With gameweek 12 now complete, it’s time to round up all the miscreants and take stock of the ramifications their offences will bring. We’ve already spoken of the 22 Saturday yellows in our previous review and after the addition of the Sunday and Monday games, that yellow card count ticked up to 29.

However, there were no further names joining Wigan’s Antolin Alcaraz, and the Saturday additions, Joey Barton, David Dunn, Stephen Hunt and Jamie O’Hara on the ban list for gameweek 13 (extending to GW14 in the case of the Wigan man).

Meanwhile, the population of the Suspension Tightrope was boosted tonight by a fourth yellow card for Villa’s reborn Bulgarian, Stiliyan Petrov. There are now up to 11 nervous souls on the tightrope, with Saturday’s new faces: Ryan Shawcross and Lee Cattermole, already making themselves uncomfortable on the high wire.

The final mention in the shake-up from gameweek 12 must go to the card happy pair of Steven N’Zonzi and Lucas Leiva. The Blackburn and Liverpool enforcers both picked up further yellows over the weekend. N’Zonzi’s in the bizarre 3-3 draw at Wigan, making that six in just 12 league appearances, with Lucas’ yellow in the win against Chelsea, his sixth in 13 games across league and cup this season. The pair now forge ahead together in the lead of the card ‘race’, with a two-match ban; the prize if either (or both) of them makes it to 10 before the distant April 8 deadline.

Gameweek 13 Bans

  • Antolin Alcaraz (Wigan) – FA Charge
  • Joey Barton (QPR) – 5 Yellows
  • David Dunn (Blackburn) – 1 Red for 2 bookings
  • Stephen Hunt (Wolves) – 5 Yellows
  • Jamie O’Hara (Wolves) – 5 Yellows

Gameweek 13 Tightrope

  • Gabby Agbonlahor (Aston Villa)
  • Stiliyan Petrov (Aston Villa)
  • Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
  • John Terry (Chelsea)
  • Brede Hangeland (Fulham)
  • Steve Sidwell (Fulham)
  • Gareth Barry (Man City)
  • Ryan Shawcross (Stoke)
  • Glenn Whelan (Stoke)
  • Lee Cattermole (Sunderland)
  • Richard Stearman (Wolves)

        ahhh ur right, it is between pikls and drenth unless u have the balls to bench silva against liverpool.
        i was in teh same situation this week with walters sess and moses so went and benched walters, so i dnt think u real need my advice there 😉
        but if u insist bench drenth for the only simple reason that he's away and i think qpr will be a bit lost with barton's suspension

    I'm looking at Vidic though as my only Manu cover...

      Problem is...beyond Silva, VDV, Lampard and Nani...they ain't a lot of options in midpark 🙁

      Baines plays as a midfielder with all the add ons of OOP, cs, assists, set plays, etc, etc. See my thinking?

        Of course. Thing is if the Cs and peno's dry up(and Drenthe shares the setplays) then there is not much left.

        I just don't like watching the games and then 10min into the game it's Eve 0-1 down. That kind of ruins it for me.

        If Cahill get's fit I will get him.

          SAF was very tight on defense the last 3 games and the everpresence of jones there means he's first choice, now he's gonna sit for the odd game, but with europe business under control and the carling cup, i think he will be starting the PL

      I'm here from the states on Holiday and I went to the game yesterday- before kickoff said Adebayor would get the first and would score 2. I thought VDV would score one as well- said 3-0...so I guess I did okay. Especially since I watched as both assists went to one of my midfielders and both goals to one of my strikers 🙂

      VDV was still heavily involved in the attack - he could of scored on a couple of occasions, free kicks, pens, corners - overall more likely to score big than Bale even on his best days. For me Bale is the option for getting into Spurs attack when funds are tight.

        I was at White Hart Lane yesterday for the game and came home to see people saying VDV played well. I thought he was absolute garbage to be honest- lots of stray passes and at times I saw him struggling a bit with his hamstring. I really don't think he is fully fit yet, get ready for another injury flare up...

      You are foolish not to. I've had him for about 5 weeks and he's outscored VDV by loads. He's in form...and it's not just his pace. He moves very well off the ball and gets into good positions. I think he will continue to score well for a few weeks, then I'll rotate him for the next in-form player

            8 point hit:
            Nani (3) and Warnock (1) = 4 vs 13 - 8 = 5. 1 point gain.

            4 point hit:
            Nani (3) vs Walters (7) - 4 = 0 point gain.

          The old discussion.. Did the same myself with Bos -> Jones and don´t regret it at all as it set up my team pretty nicely to not take hits in the next 4GW! Poit hits got to be made with sensible choices(of course luck is one random factor).

        pt hits have rules:
        -never take a hit for 1 player and bring the 2nd as a donkey to finance the trade, they should both have goo potential
        -never take a hit for a gk or a def unless u cnt field 11
        -only take the hit when the player deserves to be capt and capt him, that's the only way where it pays back big
        -never take a hit after ur 3rd pint

          I took a hit for a keeper this week and it paid off. The reason I did it was so that I don't have to take a hit next week as it frees up the funds I need for planned transfers. The hits are fine when done in the right gameweek.

      great for next week, not the one after.

      I like Walters as he is reliable in that he will more than likely score at home, but do nothing away...makes bench decisions so much easier.

      Look again on Friday - will have a much better idea then. I think that they may start Torres and Anelka but don't know about the third - Sturridge is a possibility.

    Shawcross and Ramsey to richards and pilkington for a 4 point hit? Been trying not to take too maky hits this year but is this one worth it? Will have zero in the bank after so if richards goes up today this move is prob off for a while

    oh hello. i was happy with my team. then i noticed i could do:

    Simpson or Naylor > BAE

    for a -4 hit.

    how's that for a tear jerking knees up moment?

    Trying to work out where to improve my team:

    Begovic, Vorm
    Kompany, Brown, Simpson, Wilkinson, NTaylor
    Silva, VDV, Ramsey, Cabaye, Dyer
    Van Persie, Aguero, Adebayor

    0.2 in bank

    Some transfers I'm considering:

    Begovic -> Krul / Schwarzer / Westwood
    Kompany -> Richards
    NTaylor -> PJones
    Wilkinson -> BAE
    Ramsey -> Walters
    Cabaye -> Drenthe

    Hey guys

    Which do you think are the better transfers:

    A: Moses - > Rodwell (dont know how long he is out for though)
    Ramsey -> Larsson

    OR

    B: Moses -> Drenthe
    Ramsey -> Sessegnon

    No other everton or sunderland coverage

    Cheers!

    I have mentioned this before and will do so again. Is now the time to take defense more seriously. Will we see an increase in clean sheets from now on as teams focus more on improving their defense. If so, are expensive 6m+ defenders now worth fantasy investment? Or are people still going to stick with a super cheap defense?

    What are peoples thoughts?

      I think I'm going to go with 1 pricey defender and 2 pairs of defenders who rotate with each other. Will reassess at the Jan wildcard.

      My big decision is which striker to bring in for GW15. candidates being Rooney, Chico and Suarez (not exactly popular choices at the moment....)

        As has been the trend on here. Personally if your only going to play 3 defenders I don't think you need to concentrate too hard on rotation. usually there will be 3 who have decent opposition every week. Also sometimes the expensive defender may have a tough game, surely he would need to be benched then?

        Good on ya. I have Enrique, Jones and BAE. I think defenders start to become more confident in attack at this time of year too so everyone should think more about getting these types of defenders in I reckon
