Arsene Wenger hails Mikel Arteta’s importance to his new-look Arsenal, Kenny Dalglish talks up fit-again Daniel Agger, while Phil Jagielka admits morale in the Everton camp is far from ideal right now after five defeats in the last six. Here’s some evening Scribbles for you, folks…

Arsene Wenger has lauded the recent performances of Mikel Arteta as the Spaniard starts to settle into life at Arsenal. An assist last week followed by a goal at home to West Brom has been Arteta’s most consistent Fantasy streak since moving to the Emirates in late August and Wenger is full of praise for the way the former Everton player plays a key part in his side’s possession game:

He is an important player for our team. He is really a player between Song and Ramsey or Rosicky and that gives us continuity. When we need to keep the ball he can achieve that – Jack [Wilshere] can do that as well. With Jack missing he is really a player who allows you to keep the ball when it is needed. He is adapting to our game.

Yohan Cabaye is due to undergo tests after being subbed off with a groin problem in the first half of Newcastle’s 2-1 win over Everton on Saturday. With Cheik Tiote also currently injured, Alan Pardew’s side are fretting over the Frenchman’s possible absence as they face the possibility of squaring up to (mci, mun, CHE) with their first-choice central midfield pairing currently both doubts. With the international break now upon us, Cabaye has a fortnight to recover but admitted post-match:

I felt slight pain in my left adductor muscle. I don’t know how serious it is, but I will have a scan on Tuesday in Paris.

If there’s a positive for Kenny Dalglish to take from Liverpool’s goalless draw against Swansea, it’s the fact his side recorded a second clean sheet in a row for the first time this season. It may very well be coincidental that Jamie Carragher missed both matches, as Daniel Agger slotted in alongside Martin Skrtel at the heart of the back-four, but Dalglish’s thoughts on the Dane perhaps suggest a more permanent role, providing he keeps free of injury:

Daniel’s a fantastic player and he’s probably as good as anyone else in his position in the Barclays Premier League. He’s comfortable in possession and he’s a very good defender as well. He’s a top defender, a top player. He played left-back for us at Stoke as well and did very well. It’s great to have him back and I hope his fitness remains as it is for a long time.

The FA have today charged Wigan’s Antolin Alcaraz with an alleged spitting incident during Sunday’s game at Wolves. The Paraguayan was involved in an alteration with Richard Stearman and if found guilty, would face a three-match suspension.

Alex McLeish is hoping the international break will allow Stiliyan Petrov time to recover after the midfielder was subbed off in Saturday’s win over Norwich with a hamstring problem. With Bulgaria having no fixtures over the fortnight, Petrov will be handled with care by Villa ahead of the gameweek twelve trip to Spurs, particularly with fit-again Jermain Jenas unavailable for the game due to terms of his loan deal. Big Eck explained:

He felt a little niggle in his hamstring. He thinks he caught it just in time. We’ll get him on the treatment table. He couldn’t go on. He would have become a liability in midfield for us, so we needed to get some freshness on.

McLeish also revealed Emile Heskey is battling an on-going Achilles complaint that is preventing the player from managing the full ninety minutes in any game right now. Heskey was subbed off just after the hour mark at the weekend as Villa look to manage the problem.

Connor Wickham is today having scans on his injured knee after being stretchered off at Old Trafford on Saturday. The youngster lasted no more than a couple of minutes before injury struck, though as yet the club have offered no further prognosis. Steve Bruce will definitely be without Seb Larsson for the gameweek twelve home game against Fulham- the Swede picked up his fifth yellow card of the season and the club have officially confirmed he will miss the match.

Owen Hargreaves is edging closer to a return from injury, according to Man City coach David Platt. The midfielder has played just fourteen minutes of the club’s league campaign this term and is currently recovering from a calf problem.

Everton’s Phil Jagielka has admitted morale inside the camp is low after a run of games that has seen the Toffees pick up just three points from a possible eighteen. Speaking to the Daily Express, the centre-half conceded David Moyes has his work cut out right now:

Morale is not good. I’d be lying if I said we were all high-fiving each other in the changing room. We’re all absolutely gutted, managers and coaches included. I don’t think we would have expected to have got so few points from this run. That’s five out of six we’ve lost. We’ve been in games, at least until 70 or 80 minutes, and in the past we might have nicked a draw or a win. The manager has got a hard job to do now in terms of getting confidence and morale back up.

