With the European qualifying now all but put to bed, the limelight can shine back on the domestic front and that means we’ve another opportunity to take on our friends at Paddy Power over some Fantasy fuelled markets in the “Fantasy Flutter”…

Derived from the Scout Picks, this week’s markets sport the familiar faces of David Silva, Jose Bosingwa and Victor Moses, accompanied by the much discussed “Robin Van Persie option”. Read on to find how our £10 stakes splits between them, and how much we risk on this weeks long-shot “Sleeper Special”.

Although absent from Man City’s score sheet for the last few weeks, no one could deny David Silva has been at the heart of all that is good about City this year, and will be hungry for more goals after his brace against the Scots. Silva’s creative play has earned him respect with neutrals and Fantasy managers alike, topping the midfield rankings thus far this season. Paddy post good odds on him to score at 6/4 and doubled up with an assist at 7/1, but the real value lies with an assist and not to be booked at 15/8. Making five assists in his last four and featuring only for goals in the ref’s book, this might well be the pick of the week, and easily justifies £4.

If you care to dip into the stats, a couple of Fantasy points near every week since the start of the season fails to rain glory down on Wigan’s Victor Moses. He’s got goals in him though, as he once proved at Crystal Palace, but neither he or Roberto Martinez’s side have found gear so far this campaign. If Wigan take anything away from visiting Bolton, Moses will surely play his role, making Paddy’s odds of 5/2 to score anytime worth a quid.

Jose Bosingwa will be fresh faced when Everton visit the Bridge on Saturday and Paddy have drawn up a true defenders market for Jose, not to be booked and to keep a clean-sheet at evens. Although perhaps not the wildest potential returns, Everton’s attacking threat is dulled by injury doubts hanging over Tim Cahill and Leon Osman – a restrained £2 on Bosingwa seems ample for a bit of interest then.

Robin Van Persie seems to epitomise Arsenal this season. His quality outings have earned him a goal threat level only second to that of Wayne Rooney, yet he has only managed to find the net in two of the seven games he’s taken part in. Arsenal seem to be making the incisive runs and tidy passing they’ve always done, but still languish down in fifteenth, only a point above their weekend opponents, Sunderland. With a makeshift defence lining up for the Black Cats, Arsenal will run the channels and present Van Persie plenty of opportunity. If a goal bonanza is on the cards, RVP to score in each half at 13/2 for £2 could be a risk worth taking.

Our accumulator this week is admittedly a long shot, but has all the makings of a pound well spent. Victor Moses, Adel Taarabt and Peter Odemwingie have all shone within their teams, but not quite enough to be big earners in the Fantasy terms. Paddy are offering a big 28/1 for the sleeping trio to wake up and all make their mark with goals; this claims our final £1 stake this week.

Money Back Specials!

In what Paddy describes as an Epic Money Back Special, if Luis Suarez scores against United in Saturday’s early kick-off, Paddy will refund all losing 1st /last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on the match.

They’re also offering similar specials on the matches between City and Villa, Chelsea and Everton and Newcastle and Spurs.

If you’re new to this betting lark and new to Paddy Power then you can take up any of these odds and offers and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

    Front 7 =
    Bale, Sinclair, Silva, Mata
    Rooney, Sturridge, Suarez

Leave Moses as #1 sub? Or try to squeak him in?

If he's going to score, I like his chances for this Bolton game.

I'd have to agree. The "play the home player" rule seems especially applicable when Swansea is the away team in question. Give sinclair the week off.

        Done!

I figured that Norwich would commit a foul or 2, so Sinclair could step up.. But I'm completely unimpressed with Swansea away, and Bolton are a sieve.

