Arsene Wenger admits of “red alert” worries over certain players’ fitness. Zoltan Gera picks up a serious knee injury against Spurs, while Blackburn could welcome back their captain for next weekend’s game against Swansea.

Arsene Wenger has warned of fitness and fatigue issues amongst his Arsenal squad after their below-par performance against Fulham at the weekend. The Gunners boss feels he may have pushed some of his players too far over the last few weeks and looks likely to give many the night off against Man City in Tuesday’s Carling Cup tie. With Robin Van Persie amongst those mentioned, Fantasy managers will be hoping the Arsenal skipper is excluded from tomorrow night’s action ahead of a trip to Wigan that will surely prompt many to hand him the armband:

We have to consider the injuries we have. We have red alerts on a few players. We have a few players on the edge like van Persie, of course, and Walcott, who had a hamstring alert and Ramsey as well. We’ll see how they respond to 24 hours’ rest. Walcott’s hamstring was picked up during the game but he should be OK. At half-time they said he’s all right.

West Brom confirmed earlier today that Zoltan Gera will be sidelined for the foreseeable future after picking up a serious knee injury at the weekend. The Hungarian had only just recovered from injury and made a return to the first-team in gameweek eleven, with Roy Hodgson accommodating him behind a lone front man in a 4-4-1-1. Gera will receive further scans this week to reveal the extent of the problem, with the likes of Peter Odemwingie and Simon Cox likely to see an upturn in game time alongside Shane Long up front as a result of his absence.

Roberto Mancini is expected to make wholesale changes for Man City’s Carling Cup clash with Arsenal tomorrow. The game, just over forty-eight hours after their draw at Anfield, could see Owen Hargreaves set to return, though Gareth Barry and Mario Balotelli will be unavailable due to suspension. Barry picked up his fifth yellow card of the season at Anfield yesterday, while Balotelli’s two yellows and subsequent dismissal means he misses the Gunners clash. Both will be available for the home game with Norwich next weekend.

Reports suggest both Michel Salgado could recover from a hamstring injury in time for Blackburn’s Carling Cup trip to Cardiff. Steve Kean welcomes back David Dunn, after the midfielder served a one match suspension against Stoke at the weekend. Kean admitted he expects Chris Samba and Martin Olsson to be available for Rovers’ crucial home clash with Swansea at the weekend. The pair have missed the last two games with hamstring problems, with the club slipping back to the bottom of the table.

John Terry will miss Chelsea’s Carling Cup match with Liverpool tomorrow after picking up his fifth booking of the season in Saturday’s game against Wolves. The Blues skipper was yellow-carded for his continued hesitancy in taking a throw-in, though Andre Villas-Boas moved to deny suggestions it was deliberate ploy to ensure Terry’s availability for the weekend league trip to Newcastle. Frank Lampard will play tomorrow night, after being rested for the Wolves game- he was also sitting on four yellows prior to the 3-0 win.

Alan Pardew faces a selection dilemma ahead of the Chelsea game, after Jonas Gutierrez’s dismissal at Old Trafford on Saturday. The Argentine will serve an automatic one-match suspension.

Mick McCarthy will have to do without the services of Karl Henry against Sunderland this weekend. Big Mick welcomes back Jamie O’Hara and Stephen Hunt from suspension but Henry picked up his fifth booking of the season at Chelsea, meaning he will serve a one-match ban and sit out the crucial home clash.

Kaz, at £10.3m, this should mean many of these premature sellers will lose £0.4m if they try to buy him back, which they will. Personally, it's a good thing for lots to sell DVD now, good for DVD keepers like you and I. 🙂

Alright gents, after some tragic decisions about who to bench last week, I think i've scraped through in the PPC with a cheeky 44. Here's my lot for this week:

    Westwood - Krul
    Kompany - NTaylor - Brown - Shawcross - Martin R
Sinclair - Van der Vaart - Bale - Silva - Pilkington
Ba - Van Persie - Sturridge

    2.4 in the bank.

Thinking Sinclair to O'Hara and ShawX to Baines, would that be a bit risky? Would be for a 4 point hit, just had enough of Sinclair's inconsistency and Stoke seem to have forgotten how to keep a clean sheet.

Sounds good to me, looking at getting in Baines myself. Personally I'd choose someone else than O'Hara, he doesn't usually deliver the monster scores without being played OOP. Brunt/HBA are players in the same price range that I would prefer.