Martin Jol received some bad and good news on the injury front today. Early reports suggest Zdenek Grygera could be sidelined for the rest of the season with knee ligament damage sustained in yesterday’s home loss to Spurs, while Andy Johnson is expected to recover from an ankle knock for the gameweek twelve trip to Sunderland.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Is it worth a 4pt hit to swap Walker or Assou-Ekotto in for Bosingwa?
I don't see a clean sheet against Agbonlahor & Bent in the form they're in, and we know Bent is always motivated to score against his former team and "Mrs Redknap could've scored that one" manager. So I'd be hoping for attacking returns from my Spurs defender, which isn't out of the question.

Would also leave me triple exposed to Spurs with a difficult defender bench decision:
    Ruddy, (Vorm)
Kompany, Brown, Evans, ( Bosingwa, R. Taylor)
Silva, Van der Vaart, Bale, Walters, Ramsey
    Van Persie, Agbonlahor, (Welbeck)

Better to spend points improving the goal keeping nightmare for the coming game week?

Bosingwa losing his place has got nothing to do with Alex being fit again. It is because he can't defend!

Indeed, it is because Chelsea were too open with him going forward.

To clarify my hit would be Bosingwa OUT, Walker/Assou IN.
Thinking about Baines in as an alternative also.

+1 I have held onto Moses for far too long and will be ejecting him for Drenthe myself this week. I don't have Murphy though but Fulham were very unlucky vs Spurs and could easily get something from Sunderland, or even at home to Arsenal - although the latter is unlikely if VP continues his current form.

Think of the type of person they are looking for and the qualities needed. Employers make a judgement about someone within seconds of meeting you so work on your appearance too.

Strong interpersonal skills (listener, communicates well and in the right way, etc) will go down well. Might be helpful if you've worked with children before.

Currently have Adebayor and Dyer.Is it worth downgrading Adebayor to Bendtner and upgrading Dyer to Drenthe would be a 4 point hit or could do them over the next 2 weeks or should I leave it thanks

I'd definitely consider it a good move. Your only risk is a major return to form from Ade but Drenthe & Bendtner are good prospects for next 4.

Rember Vorm played away this week, rotation with goalies can be counterproductive, they often make far more saves away, plus possibility of a clean sheet.

Yeah, i'd say it's very reliable for those over 100% and those 95% and over at around this time.
Fiso's more reliable for drops. Just monitor it every evening when playing the money game, and bring in players accordingly, you can't go wrong

Anyone got that rotation spread sheet for GKs. The Given - Vorm combo isnt working for me, I have left all of Vorm's clean sheets on the bench. Cheap is ideal as I need to shaft De Laet, Cabaye, Sturridge and maybe BAE over next weeks.

I am looking to downgrade Given to:

1 - Krul (got Simpson though)
    2 - Westwood
3 - Ruddy (play Vorm every GW)

I am very tempted by Vorm each week as I have got it horrifically wrong this year when selecting keepers. So Ruddy is very appealing and then I could have a Kompany, Enrique and Jones back 3.

Tempted by Westwood too as Sunderland have gd fixtures but not sure of that rotation.

Fair enough lads. I'm going with Vorm/ Howard on my WC. Got Vorm at 4.0 so a no brainer. Howard rotates perfectly and is not from a "weaker" team. I feel Moyes will get Everton going after their dire run and he will start with the basics....ie...clean sheets.

Kinda like how SAF sorting Utd after that game then you think? If it does look that way for Everton, I could do BAE to Hibbert if I want cover.

I had Vorm since start but cant play him when he gets a CS! That is why Ruddy tempts me a lot, so I can play Vorm all the time. I dont have a Sunderland defender too - so Westwood is on radar.

I wish I had another WC mate, used mine in first break, got team value up but that is about it! I got 5 changes I want to do.

Value. How much importance would you place on it vs hits?

I've got a good value at the moment, and have made 2 early transfers to preserve that to take out droppers/none players (Nasri & Bosingwa).

