Our regular Friday feature takes a look at some of the crucial encounters on the agenda ahead of gameweek eleven. Junior Hoilett will be looking to torment Jose Bosingwa at Ewood Park, a battle of the attacking full-backs is on the menu when Liverpool host Swansea and there’s a potentially explosive midfield encounter on the cards when Sunderland travel to Old Trafford.

Jose Bosingwa vs Junior Hoilett

While Chelsea are clear favourites for the trip to Ewood Park, their defensive woes show no sign of abating. After a strong attacking start to the season, the wheels have come off the Jose Bosingwa bandwagon, with the right-back particularly culpable when it comes to nullifying opponents.

Having picked up a red card in his last away game with the trickery of Shaun Wright-Phillips proving his undoing, Bosingwa could be on shaky ground. Reports today suggest he’s in line for the chop with Branislav Ivanovic set to take over, though this could be dismissed as mere speculation. Blackburn will look to test Bosingwa’s frailties again, though, and with the pace and skill of Junior Hoilett flying down the flank, Andre Villas-Boas may decide for a reshuffle.

Hoilett has been the one positive in a miserable start to the season for Steve Kean’s side. His versatility has seen him fielded on both flanks as well as up front for Blackburn so far, though with Ashley Cole far more solid defensively, you would think Kean will target the Chelsea right-back position as his best chance of success. Coming into the game on the back of a goal and 3 bonus points last week, Hoilett’s in the type of form to take advantage of the visitors’ obliging back-four.

Jose Enrique vs Angel Rangel

Swansea may have picked up their first away point of the season last time round at Molineux but a trip to Anfield is a trickier test. Enrique has settled into life at Liverpool seamlessly- his left-flank raids have quickly become a regular feature of the Reds’ play this season and he’ll be looking to bomb forward and support his side’s attacking ploys throughout, as Liverpool look to record their first home win in three attempts.

Rangel is similarly attack-minded and while Swansea’s home form is more suitable to his style, gaps left at the back have been exploited on their travels. Supported by the speed of Nathan Dyer ahead, it may well be he’ll have to curtail his forward raids if the visitors are to prosper. Two assists in his previous game offer a sign of his form, but Rangel could prove to be a weakness at the back tomorrow afternoon.

Wayne Rooney vs Lee Cattermole

A somewhat speculative one, perhaps, but with injuries to others playing a part in both managers’ thinking, it’s more than a possibility. Sir Alex Ferguson admitted he’s been fielding Rooney in a deeper role due to injuries to others and with Anderson a doubt after picking up a knock in United’s midweek Champions League game against Otelul Galati, Rooney could feature once again as a central midfielder. With Javier Hernandez, Danny Welbeck and Dimitar Berbatov affording plenty options up front, Rooney is a strong option to step in alongside Darren Fletcher for the home clash with Sunderland.

With David Vaughan a doubt due to a groin problem, Black Cats skipper Cattermole is in line for a recall. Cattermole’s presence in the middle of the park will no doubt add a little edge to the encounter- hardly an angel, his tenacious ball-winning ability could be pitted against the equally- competitive Rooney. Sparks could fly, cards produced, it’s shaping up to be a no-holds barred head-to-head between these two- perfect fodder for Guy Fawkes day.

Arhhhhhhhh, I can't I repeat I can't change my current captain from Aguero to RVP!!!! Should I leave it? I can't make my self, its simple as that. Always something, well call it a hunch, is telling me keep it on Aguero, but RVP is above 60% in the captaincy poll.

    Please help, what to do?

This Key Battles Article each week should include Aguero v Balotelli v Dzeko !

    Team This week
    Ruddy (Begovic)
    RTaylor Enrique Wilko (Kompany Brown)
    Walters Pilkington Silva VDV (Allen)
    RVP(c) Aguero (vc) Agbon

Thinking of saving a transfer this week and next week doing Enrique & Agbon -> Jones & Sturridge/Bendy
Or should I try to strenghten my defence a little bit? .4mill in bank.

7 of your players are away this weekend!

having said that, this is quite a tricky gw imo, with the uncertainty about whether to bring united players back into the fold

Playing WC this week and looking at the following team:-

    De Gea - Ruddy
    Brown - Kompany - J Evans - Enrique - Wilkinson
    VDV - Silva - Allen - Walters - Ramsey
    Rooney - RVP - Graham

    With 0.2 in the bank

Looking to double on United defence/GK.

Any thoughts/advice would be much appreciated.

Id get Jones as Utd defensive cover, instead of De Gea and J Evans. Maybe get Vorm or Krul, their fixtures aren't great short term, but there aren't many cleansheets at the moment. Do you really want 2 Swansea attacking players?

I know what you mean but I'm not convinced Jones or Evans are nailed on starters, especially now that the Da Silva twins are back. De Gea is the cheapest way for me to have definite cover.

You're right about the Swansea duo though, I may have to rethink that one. Just don't want to get Moses in!

its pretty good and has most of the targets people are looking at for the next few gameweeks (other than everton players for their better fixtures)

others have said you've doubled up on swansea with allen/graham - in that price bracket could consider having one of those two players being a norwich players, or the ever contentious victor moses, so you haven't got your eggs in one basket with the cheapo lads

My other alternative is to use my FT to do De Laet to Wilkinson so that I can put a full side out (4-4-2) even if all the City boys don't play.

