    aside from weekly transfers .. do you guys have a overall strategy when playing FPL ?

    e.g. spend more on defenders, in-form players vs players with good fixtures etc

    I feel that i need a good overall strategy for the season aside from the weekly transfers and all

      No, apart from not bringing in players for 1 week, only do it if they have a good run.

      I also like to keep some balance, so at least one expensive in each position in order to facilitate easier transfers

      This year I'd say good defenders and more importantly clean sheets are hard to come by. Therefore many have opted to have a middle and top heavy team and just have value defenders at the back.

      Form is important. But apart from maybe one or two players who can perform no matter who they play, the rest will rely on picking up points against weaker opposition. Therefore it is imperative to check the forthcoming fixtures.

      Form and fixture. Iv'e only been playing three years but have never seen someone rise consistently with lots of expensive defenders. I am sure the are some though. Probably the most impotant thing is to have a full team of midfield and forward starters, and if you can, playmakers for top half teams. Not easy but the more, the better. Defenders can change. Some years there is a clear choice and you usually would want two top three team's starting defenders and rotate the other three (or two and have one ultra-cheapie that you may never play but starts). Keepers I would keep cheap as only one can play every game and you need to invest 9m at minimum so get rotating cheap keeps. Especially this year when the difference between top club and number 10 club clean sheets is 2. QPR has as many cleanies as Man City (4).

      Or just go by gut feeling.

    Hello to 'all'... i just read that VDV is still nursing that hamstring injury and may not play... also, worried that Silva may not get game time due to the mid week CL match against Napoli... Have them both and am a bit worried...

    Any thoughts on this? What are others doing, using the bench or just going to tough it out and see what happens?

      Roughing it out. Depending on who you listen to RVP, Ramsey, Silva, VDV, Helgusson and Simpson are all doubts for one reason or another. That would leave me with 5 outfield players starting, most of which I'd want back next week so just biting my nails and nothing more.

      Always love your gravatar. I'm tempted to sell VDV for Lampard and not bring him back until I see him score a goal again. He has big fitness problems. Silva I'd play if I had him. He's a bit of a risk though, I guess.

      Very decent. He's got goal potential.

      Arse aren't known for their clean sheets but with the games they've got ahead there's only City who you would rule out a clean sheet chance.

      Anyway clean sheets are hard to come by this season.

      I've got 2 transfers this week.

      City have got some tough games coming up. Even if we win, I can't see many clean sheets coming from liv NOR chel ARS

      Only problem is Vermaelen isn't cheap but if you can afford him, Get him in!

    Got a few options in mind:
    1) VDV > Lamps
    2) VDV > Bale
    3) Stick with him.
    Just worried about gametime, and because I have Silva and Rooney, who are both doubts, I'm just not sure if I need someone a bit more dependable
