Arsene Wenger admits of “red alert” worries over certain players’ fitness. Zoltan Gera picks up a serious knee injury against Spurs, while Blackburn could welcome back their captain for next weekend’s game against Swansea.

Arsene Wenger has warned of fitness and fatigue issues amongst his Arsenal squad after their below-par performance against Fulham at the weekend. The Gunners boss feels he may have pushed some of his players too far over the last few weeks and looks likely to give many the night off against Man City in Tuesday’s Carling Cup tie. With Robin Van Persie amongst those mentioned, Fantasy managers will be hoping the Arsenal skipper is excluded from tomorrow night’s action ahead of a trip to Wigan that will surely prompt many to hand him the armband:

We have to consider the injuries we have. We have red alerts on a few players. We have a few players on the edge like van Persie, of course, and Walcott, who had a hamstring alert and Ramsey as well. We’ll see how they respond to 24 hours’ rest. Walcott’s hamstring was picked up during the game but he should be OK. At half-time they said he’s all right.

West Brom confirmed earlier today that Zoltan Gera will be sidelined for the foreseeable future after picking up a serious knee injury at the weekend. The Hungarian had only just recovered from injury and made a return to the first-team in gameweek eleven, with Roy Hodgson accommodating him behind a lone front man in a 4-4-1-1. Gera will receive further scans this week to reveal the extent of the problem, with the likes of Peter Odemwingie and Simon Cox likely to see an upturn in game time alongside Shane Long up front as a result of his absence.

Roberto Mancini is expected to make wholesale changes for Man City’s Carling Cup clash with Arsenal tomorrow. The game, just over forty-eight hours after their draw at Anfield, could see Owen Hargreaves set to return, though Gareth Barry and Mario Balotelli will be unavailable due to suspension. Barry picked up his fifth yellow card of the season at Anfield yesterday, while Balotelli’s two yellows and subsequent dismissal means he misses the Gunners clash. Both will be available for the home game with Norwich next weekend.

Reports suggest both Michel Salgado could recover from a hamstring injury in time for Blackburn’s Carling Cup trip to Cardiff. Steve Kean welcomes back David Dunn, after the midfielder served a one match suspension against Stoke at the weekend. Kean admitted he expects Chris Samba and Martin Olsson to be available for Rovers’ crucial home clash with Swansea at the weekend. The pair have missed the last two games with hamstring problems, with the club slipping back to the bottom of the table.

John Terry will miss Chelsea’s Carling Cup match with Liverpool tomorrow after picking up his fifth booking of the season in Saturday’s game against Wolves. The Blues skipper was yellow-carded for his continued hesitancy in taking a throw-in, though Andre Villas-Boas moved to deny suggestions it was deliberate ploy to ensure Terry’s availability for the weekend league trip to Newcastle. Frank Lampard will play tomorrow night, after being rested for the Wolves game- he was also sitting on four yellows prior to the 3-0 win.

Alan Pardew faces a selection dilemma ahead of the Chelsea game, after Jonas Gutierrez’s dismissal at Old Trafford on Saturday. The Argentine will serve an automatic one-match suspension.

Mick McCarthy will have to do without the services of Karl Henry against Sunderland this weekend. Big Mick welcomes back Jamie O’Hara and Stephen Hunt from suspension but Henry picked up his fifth booking of the season at Chelsea, meaning he will serve a one-match ban and sit out the crucial home clash.

I reckon The Sameobi will be unleashed against Chelsea as Jonas's replacement. As a result of losing Jonas's hard work defensively I wouldnt be overly surprised to see Ryan Taylor potentially replaced by Santon or a more defensive fullback.
Chances are he will keep Raylor in though, I've been predicting the downfall of the raylor wagon ever since I launched it GW38 2010/11

What about Raylor playing in midfield instead of Jonas, with Santon taking his place in defence?

Going to the game on Saturday, looking forward to being stuck way up in the clouds at the Sports Direct Arena.

