We’re slowly waking from the slumber induced by the international break. Wiping the sleep from our eyes, it feels good to be back scanning the fixture list, decoding our season tickers to find patterns and runs that scream goals, assists and clean sheets.

Stir yourself with our view on the β€œStrength of Schedule” to come for the next four gameweeks and beyond.

The Strong

Arsenal

You can call it a crisis – you can even join the hordes supporting Arsene Wenger’s Emirates exit – you will, however, struggle to deny that β€œThe Professor’s” side now face a flattering run of games right up until Gameweek 16.

A trip to Stamford Bridge in gameweek 10 is a short-term concern but, around this, the Gunners have home games with Sunderland, Stoke, West Brom, Fulham and Everton all in the next eight gameweeks. Those contests simply reek of Arsenal attacking profits, even in their current state of malaise.

Robin Van Persie should be the inevitable target – sitting on top of our Watchlist rankings, it’s difficult to argue that he is the best placed of the heavyweight strikers over the next few months in terms of potential. Around him, Aaron Ramsey’s form has seen him pick up interest, hurting Mikel Arteta’s mid-price market in the process. At the back, meanwhile, we’ve tentatively introduced Kieran Gibbs to the Watchlist reckoning, although rotation and injury will always cause concern here. Carl Jenkinson, in for the stricken Bacary Sagna, presents another option. Wojciech Szczesny is, perhaps, your most reliable solution should you wish to gamble on Arsenal defensive returns.

Tottenham

Arsenal’s North London rivals seem likely to push them every inch of the way this season and Harry Redknapp’s men are set to keep pace with an obliging run in the coming months.

Three away games in four will test Spurs’ resolve on the road and clean sheets do perhaps look unlikely. There will surely be goals though, as Emmanuel Adeabyor, Rafael Van der Vaart and, to a lesser extent, Gareth Bale, all tempt Fantasy investment. With QPR, Villa and Bolton lined up as the next three White Hart Lane clashes before gameweek 14, the prospects look good and Redknapp’s big guns will be expected to continue attracting interest and rewarding investors.

Wigan

We focused on them last time out in our Frisking and we unashamedly plug them again this week – despite meagre returns so far, the Latics now have the opportunity to prove themselves as a decent source of budget Fantasy talent.

All the talk will be of Victor Moses, of course; rapidly emerging as a cult figure, he’s replicating the Fantasy failings of Aleksandar Kolarov around these parts. Home games against Bolton, Fulham and Blackburn surely present Moses and Wigan the best opportunity to start delivering and, at just 4.9, it’s difficult to find a prospect with a stronger run of fixtures over the next six Gameweeks.

Elsewhere, we can look to Ben Watson on spot-kicks and even Franco Di Santo – a player who clearly learned plenty from Frank Lampard at Chelsea, having perfected the art of the deflected strike from distance. Expect another one or two to nestle in the corner from a wicked spin off a centre-back’s posterior in the next month.

Bolton

The fixture list has not been friendly to Owen Coyle this season and at least part of their plummet to the foot of the table can be put down to the fact that the Trotters have had a dreadful run of opponents. Coyle’s beleaguered team are heading out of this spell; they face six consecutive gameweeks against teams that should give them stronger opportunity for points and Fantasy profit.

Clean sheets remain unlikely perhaps but, nonetheless, we may see the tide of Fantasy managers selling off Gary Cahill now somewhat slowing. The England centre-back is likely to need a goal or two to boost his Fantasy reputation but that’s not beyond him and he could yet prove a canny differential in the month ahead.

Martin Petrov is undoubtedly a more realistic target – this season’s major success story down at the Reebok, Coyle have his team exploiting the Bulgarian’s talents on the flank and he should enjoy increased returns over the next six gameweeks.

Also Consider…

Swansea – Three points and a clean sheet against Stoke justified their selection in the Frisking last time out. Now they’re left with three away trips in four but with Norwich, Wolves and Bolton up next – Brendan Rodgers’ side could still pick up points and Fantasy returns.

Liverpool – United this weekend, Chelsea in gameweek 12 – it’s clear that Kenny Dalglish’s side don’t have such an easy run. In the short-term however, sandwiched between these games, Norwich and Swansea come to Anfield with a trip to West Brom in between.

The Weak

Everton

Poor old Leighton Baines remains frozen out of our thinking. There’s no doubting his quality, or his potential from set-plays, but with clean sheets looking unlikely for weeks to come, his hefty price tag looks too big a cross to bear. Trips to Chelsea and Fulham up next will surely see Tim Howard beaten on numerous occasions, potentially leaving Baines’ owners out of pocket again.

Things improve with the Gameweek 12 Goodison clash against Wolves, but four away games in the next six around that stack the odds against investment in Everton’s Fantasy assets.

Sunderland

If you believe whispers from some quarters, Steve Bruce’s job is under threat. Looking at the Gameweeks ahead, that’s a rumour that could soon become more credible.