I've 2 more that I'm considering shipping. One is M Petrov. Now, Petrov -> Drenthe might not be the most showy of moves, but would stop me losing 0.1 in real terms. On top of that, I cant see Petrov getting back in after a 5-0 win without him, so thats 2 points back (assuming Drenthe starts). I could just use subs to cover it, but it starts to look like a decent hit, with Everton having Wolves at home, so Drenthe could get an assist to make it worth the hit.

The other one I'm considering, and the reason I ask, is Mr Suarez. Seems certain to drop 0.1, been very frustrating, but is a guaranteed starter, and is definitely quality. Doing him to Hernandez would save the 0.1, and give me a route into Man U's good fixtures, albeit a rotation threatened route.

Typing this, I seem to be convincing myself that Petrov > Drenthe is good, and Suarez > Hernandez bad, but yeah... is it worth taking hits to save value at this stage of the season?

Your team value is amazing, well done...and with no points hits.
It's not the be all and end all, but it's a great launch pad for you so early in the season.

      Suarez to Hernandez looks good

Thanks. I did well out of the GW4 wildcard. Think I found this site about then! If only I'd gone Silva over Nasri back then I'd really be laughing. I've some time to mull over my next move, but I was really trying to not take hits. I have just been able to get Silva in though thanks to my value, so maybe its worth it. Decisions decisions eh?

I agree with your thought process on Drenthe and Suarez. I don't think taking a hit to take out a player who has the potential to hurt you in that week. It wouldn't be shocking if Suarez scored/assisted against Chelsea and Hernandez could come up empty. Sometimes you have to take dips in value.

Personally I feel I have enough to worry about without adding player value into the equation.

Otherwise you'll end up spending more points when Drenthe and Hernandez get injured over the international break.

It's not that I absolutely religiously ignore value and always transfer on Saturday morning. I'll still make an obvious change early if it looks like prices will work against it. But I think I only do that when I'm shifting someone who's injured and falling in price.

Otherwise it's a big, rather unnecessary gamble.

I agree in principle Optimus. My team value was ridiculous at the end of last season but all the value was in mid price performers...I had like 3/4 million in the bank for the last 3/4 GWs and nowhere to spend it!! This year may be different of course.

        106.4 plus 0.2 Wow!! what's your rank??

I'm on my WC and would love to get Eagles for his probable double rise but don't know if I should sell Allen(whom I want in my final team) for him.My current midfield is: Bale,Ramsey,Silva,VdV,Allen so as you can see there is no place for Eagles, unless I sell Allen.Thoughts?

allen is better strategy wise as ull only play him at home when one of ur front 8 have a hard game.
eagles is more inconsistent and will hurt u sometimes scoring big on ur bench

Don't sell any of your players that have risen, that you want in your final team - you'll lose more than you gain.

Please help to comment these transfer plans.

      Krul Vorm
      Richards Brown Evans Simpson Naylor
      Mata Nani VDV Silva Dyer
      Ade Bendtner RVP

Is it worth to do: Nani > Bale + Mata > Lampard ?

I will end up with 3 spurs.. VDV, bale, Ade and no united in their (people said) good fixtures.

Is it a good or bad idea?

Why was RVP's assist taken away?

      Hey Guys,
Thinking about wildcarding to the following, though I'm not entirely happy with having Ferguson and a few others, can anyone spot anything really bad with it apart from Ferguson? 0.1 in bank

      Vorm - Ruddy

      Wilkinson - Kompany - Jones - McAuley - Simpson

Ferguson - Silva - Drenthe - Van der Vaart - Ramsey

Dzeko - Van Persie - Hernandez

      1) Thinking maybe downgrade Ramsey (assisting the assist) to Sessegnon allowing me to upgrade Ferguson to anyone at 4.6

      2) Swapping McAuley to Monk or Boyata (maybe back after the break, will he start)

      Anyone?

Dzeko and Hernandez are great but will frustrate you re: starts and production (though perhaps Hernandez less so. Balanced side though.

          Thanks for replying,
Yeh this is true might try and get Aguero instead of Dzeko (safer maybe?) and Sturridge for Hernandez (gives me chelsea coverage but no united!)