    Team for this week:

    Krul (Vorm)
Bosingwa / Jones / Simpson (Shawcross / De laet)
Walters / Van Der Vart / Dempsey / Silva / Nani
    Bendtner / RVP (Graham)

How does it look, and for future weeks would it be worth dropping nani to free up funds for defence improvement (or is it better given the lack of clean sheets to go all out attack!?)

    Thanks Guys

Looks fine to me...always slight doubts with Sturridge and Nani but they should play and when they do they can do a lot of damage. Kompany will be back soon enough and the defence will look a whole lot better...my only real concern would be Bosingwa, personally I've had enough of him and am switching him to Jones, but if you want to stick with him then you might as well start thinking about getting rid of De Laet, maybe for McCauley next week.

Those who are considering buying Jones as United cover, don't you think 6m is way too much on a not-nailed on regular?

If I was to bring in a United cover around the same price bracket, I'd surely go for De Gea.

I'm not getting him for coverage, I'm getting him because he's a defender who will score a lot of points and start most games. Only been benched twice so far, admittedly with Vidic out but still he's so versatile he'll be a regular.

Dont get Fabio for one game and wait to see if Rafael actually plays, Evans is by far the best choice from those 3!

What do you think of this team, guys?

    Given (Ruddy)
    Enrique, Woodgate, Simpson (Brown, Kompany)
    Cabaye, VDV, Silva, Eagles, Sinclair
    Rooney, RVP (Graham)

One free transfer, 0.2m in the bank. What can I use my free transfer on? Should I save it for next week?

I need to get rid of Cabaye next week too. Are you tempted to swap out Given next week? I have the same keepers and am looking for a replacement.

did mata start the midweek UEFA clash? did he play at all? how many minutes?
and do you think captaining him is a good idea? blackburn defense is shaky, and they're missing quite a few prominent defenders.

Evening! Need some Friday night advice...
Defence is: Brown Simpson Kompany (Susp) Boyata (Inj) ShawX (Inj?)

Is there any news on ShawX? I don't really wanna get rid of Brown (good fixtures), Simpson (one of the few decent 4.0m) and Kompany (season keeper imo) so it's either ShawX or Boyata. Anyone got any suggestions? 0.4m in bank :/

Hiya lads, seems to be quite a few on tonight so wouldn't mind an RMT if you could please, would appreciate it. Team is:

    Given, (Ruddy)

Enrique, BAE, Simpson (Naylor, De Laet)

    VDV, Silva, Ramsey, Walters, (Ferguson)

    Torres, RVP, Suarez

Note >>I am taking care of De Laet & Ferguson during international break so they not priority as of this week.

Also, reckoning of Silva playing? i was confident yesterday he would, but having doubts.

Have 1.6m in the bank, any suggestions? Would be for a 4 pt hit as i brought Silva in last week. Was thinking of bringing in de Gea as im confident Villa will conceed.

    Help greatly appreciated 🙂

You're good for this week. Will definately be looking to ditch Given next week. Might be crazy but I've been considering Foster to save cash for elsewhere.

Cheers man, i reckon its solid enough, and i think Silva may end up playing, he usually turns up dosn't he to see the game off then gets subbed, think he'll play?

Fosters not such a crazy idea, bit up and down from this week to GW 14, one good, one bad etc, but good from then on with favourable fixtures, you could be beating people to the punch there 🙂

When you say your gonna take care of De Laet and Ferg after the break, you planning to use your wild card? If so then I wouldn't bring in anyone this week for a 4pt hit...

No ive already used my wildacard unfortunately, took a massive hit last week to sort pressing issues out and still ended up doing well, so just wanna keep on top of things now.

Still hold off for a hit? or bring in de gea for a hit this week then use my free to do de laet to wilkinson during int. break?

Tricky one... a 4pt hit for a keeper is rarely worth it but de Gea does seem a good long term pick and the most nailed on out of Utd's defence. Given could easily keep a cleanie though - sure Norwich are doing well but Villa are a boring side and will look to keep things tight. Tbh I'd look to rectify De Laet and Ferg first since they're not playing...

hmmm good point, i would definitely be looking at de Gea as an extreme long term option though, ferguson does seem more pressing though, would leave me with 5.6, and cant seem to find anyone that grabs my attention at that price bracket really, cleverly would look great but still injured.
Thing is i would rather replace a long term than someone in that priice bracket for a mid, as they all seem to belong to lower teams who rarely do well, i dont mind getting points from a defender in place of someone off my bench. i dunno, bit confusing aint it lol 🙂

I'm playing a predicitons game and I need your help everyone. I already made my prediciton, but only questions left, and these questions get you extra points if you get them spot on.

1- Name a player that will possibly give away a penalty this weekend.

2- Name 2 players that will possibly get booked this week, no matter as to whether it's yellow or red.

Will much appreciate your help pals. Cheers.