I put him in for Warnock for GW 13. Rangel plays 23 minutes and Warnock gets a CS. Bad transfer! Thought I'd made the right move when Rangel went up 0.1 the following day.

Thinking of going Rangel > Jagielka early this week before Jags goes up and Rangel possibly goes down when news officially breaks.

There's the FPL Cup, you get entered automatically before losing to a team that hasn't been touched since GW1.

I think there's another cup on here later in the season (one has already started) - there'll be details on here of how to enter, before you fail to qualify for it or lose in the first round to someone you've never seen post on here.

Last season a poster called TorresMagic set up another cup, not sen him much this year so no idea if that will be going ahead again.

Cannot figure out who to get in for next week. I saved my transfer last week so I could have 2 free- ended up working out for me- I am surprised 68 points put me above 40k for the GW. But, moving forward, who is looking a decent shout? I can't sort through these fixtures!

Yeah, I think the boring move is deffo on the cards- my attackers have been doing quite well the last few weeks. I don't know that Sunderland's defence will keep a cleanie at Wolves though- I predict a high scoring game there

    OK. Here's the question.

    Baines or Jagielka?

Over their next 10 games, I can see Everton getting about 4/5 cleanies, and with a DGW as well, I'm set on a defender - for me, it's Baines or Jags.

I reckon Baines may get maybe 1/2 more goals in the period, and 3/4 more assists (and probably around 8-10 more bonus).

So what do you think of my estimates, and if they're good, is Baines worth the extra 2.5?

Nope, he just went up 0.1. This happens every time a player goes up in price, the 30,000 was yesterdays purchase total. The system then subtracts this amount the next day to go back to 0. Everything will even up tomorrow. Pay attention to the NTI column http://www.fiso.co.uk/crackthecode.php, Net transfers today so far are 9,700, so in other words people are buying him like crazy.

I likely likely Mac. Cerny could be a nice cheap call, Kenny the Pub Player is out for a while, I read. Rambo out is where I'll be heading soon too, he's not doing to job, but I'm not yet convinced by Barfa, and I'm starting to wonder if the Drenthe bandwagon was worthy. Why was he out last week?

Mata because Chelsea dont look like keeping clean sheets, Cashley doesnt attack as much as people think, and Mata is just better and will continue to get better.

Mata I guess. Wouldn't be looking to bring him unless though, poor fixtures don't make up for his form yet. Young has no form I'd wait for some signs before moving for him.

Ferguson > Mata - 4 point hit or

            Given > Ruddy
            Ferguson > Young - 8 point hit

Ferguson to Mata is a nice option to have! Last season I did Jerome Thomas to Lampard 🙂

Was wondering why Chelsea's lack of clean sheets was a reason to pick Mata 🙂

Mata. Better player in a better team with a better manager and a more attacking philosophy.

The fact that Chelsea dont defend makes them a more attacking side ? 😀

Not much between them. Young with the better fixtures but Mata for me is the better player and more important to his team. Both in great teams with slight form concerns. Overall I would rather have Mata.

Chelsea have city, spurs and newcastle in 3 of the next 4 weeks but mata is on form
United have an easier run but i don't see young doing well fantasy points wise so i would go with mata cos i think he'll get a few goals/assists

I don't think 4 point hits are worth it for defenders, especially this year. If Everton concede, it's already a pointless swap

But Jagielka's price is going to rise... probably tomorrow morning and I have the exact amount of money for that swap so do it or leave it?

sometimes you just have to do it despite not having a FT. You may need to change someone else next week. Jags looks good for the upcoming run of fixtures.

I'm probably getting him in also, and taking a hit to do it. Hopefully he'll repay that over the next 10 weeks or so

If you are around Applebonkers, congratulations on your cup win. It was my transfers that did me. I really thought Lampard was going to tear it up this week and to get him i had to downgrade Kompany who i didn't think would get a cleansheet and he's not exactly known for his goal threat. Who'd have thought Lamps would be benched and Kompany would've scored?! Couldn't have really gone much worse. Anyway, good luck in the next round

I did something similar: brought Lamp and trasfered Kompany out for Jones. Bad luck....

Is Rooney to Aguero this week worth a 4 point hit? I'm getting bored of waiting for Rooney to do something special..