He could possibly go with Raylor as a wide mid, again presumably meaning that Santon would start. Though I think the team will be

        __________Ba__________
        Sameobi_Ben Arfa_Obertan
        ____Tiote_____Cabaye___
        Raylor_Saylor_Coloccini_Simpson

If he includes Raylor as a mid, he would be doing so over the head of Guthrie and Gosling, and I think the former in particular has done well lately so can't see it happening. Sammy has looked good this season, and I reckon his pace and general Asprilla-esque bendy legs can cause Ivanovic a few problems so I expect him to be given a chance.
If he wants to play safer he should HBA left and Guthrie CM with Cabaye and Tiote (if fit) DM. Doubt he will, he was pretty adventurous against both City and Utd so I expect more of the same.
The final alternative is in the case that Leon Best is back, again that could see HBA LW and Best back up front. Doubt it though.

Surely Raylor would only play on the wing though and not centre mid if he were to play in midfield?

He could, but I doubt he will. It'll be Sammy Ameobi or Gosling who gets a game next week. I reckon Sammy.

Other alternative is if Tiote is fit, might play Guthrie wide and Obertan on the left.

MAN CITY NOR, che, ARS, STO, wba, sun
MAN UTD avl, WOL, qpr, ful, WIG, BLA

I'd prefer United's fixtures overall, unless you want to keep transferring them in and out which could work. Far more chance that Aguero will be rotated/rested in the easier matches due to City's squad depth, yes Rooney is a bit poor at the moment but I for one am holding on.

It is because people couldn't get their team set up and the person who runs the league thought it would be fairer. Although they had 3 weeks to set up their team before.

You should look at fixtures RVP and Ade have been going against weak defensive sides. I got rooney out after the Norwich game way back since all the games looked low scoring. I would not expect much from RVP or Ade either if they would be going against Newcastle or Swans away. Now he could get something at the Villa game, but Wolwes are poor and he will be in on the goals for sure.

    Sczeney (Al-Habsi)
    Richards (Ward) (R.Taylor) Brown Shawcross
    Silva Bale Brunt (Ramires) Sessengon
    Van Persie Adebayor Yakubu

Already done Arteta out Bale in so far this gameweek.
Should I make another transfer or leave it as it is???

    Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for some imput if you have a moment.

    This is my team:

    Vorm, Ruddy

    Brown, Shawx, Jones, Ward, Simpson

    Silva, Sinclair, Ferguson, Bale, Eagles

    Adebayor, RVP, Aguero

    2.9 in the Bank

I've been thinking of doing longterm Shawx > Richards.

The other option would be shortterm Shawx > Jagielka. I don't know what sort of form Jagielka is in but he has the fixtures.

Would like to bring in Larsson next week, maybe for Sinclair

    Thoughts? Other options?

Another Question, Wild Cards, If you play your wild card, what is the best way to make the most of the price rises going on that week? Is it possible to buy and sell players within that week and make the most of the rises or is that a waste of time?I guess most players are not rising twice in one week but I would appreciate your advice.

Everton fixtures look really tasty, but with only 2 clean sheets this term, does it really matter? Baines to me looks like the only worthwhile purchase, where there are no clean sheets guaranteed or in any way certain, at least he has best chance to score.

Would LOVE to get Jagielka IF I had any faith in them keeping clean sheets, but I don't. I remember a similar run of games last year where Jagielka got 5 points for my team in 6 weeks, a series of one pointers through yellow cards, then a red (or maybe a -2 drubbing), so I am wary of "good fixtures" where it comes to Everton.

    Just my thoughts.

Thanks, I had a terrible run with Chelsea at the start of the year, fixtures good, form awful.I need to learn to go with form.

I'm happy to own Baines. The last two fixtures have shown that he can get points at both ends (and I do think this new BP system favours full-backs too). Sure he isn't going to get you a great score everyweek but at least you know that he can misfire offensively and still sneak a cleanie or he can let one in and all Everton need is a peno and he's back on a good score.

Yeah, Baines looks the best pick, It's just if I get him in I can't do alot of the transfers I want over the next 3-4 weeks
