So near and yet so far. Last weekend in the Fantasy Flutter, we backed the Scout Picks by putting faith in Leighton Baines and, although he came up trumps with a goal and an assist, our money went on the wrong market – we went for a free-kick goal.

Baines joins a host of familiar Fantasy names in this week’s lineup. If he can come good again when he visits the Reebok, we could yet wipe the smile from Paddy’s face. Let’s see what our bookmaker friends have laid out for us this weekend.

We start at the back, with Baines represented in the “Flutter” for a second consecutive week. This time around we can get 25/1 on a repeat goal and assist showing, or 10/1 on a dead-ball goal. We’ll take the latter, placing £1 of this week’s funds on Baines to deliver as David Moyes’ side look for back-to-back wins.

Norwich City’s Anthony Pilkington was just edged out in the Scout Picks this week, with team-mate Steve Morison getting the nod on our bench. Despite that, Pilkington will be well fancied by plenty of Fantasy managers going into the Carrow Road meeting with QPR, and Paddy are offering three tempting bets to back the former Huddersfield man. Pilkington has been amongst the goals this season and, although Paddy have 10/1 on the winger repeating his stunning free-kick goal at Villa Park, we’ll take £2 on the more modest 5/2 on an anytime goal.

Gareth Bale is one player firmly settled in our Scout Pick lineup this week. Having returned two assists in the 2-0 defeat of Villa on Monday night, Paddy are dangling odds of 16/1 on a repeat showing when Spurs travel to West Brom. We can go with 9/4 on a single assist in the game at the Hawthorns, but we see the Welshman continuing his outstanding form with a goal and assist combination – throwing £2 Paddy’s way with odds of 12/1 on offer.

Our final single player bet this week finds us looking to Swansea’s Scott Sinclair for the third time this season in the “Flutter”. So far, the winger has fetched us winnings on both occasions – so we go into Swansea’s meet with Villa hoping for a hat-trick of wins. We can play safe here, and take up Paddy’s offer of 3/1 on an assist, but we’ll show a little more ambition and back Sinclair for a dead-ball goal with 13/2 on offer. Sinclair claims £3 of this week’s stake.

That leaves a couple of quid to throw at our “Score the Most Goals” market, with three goalscoring midfielders going head-to-head. Both Frank Lampard and Rafael Van der Vaart are well fancied by Paddy here, so we’ll back the underdog with our final £2 – going with Theo Walcott at 5/2 to be amongst the goals and outscore the other pairing, when he meets Fulham at the Emirates.

Money Back Special

Staying with the Arsenal vs Fulham clash in North London, Paddy are offering to refund all first/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast single bets on the match if Robin Van Persie scores the first goal of the game.

If you’re new to this betting lark and new to Paddy Power then you can take up any of these odds and offers and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

My 2 immediate rivals have Vermaelen.

I'm looking for a replacement for Bosingwa and can either bring in Vermaelen or Santos.

Question is, should I also get the Verm or should I go for a differential?

I'd go with Santos, both are good choices, and for the same price I might go for Verm, but I could easily see Santos chipping with an assist or goal.

That was my initial thought as well, but got a little nervous after thinking about the Verminator and the damage he can do from set pieces (both taking them and also through headers). Then again Santos seems to be playing like a winger... which brings him into attacking positions a lot more than Verm....

Need some help guys: Team is:

    Vorm Begovic
    Naylor Simpson Gabbidon Enrique Brown
    VDV Nani Ramsey Walters Dyer
    RVP Rooney Sturridge

2 free transfers and 2.5 in the bank.
Thinking Nani to Lamps and save a transfer
    Or sort out my defence?
    What would you do?

Silva's best GW so far has been away to Man U, so fixtures aren't a problem. The other guys advice in regard to your defence is sound too, so maybe look at that first and save a transfer?

You could try and shoe-horn P Jones into that back line somehow. He looks solid for regular starts at ManU this season. Plus ManU are playing defensively at the moment.

Nani to Lamps seems a good transfer. But then I'm not sure whether I'd want 2 Chelsea players at this moment in time (saying that, I do). Your defence is a bit on the weak side, maybe upgrade Gabbidon to a £5m defender, who you're happy to start every week unless the others have good fixtures?

Ugh. Stayed up till 2am playing modern waefare 3, and a tired stupor did VDV to Lampard. Seemed a good idea at the time. In two minds now as ill almost certainly want him back in a week. Ah sure it's a gamble but the way I see it if Vdv doesn't play and lamps does well I'll recoup someo money next week.

This is why I have not been recommending that move when people have suggested it on the other page, RVP4CPT.

Chelsea form not good at moment so no guarantee they're going to stick a hatful past a Wolves side who will be needing to start picking up points. Even if they do, after this week Chelsea have some toughies whereas Spurs schedule is gorgeous and they have form on their side.

Anyone doing VdV to Lamps will certainly want VdV back next week over Lamps if both are fit.

And what if one or two of your starters get injured and you want to replace them? You now have to take a hit to do it.

! week gambles rarely work anyway at least that's been my brief experience with them.

Sorry for clouding the waters, but I'm not so sure about that mate.

With Anderson & Cleverley out for at least a month Rooney could still play in midfield as I'm not sure SAF has a nailed on replacement for the other centre midfield spot.

I've held on to Rooney for far too long (probably my blind faith as a United season ticket holder) and have decided to get rid today for Hernandez. Rooney may not even start as SAF was far from convincing about his recovery yesterday.

    Vorm - Ruddy
    Brown - Kompany - Richards - RTaylor - Simpson
    Sinclair - Bale - Silva - VDV - Tiote
    Adebayor - RVP - Graham

C goes to RVP naturally, and Tiote is injured. Who else to bench?

Maybe I'll put my whole Newcastle team to bench. I've also got 2.4 in the bank and free transfer to use...

Differential is what I've gone for 🙂

And I'm taking a risk on Suarez, once this GW is out the way Fulham, QPR, Villa, Wigan, Blackburn sounds a tempting run!

At £9m+ you'd expect more from him than what he's given you up till now.

You have no big hitter in that frontline so you really need to get RVP or Aguero. Lamps to Silva and Suarez to RVP would be moves I'd make over the next few weeks.

Just get rid and start enjoying Saturday afternoons again.

Get him back in January when he goes to QPR to replace Taarabt and will have a better supporting cast around him. He'll be reunited with Warnock who did wonders for him at Palace.

    Hello to ALL,
Was wanting to ask if anyone has a Balotelli problem for this GW and if so, what to do with him?

Given that he played in CL plus last GW, do I risk it and leave him in or get someone else... Maybe Chica ?? (I have RVP and Bendtner and can afford a swap to Chica)

Any advise would be kindly appreciated.

I was going to get rid of him last week, and he popped up with a goal. I'm going to stick again and get rid the time he doesn't play. The whole City front line is a problem, but they all score well when playing. Depends if you can stand the stress of not knowing.