Would have to disagree on this season showing, seen N Taylor wonder into oppostion third quite a few times and whip in some good/bad crosses. Didnt follow swansea in championship so maybe Rangel is more offensive.

i kinda agree your front 3 are good choices
but perhaps (even as a united fan speaking) the next 3 arent good fixtures to take nani AND young into
so why not young > mata/ramsey?
              i dont like hits - i think they're a big gamble

funny thing is i brought mata out for nani to compensate for not having rooney...

cos i think having young AND nani will be good enough to not have roon (esp as i thought he was injured)

i think i might just save the team as it is and use a double trans next week, maybe to bolster up my def as i'm really wanting to get rid of ward and de laet

i just don't believe in the mata/ramsey hype...i think young COULD potentially outscore them esp as he's tapped in so many consistently over internationals and prem games (despite not doing anything in the last couple)

You could also downgrade Young and then do either Ade or Aguero to RVP. Maybe Young to one of the fan fav's this week (i.e. Ramsey, Petrov) or even to Bale.

Over the past 4 gameweeks, the only midfielder who has had more attempts on goal than Bale is Dempsey.

    Alright lads!

Not been following much of the action these past couple of weeks so after some advice. My current team is...

    Vorm Given

Bosingwa Mertesacker De Laet Kompany Simpson

    Silva Cabaye Mata SWP Dyer

    Rooney Bendtner Aguero

I have 2 free transfers and am always open to hits if they're the right move. Current thinking is Mertesacker and Aguero out for Gibbs (or other 5.5m def??) and RVP and benching Bendtner. Could also go with bendtner to Ba, unfortunately I'm 0.1m off doing the Gibbs and RVP moves AND Bendy to Sturridge.

What do we think? Better transfers out there?

    silva (vc), young, swp, ramsey
    rooney, adebayor (c), aguero

    subs: dyer, de laet, simpson

1 ft and 1.3 in the bank. initially my plan was to save it and next week upgrade de laet to enrique and use my other transfer next week to get rid of swp. thinking about aguero to rvp this week but not sure if if it makes sense to use a transfer to get rvp in and then use another one to get aguero back in two weeks from now.

think this squad will be alright this week?

Ade(C) is a bold move considering he might not play! Team looks good, if you are planning on getting Aguero back in 2 weeks then just hold out on him. If not then just get rid for RVP

true! not set on my captain choice yet. was thinking that he would either hopefully play and do well or be out and then silva would be captain but wasnt thinking about the risk of him just playing a few minutes. subs and keeper choice good though?

yeah i if i get rvp in i would just get rid of him for aguero after city play united so guess ill hold tight. just worried about having 11+ mil sitting on the bench but thankfully my mids have pretty good fixtures

Then i would go for Sturridge just because he is owned by a lot less people

I am a bit stuck with what to do this week so any advice would be much appreciated! Team at the moment is below and i have 2 free transfers and nothing in the bank.

    Vorm
    Simpson Kompany Bosingwa
    SWP Moses Silva Ramsey
    Rooney Suarez RVP
subs: Given, Sinclair, De Laet, Gabbidon

What to do? I know my defence could do with an upgrade (De Laet and Gabbidon need to go ASAP) but with £0.0m in the bank i have to sell before i can buy. But who to sell?! Rooney is the obvious but perhaps not the most sensible choice.

Rooney & Gabbidon to Sturridge & Shawcross perhaps?

Seems a bit wrong selling one of the scout picks (although i must admit i was surprised to see Rooney picked)

If i knew he'd play i'd be very interested mate. Played the last 2 games so looks good. Hmmmm one to consider definitely as i'd much rather just do the one change this week if possible

why are you benching sinclair!? keep your team for now. next week you can downgrade swp as he has poor fixtures after this gw. and then in two weeks you could do rvp to aguero which would free you up some more cash

Hmm, not quite sure who to play this week. I've doubled on Newcastle and Swansea and going for Vorm and S.Taylor. Kompany and Bosingwa have to play, as does Woodgate I suppose.

That leaves Dyer on my bench though, should I leave it and play four at the back or bring him? Probably for S.Taylor, which would result in Krul ahead of Vorm. Confusing 😕

    Aguero to Sturridge
    or
Aguero + Nani to RVP & Ramsey (.1 short of Mata) for a hit

We could be without JT tomorrow for Everton. Hard as nails though that legend, he'll probably be fine. But it is a possibility. Missed training session today and went for a medical assessment with a back problem. He'll have a late fitness test tomorrow.
