If you’ve been soaking up the plentiful Scout Tweets or pouring over our daily Scout Scribbles, then you’ll have seen the various snippets of disciplinary news over the last few days. With the completion of the Carling Cup quarter finals, this is a good chance for a round up.

First into the dock in this update is our new best (or worst?) friend Stephen N’Zonzi. The Blackburn midfielder may have thought he’d escaped Saturday’s bruising encounter at the Britannia unpunished, but while his flailing elbows were missed by referee Mark Halsey, the FA panel have stepped in to ensure some retribution is dished out in the form of a 3 match ban. The first of these was served in Tuesday night’s cup tie, so two more games to go means he’ll sit out the fixtures in gameweeks 14 and 15 (SWA, sun).

With N’Zonzi now sidelined and Lucas a doubt with a scan due on his knee, Blackburn’s Jason Lowe has drawn level with the pair on six yellow cards, having picked up a booking in the cup loss against Cardiff. Elsewhere in the cup games, there was a fourth yellow card for David Luiz (for a dive, no less) which adds him to our tightrope list for the weekend games. There was also a case of mistaken identity in that game which saw Ryan Bertrand pick up a card for a foul by Romelu Lukaku- we’ll keep an eye on whether this gets reassigned or not. Neither player is anywhere near a ban though, so no immediate effect.

One face no longer part of the suspension tightrope is Richard Stearman. A yellow card wrongly attributed to him by the Press Association in the gameweek 4 fixture against Spurs had been reviewed and removed- Stearman now sits on 3 yellows to date.

GAMEWEEK 14 BANS

  • Stephen N’Zonzi (Blackburn) – FA Charge (Second of 3 matches)
  • David Wheater (Bolton) – 1 Red for serious foul play (First of 4 matches)
  • Jonas Gutierrez (Newcastle) – 1 Red for 2 bookings (1 match)
  • Antolin Alcaraz (Wigan) – FA Charge (1 remaining match)
  • Karl Henry (Wolves) – 5 Yellows (1 match)

SUSPENSION TIGHTROPE – FOUR BOOKINGS

  • Gabby Agbonlahor (Aston Villa)
  • Stiliyan Petrov (Aston Villa)
  • Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
  • David Luiz (Chelsea)
  • Brede Hangeland (Fulham)
  • Steve Sidwell (Fulham)
  • Yohan Cabaye (Newcastle)
  • Ryan Shawcross (Stoke)
  • Glenn Whelan (Stoke)
  • Lee Cattermole (Sunderland)

      😆 @ "and he's against Gary Caldwell".

Logic suggest that everyone should be very wary of captaining Aguero or VDV this week as there are substantial question marks over their starts. At a push you may even add Silva to that list with the absolutely massive game against Bayern mid-week.

As such RVP is the dull but safe and logical choice.

It's the first of December, so what would every Hannover 96 fan want for Christmas? Probably not this:

    http://500reasonstolovefootball.blogspot.com/2011/12/331-best-toaster-in-world.html

Still, Mario Götze's got an advent calender on his site with a chance to win a Borussia Dortmund shirt, a German national team shirt and a pair of Nike boots. There's no truth to the rumours that Wenger has bombarded the site with e-mails, hoping to win the player himself for Arsenal.

ok lads and ladettets. Team is linked but here is my dilema

Last week I had a shocker with 4 players not playing (VdV, Jones, Tiote and Woodgate). Now I think it's nailed on that Jones will play this w/e, VdV and Tiote are doubts and I don't think Woodgate will. I have 2 frees, but want 2 for next week, so I have the 1 available. My original plan was to replace Sinclair with Drenthe or O'Hara but I'm wondering if a short-term transfer for Woodgate is better to give me 1 extra guaranteed start, or replacing Westwood with Cerny in the short term is a better option.

    I'd appreciate your thoughts.

I'm not sure Drenthe is going to start, so that wouldn't be wise. As long as you have 3 defender you're sure are gonna play, Tiote would be my priority. Saying that you have 2 Swansea midfielders, 1 is enough surely?

hence why I looked at Sinclair, cos there are none better than Allen in his price range, whilst there are some decent options around the 6 million mark. I have Jones, BAE and Raylor all nailed onto start (and Brown on the bench) and O'Hara has decent fixtures, and rotates well with Allen.

