So near and yet so far. Last weekend in the Fantasy Flutter, we backed the Scout Picks by putting faith in Leighton Baines and, although he came up trumps with a goal and an assist, our money went on the wrong market – we went for a free-kick goal.

Baines joins a host of familiar Fantasy names in this week’s lineup. If he can come good again when he visits the Reebok, we could yet wipe the smile from Paddy’s face. Let’s see what our bookmaker friends have laid out for us this weekend.

We start at the back, with Baines represented in the “Flutter” for a second consecutive week. This time around we can get 25/1 on a repeat goal and assist showing, or 10/1 on a dead-ball goal. We’ll take the latter, placing £1 of this week’s funds on Baines to deliver as David Moyes’ side look for back-to-back wins.

Norwich City’s Anthony Pilkington was just edged out in the Scout Picks this week, with team-mate Steve Morison getting the nod on our bench. Despite that, Pilkington will be well fancied by plenty of Fantasy managers going into the Carrow Road meeting with QPR, and Paddy are offering three tempting bets to back the former Huddersfield man. Pilkington has been amongst the goals this season and, although Paddy have 10/1 on the winger repeating his stunning free-kick goal at Villa Park, we’ll take £2 on the more modest 5/2 on an anytime goal.

Gareth Bale is one player firmly settled in our Scout Pick lineup this week. Having returned two assists in the 2-0 defeat of Villa on Monday night, Paddy are dangling odds of 16/1 on a repeat showing when Spurs travel to West Brom. We can go with 9/4 on a single assist in the game at the Hawthorns, but we see the Welshman continuing his outstanding form with a goal and assist combination – throwing £2 Paddy’s way with odds of 12/1 on offer.

Our final single player bet this week finds us looking to Swansea’s Scott Sinclair for the third time this season in the “Flutter”. So far, the winger has fetched us winnings on both occasions – so we go into Swansea’s meet with Villa hoping for a hat-trick of wins. We can play safe here, and take up Paddy’s offer of 3/1 on an assist, but we’ll show a little more ambition and back Sinclair for a dead-ball goal with 13/2 on offer. Sinclair claims £3 of this week’s stake.

That leaves a couple of quid to throw at our “Score the Most Goals” market, with three goalscoring midfielders going head-to-head. Both Frank Lampard and Rafael Van der Vaart are well fancied by Paddy here, so we’ll back the underdog with our final £2 – going with Theo Walcott at 5/2 to be amongst the goals and outscore the other pairing, when he meets Fulham at the Emirates.

Money Back Special

Staying with the Arsenal vs Fulham clash in North London, Paddy are offering to refund all first/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast single bets on the match if Robin Van Persie scores the first goal of the game.

    Vorm
    Enrique, Shawcross, P.Jones
    VDV, Walters, Ramsey, Drenthe, Silva
    Bendy, RVP

Subs: Aggy, Warnock, Raylor, Al Habsi

1 FT and 1.8m in the bank. Really want to get rid of Aggy & Warnock but don’t have the funds for Hernandez. Sturridge? Klasnic? Walker? Jags? Brown? Bale for VDV and then get Hernandez?

Also, Chelsea appear to be in a funk at the moment so its not guaranteed that they're going to rip Wolves apart today. Spurs bring much better form to the table than Chelsea do.

Yeah but, as I said, current team form is not exactly supporting that gamble. Plus, you may want that free transfer next week instead of waiting it on swapping back to VdV again.

Up to you at the end of the day but I'm not a great fan (or, even a fan at all) of wasting transfers on a one week gamble unless I'm wildcarding immediately the week after.

I think my defence is looking a bit weak both for this week and for the winter who would you suggest booting and getting in:

2 red arrows in a row have left me a bit lacking in confidence at the moment. The potential that VdV won't play has not helped matters and leaves me wondering whether I should go VdV to Bale now.

Anyway, here's me team, folks. Advice or reassurance needed please:

    Vorm
    Kompany, Enrique, Naylor

Yeah, wouldn't mind someone like Joe Allen or Ale Faurlin instead but its not a pressing need and BJ is a decent player to have come off your bench.

Just concerned that VdV doesn't play. Only have £0.5m in bank so not a lot of room to do things with if he is missing today.

If I save the transfer to next week then I can have 2 frees, which means if Rooney does naff all again today or VdV is our for a while then I have greater flexibility with making changes.

However, Bale could go mental today, VdV not play and I fall further behind! Just feels like whatever I dcide at the moment is going to be the wrong move.

Do you think Stoke has bigger chance to get a clean sheet than ManU? Ramsey has been shite and propably get a rest today. I'd like to get a rid of him but don't know who to bring in? What about VDV to Lampard and captaining him?

No, I said that n the basis that Evans won't play.

Re VdV to Lamps, see my notes above. Chelsea form going into this game is very poor and AVB is already under pressure. Spurs are in red hot form right now.

Based on the maxim of Form trumping Fixtures its difficult to see Chelsea going medieval on Wolves. It could happen but their recent displays suggest that's unlikely. Its more likely to be a close Chelsea win, something like 2-1.

Also, look at the games after this immediate gameweek. Chelsea have some tough ones whereas Spurs schedule is cake. After this Wolves game I'd certainly want Bale or a fit VdV instead of Lampard for the foreseeable future.
