally, this would require Ramsey etc to play well.

        Sturridge would be nailed on in my team if we had four strikers. Outstanding value. May even outscore Torres until February-ish.

    After a dissapointing start I've thrown my cards in and decided to play my wild card. My revised team is:

    Krul/Vrom
    Simpson Taylor Enrique Kompany Bosingwa
    Ramsey Nani Lampard N Dyer Silva
    Adebayor A Johnson Rooney

    I have taken a punt on Lamps who looks like he is starting to come good abd is a points machine when on form. Consequently I've had to take a hit up front and have gone for Adam Johnson (5.1), but am also tempted by Best (5.3), Graham (4.8) and Morrison (4.9)

    So, I would really appreciate votes on:

    Johnson
    Best
    Graham
    Morrison

    Cheers....

      Andy Johnson, is not a definite starter yet. Sure he had a good game against QPR, but he's not ahead of Zamora, Then there's Dembele and Ruiz to contend with, so I'd steer clear of him.

      Lampard is also a rotation risk, and in my opinion it would be wise to get Mata instead, who's the likely starter, and then upgrade Johnson to someone like Zamora/Agbonlahor etc.

      Well apart from Silva & Roonpig (who've established themselves as must-haves), I must say this is a knee-jerk team. Well, just saying.. I'd consider not having Lamps, AJ and one out of Nani/Roon (considering their fixtures)

        Knee jerk? Perhaps, but my team was going nowhere fast so I had to do something and I have consistently found that playing the wildcard during international breaks has proved lucrative with considerable gains to be made on player values.....and extra time to tinker!

    Does anyone think that Sturridge will hardly be rotated in the long term if he maintains his current form? It doesn't appear like he is competing with Torres/Drog who themselves will be rotated.

    No Chelsea players, apart from Bos, have even come near my team this season, but at 6.5M, is he a bargain or too good to be true?

        I think he is still safe. Last week's rotation was more because he's played every game and they were well ahead. Good chance to rest regular players. He was playing well that match and fits perfectly with AVB's style of pressing ahead at speed. Bos and A Cole are tailor made for AVB's style.

            He should get rotated once in a while, esp. when Chels need a better & experienced defender such as Ivan. Moreover, Luiz looks like coming thru as one of the attacking CBs, which could imply Bos has more competition from Ivan. And no Chels manager can keep Ivan on the bench for too long....well, let's see.

            me too.. got him in early as well. Looking like he is the replicating his bargain pts scoring powers of a couple of years ago. As with all the champs league teams there will be an element of rotation as the season goes on, but Bos is definitely first choice rb in the prem for the time being. Madness is a bit strong. I want Suarez, but as this season has already shown fixtures are not everything. Some may argue that it would be madness to ditch a striker who has already scored almost twice as much as Saurez. If all the strikers are fit in this game then irrespective of fixtures Rooney and Aguero have proved they are great options. Suarez is great, but at the expense of one of them?

              he's better than Aguero that week. But in gwk 10 is he better than aguero at home to wolves, or is Suarez better than Aguero away to QPR. If I got suarez in for Aguero it would literally be for one week.

                I think Suarez will outscore him the next 3 after this...

        May I ask how?
        Villa have been quite good defensively.

        I disagree, Sunderland are very shite at the back.

      Jody Craddock has perhaps had his day as a regular starter. One to keep an eye on, but wouldn't get him in until he's started at least a couple of games.

        Well keep an eye on for sure, cheapest in the wolves defense if he pays. May take pens too.