Woodgate is being taken out either next week or week after as I believe I have enough defensive coverage, and Tiote is gone next week with one of my 2 frees (after Aguero departs for Ba), just thinking that, as Jukesy said, 2 Swans midfielders is too much, and getting rid of 1 also allows me to pick a Swans defender if I wanted to.

Am I insane for thinking of taking Silva out? With Bayern next week there is a chance he will be rested/limited in time on pitch. Then I predict City might have a rough post-Champions League exit phase against Chelsea and Arsenal...

I'd lose a potential 0.4 but could have VDV and Mata for 4 gameweeks

Silva 'plays' for my team too, so your point made me thinking whether I should not do the same. However, if ManC win against Bayern and qualify that will give them a solid boost of confidance against Chelsea and Arsenal. Besides, Chelsea are not performing as consistently as everyone thought they will. With rumors of AVB being sacked along with the high likelihood of Chelsea being defeated or drawn by Newcastle this weekend and repeating the same feat the following week (vs Man C) this will put further pressure on the Chelsea team. So, it is not difficult to see that ManC may be in a better position of taking something out of Chelsea. When it comes to Arsenal, Man City are playing home and last time when Arsenal played against another title challenger team, which is also in-form, everyone remembers what happened. For me, Arsenal still has to proof that it has dealt with its problems encountered at the beginning of the season, especially, against the other strong title challengers. My point is - keep Silva. He will be pivotal for ManC in all these games.

Keepers and forwards I'm happy with
Defence this week is reasonably decent - may bring in Enrique next week though
If Drenthe doesn't feature then Walters is a good backup.

I'm open for any suggestions which you feel will be worth a hit.

I think stick with Enrique for next week. Nothing needs changing for a hit there I don't think! Just fingers crossed that Drenthe plays, I would play Walters over Dyer all day long though!

    My team:

    Westwood, (Krul)
    Enrique, Olsson, Hibbert, (STaylor), (Rangel)
    Mata, Silva, Ramsey, Bale, (Drenthe)
    Adebayor, RVP, Sturridge

Now I'm debating whether or not to use a transfer this week.

My options would be something along the lines of:

Sturridge -> Yakubu (Then upgrade Drenthe/Ramsey next week)

Drenthe (if he doesn't play) -> Brunt, or similar

Or to just stick with it and have 2 transfers to play around with next week?

I think 3 of Ade, RVP, Ba and Sturridge is the best front 3 you can get, so I'd stick with your forwards.

Agreed. After this week I'm probably doing Aguero -> Ba and I'll have RVP, Ade and Ba. Oh, and a lot in the bank!

Oooh, close matchup in round 2. 45,245 (me) Vs 64,280 (him). Pre this week transfers (both 1 freebie) who do you fancy to win this match up?

Me: Westwood, Vermaelen, Simpson/Wilko, Ramsey, Aguero
Him: Vorm, Kompany, Baines, Walters, Moses

      1 red = 3 game ban
2nd red of season = 4 game ban.
      3rd red = 5 game ban etc.

Wheater has 2 reds this season, so has a 4 game ban.

I have Bale(c) - Bolton have conceded the most in the league (32 goals).

However, RVP is playing Wigan... (Will Al Habsi keep him out?)

    Who should I captain?

RVP. Only people I would contemplate changing for are an in form/guaranteed starting VDV or Aguero. Neither are. That said, Ade is also up there. Bale, naaaah.

Yeah I've got RVP and Ade so similar dilemma - Generally better to captain guy playing at home if in doubt.
In my case it is Mr Reliability away against Mr Erratic at home. I think it is going to be an 11.15 on Saturday decision. At least there will be no problem with vc!!

Erm, so there appeared to be some 'confusion' regarding VDV's playing time last Christmas. I've trawled through Spurs' website and dug up the numbers:

    vs Villa 26/12 75 minutes

    vs Newcastle 28/12 72 minutes

    vs Fulham 1/1 83 minutes

    vs Everton 5/1 90 minutes

So he started all four but only finished the Fulham game on the field. Now we know.

It's strange how your memory can play tricks on you - I had the distinct impression he barely featured over the holiday last year but he actually played a lot. Maybe it was all the booze I drank.....

Who would you like me to start with 1966?

I remember taking VDV out for Bale last xmas, thinking that Bale is a bit of a tank and wouldn't get rested, and VDV punished me.