The Black Cats go to the Emirates to face a wounded Arsenal animal next; following that, trips to Bolton and United will be daunting for Bruce for very different reasons. Lose at Bolton and the home clash with Villa in Gameweek 10 looks critical.

Fantasy investors will surely be opting out right now – Nicklas Bendtner has settled well as mid-price prospect up front but he’s ineligible at Arsenal and may have his work cut out to revive an ailing Sunderland for the gameweeks that follow.

QPR

This weekend’s Loftus Road encounter with struggling Blackburn looks vital to Neil Warnock’s campaign. Certainly, should they fail to pick up points there, Rangers will then embark on a run that is set to stretch their Premier League credentials.

Neighbours Chelsea arrive in gameweek 9, followed by a trip to Spurs and the visit of Man City. Points from those three games look very unlikely, with clean sheet and goal prospects also seemingly limited.

Fantasy managers may well be holding the likes of Shaun Wright-Phillips and Adel Taarabt going into this weekend – after that, however, we’re likely to see significant sales.

Also be wary of…

Man United – Phil Jones continues to attract investment but he and the United defence will surely be stretched by trips to Liverpool and Everton and a home clash with City in the next three. As for Wayne Rooney, he could hardly face three bigger tests of his temperament following his lashing out in Montenegro.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

No! Puts too much pressure on a performance. Young has a tough fixture but pool arent too special at the back. Would you put money on Petrov to outscore him by 4? I wouldn't.

With all the talk on/about VdV I'd be concerned putting him straight in this week, I did intend to originally but have decided to hold off.

But I have RvP and Ade and that should be adequate for this gameweek atleast: C.

Got 2 free transfers this week, already WCed but want to make some major changes too my team over the next few weeks. Current team is:

    Vorm (Ruddy)
Jagielka Mertesacker Woodgate (R.Taylor De Laet)
    Silva Arteta Mata Young (Ferguson)
    Suarez Adebayor Dzeko

Want to try and spread some of the value around abit better, thinking this week to do:
Suarez, Dzeko and Arteta > Van Persie, Sturridge and Ramsey (4 point hit)

Then over the next few weeks do:
Ferguson, Mertesacker and Young > Sinclair, Enrique and Nani

    To leave me with:

    Vorm (Ruddy)
Jagielka Woodgate Enrique (R.Taylor De Laet)
    Silva Ramsey Mata Nani (Sinclair)
    Van Persie Adebayor Sturridge

    Any thoughts?

For starters you have to much Arsenal as it is. (Never get Arsenal defenders. Ever.)

You will want Suarez(C) gw 9, so keep him. IMO City will have tough game vs Villa, so i would do Djeko-->RvP. Sell someone like Young/MAcker/Arteta to fund that trade.

Think your right, been trying to get rid of Mertesacker for awhile but the chance hasn't arisen yet. Think i'm going to go for:

        Suarez – Van Persie
        Arteta – Ramsey
        Jagielka – Williams

This week then for a 4 point hit, keeping Mertesacker in for one last week with the fixture at home then getting rid next week and getting Suarez back in:

        Dzeko – Suarez
        Mertesacker – Enrique

    All,

Could do with some help on my midfield

    Silva, Arteta, Anderson, Taarabt, Ferguson.

Already got RVP. Got 1 free transfer and 0.1 in Bank. Really don't want to take a hit and thinking Taarabt can have one more week.

Is Arteta to Ramsey too sideways? Gives me cash for next week to upgrade Taarabt without taking the hit?

    Any other thoughts?

    Cheers!!

I like it. Its your call at the end.

Or u could go with the second option and give Arteta a chance and have a 2 frees next week for bringing Rambo and someone else for Arteta and Taarabt. Mark stated earlier that he'll keep and start Taarabt this week, which is must win week for QPR.

Yeah, just don't want Ramsey to have a stormer at miss major price rises.

Plus leader of both my mini-leagues has Arteta so Ramsey gives good differential at cheaper price.

I own Taarabt and home to Rovers is an no brainer - keep him and ship out next week. I currently have Bannan in mind, which will also 'cover' for no Agbon (I hope!)

Silva is a season long keep. He's the must have this season.

I'd look to get Ferguson out. He's a waste and you'll need the extra midfielder at some point during the season due to injuries and spreading your transfers.

Think I'd rather go Suarez over Rooney at the moment. Likely to be similar returns. Never particularly liked Song as a fantasy pick either.

I think that he will outscore him even if a hit is included, having in mind that he'll probably be our captain. Roonster won't be in the next 3 IMO. Red card against Everton maybe even ?

I am trying to imagine what will Mancini and Kenny do in the games against Utd. Certainly they aren't gonna open the game like Wenger did right? So I assume unholy trinity for Mancini and defensive lineup from Kenny like against Uts and Che last year when they've won both of them right?

    Morning all, currently considering
Taarabt and Welbeck > Moses and Suarez (-4pts)

I know Moses hasn't score yet but as the article points out he has great fixtures and has been uber unlucky so far. Then Suarez over Welbeck, definite starter at home vs a non definite start away from home. Could always wait and do it for free next week but with Taarabt and Welbeck both doubts due to rotation I'm, tempted now.

Yeah thats my thought usually as well. Hence back to Moses. Last year I basically made sure I had a player playing Blackpool every week in the second half of the season and it worked out well, seems like Bolton are the worst defence in the league at the moment and so a similar strategy could work.

true, but how many do you see spurs putting past an unbeaten newcastle? i do think spurs are gonna end that run this week but i still don't see too many goals in it and redknapp has already cast a little doubt over vdv when talking about defoe being in great form etc etc. as for nasri, what other city coverage do you have? i'm still not sure about him (prefer silva)

Yeah VdV vs Newcastle is a concern, but after all this with 'Arry he could come out and score 3.
I have Silva, but no Aguero, which is why im considering Nasri.
Nasri has a better points per game and points per minute for City than Silva does which is interesting

Just some comparisons I have taken note of
                Nasri (City) - 5 games 346 minutes , 39 points = 0.11 ppm/7.8ppg, 1 goal, 6 assists
                Silva - 7 games 596 minutes, 48 points = 0.08ppm/6.9ppg, 2 goals, 5 assists
                Nani - 7 games 580 minutes, 48 points = 0.082ppm/6.9 ppg, 3 goals, 3 assists
                Young - 6 games 479 minutes, 45 points = 0.093 ppm/7.5ppg, 2 goals, 4 assists
                VdV - 5 games 364 minutes, 28 points = 0.076 ppm/5.6 ppg, 2 goals, 2 assists
                Lampard - 6 games 495 minutes, 42 points = 0.084 ppm/7ppg, 4 goals, 2 assists
Based on that, Nasri is the best option with equal most goals/assits (7, with Silva) but the best points to minutes or games ratio..

If it was the end of the season i'd take your point into consideration, it is scewed because Nasri just had a stormer. If next week scores 5 goals does that make him the best pick out of all of the above? No.

I know, that is why I said based on that.
The fact that he has scored 2 games of 10+ in 5, makes him a pretty good pick, Silva's highest is 'only' 10 though. If he scores 5 next week, I think 13, 4, 3, 2, 17 and 30+ would make him a better pick than them if he scored 5 next week.
I never said Nasri was better than any of them, though, just saying the fact he can score big on often occassions is encouraging for those who went with him over Silva.

I think, if he keeps up any sort of form from last week and mid weeks international, he will play most minutes.

    Given - Vorm

    Jose Enrique - Kompany - Ward - Brown - N Taylor

    Nani - Silva - Sinclair - Cabaye - Moses

Aguero - Van Persie - Holt

I'm obviously replacing Holt this week, he's been a disaster. Sturridge will be his replacement. (I have 1.5 in bank)

However, I'm completely perplexed as to what to do with Aguero. I've taken 4pt hits the last 2 weeks consecutively so I'm reluctant to do so a third week in a row. But if I did, who would you recommend? I'm thinking Suarez as he looks good for the next few weeks after the united game? Your help would be genuinely appreciated πŸ™‚

You can put a decent team out so don't worry about Aguero and taking more hits. Hopefully Aguero will be fit for next week, otherwise use your free transfer then to bring in Suarez or Adebayor.

I’ll be an interested viewer of the Spurs game at the weekend, was really wanting to captain DVD away at Blackburn in the future but not so confident on that if the crook is picking between him and Defoe each game. Blackburn is the sort of game Defoe could be much better in, away from home and looking to hit a sluggish Blackburn on the break. Hmm.

      Bale loves playing Blackburn too.
It's a weird one even though he's probably our best player bar Modric, VDV makes us play worse a lot of the time by pulling the team out of shape.
But yeah if you've got him not a bad week to captain VDV. Always got set pieces and penos to fall back on.

I think he doesnt suit a 442 formation. the problem is that Arry loves defoe.

4411 would give the side much better balance and VDV would be in his best position.

So im thinking this week Aguero > RVP
    next week Rooney > Suarez
but this would mean Surman and Arteta in my squad for 2 more weeks, thoughts?

We have no idea whether Aguero will be fit or not but it's reassuring to see that some other players are keeping the faith and not selling Rooney or Aguero.

I'm sticking with them all the way as well, barring serious injury or arrest.

I´ve got rid of Rooney last week(still have Nani) and for now keeping Aguero.

I believe they are season keepers but I´m way behind atm and need some differential...

That said I´m only keeping because I can afford one more drop from Aguero but next GW he will go for Suarez leaving me with Suarez - Adebayor - RVP!

I'm really struggling with who to bench this week. Any advice would be great

Rangel, Kompany, Enrique, S Taylor, Boswinga
    O'Hara, Moses, Barton, Nani, Bale,
    Rooney, Zamora, Saurez

Kind of thinking got to give Moses one last go this week and might bring in Petrov for O'Hara but then that might make who to bench even harder!
