A good haul of Fantasy points might put a smile on your face but doesn’t always put pounds in your pocket. That certainly rang true last weekend when it came to the “Flutter”. Bossing the left-flanks, both Leighton Baines and Garath Bale were Scout Picks that paid dividends for Fantasy managers, but failed to deliver on our chosen Flutter markets.

A brand new set of fixtures will hopefully spark a return to betting form. Spicing up the wagers this week are spot-kick specialist Yakubu, in-form poacher Emmanual Adebayor, free-kick aficionado Ryan Taylor and human battering ram Micah Richards. Read on to find out how we spend our £10 stake in this week’s Fantasy Flutter.

Tottenham are swaggering right now, there’s even a whisper of ‘title contenders’ in the air. And why not? Loanee Emmanual Adebayor has taken over the goalscoring baton while Rafael Van der Vaart nursed his hamstring, netting 4 goals in two games, leaving Spurs just a couple of neat and tidy performances away from challenging the topspot. Although Bolton will try their best to repel the vibrant Spurs attack, Adebayor to score 2 or more goals at 13/5, looks good for the first £2.50 of our money.

Last week’s flutter selection neglected the prospect of defensive returns, so this time around a clean sheet market is tempting us. Roberto Mancini will be looking to come away from the Norwich clash with a shutout, and if Micah Richards and co can keep out the likes of Anthony Pilkington and Steve Morison out, and steer clear of the ref’s notebook, Paddy will pay out at 11/10. This might seem a touch too short for some, but a £5 stake shows confidence City this weekend.

Newcastle’s Ryan Taylor has netted a couple of long-range efforts this season, and will be looking to lend his right-foot to the Magpies attack when Chelsea pay a visit. Taylor to score outside of the box has been priced at 8/1 by Paddy, and is a risk worth taking for a £1 of our money.

Blackburn haven’t featured much in the Flutter, as their worst start to a Premier League season plods on. While picking up points has been a problem, goals haven’t been proving too much of an issue of late, however, and Yakubu looks a potential bargain over a forthcoming run of favourable fixtures. Netting twice against Wigan, he is fancied to make a mark against Swansea at Ewood this weekend, with Paddy posting 5/2 for him to score and Blackburn to go on to win. We’ll take them up on that for another quid.

Our final wager is a cheeky 50 pence on a long-shot anytime double. Watchlist Wanderer Jamie O’Hara and Blackburn’s Morten Gamst Pederson were both in our thinking when it came to the Scout Picks this weekend; Paddy are offering both to net at 18/1. That may be too far fetched for most to open their wallets for, but we’re going to back our hunch with the last of our stake money.

Curse of the Old Boy!

Paddy’s money back special this weekend takes us to Villa Park and surrounds the fortunes of former home favourite, Ashley Young. If the United man comes back to haunt his former club by scoring a goal at anytime, Paddy will refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on the match.

any idea what i can do with my 2 free transfers?

    Vorn (Given)
    Kompany Enrique Jones (Simpson) (Wilkinson)
    Silva Bale Ramsey Drenthe (Dyer)
    Adebayor RVP Rooney

i know drenthe might not start but dyer can easily fill in.
should i switch out given just so that i dont waste a transfer? or any other transfer that needs doing.

Good team for this week. If I was you i'd just play the team as it is and downgrade Given to Westwood, Sorensen or Cerny so more money to play around with 2 transfers next week.

nothing worth doing this week. I'd look at taking Rooney out for Hernandez next week, keep your 2 then get Howard in for Given and upgrade Wilko to Jags/Walker/BAE

      Walker - 945 minutes, 43 points
      BAE - 1080 minutes, 40 points

From what I've seen Walker is more attacking. Wouldn't be surprised if he got a goal or an assist tomorrow.

Aye, Walker is definitely more attacking, just trying to figure out whether the extra money for him is worth it over BAE. It probably is, just about. I think Walker is a bit like Baines minus the set pieces and ridiculous price tag.

Also, being a young player that's just broken into the England setup you're more likely to make some money on him as casuals transfer him in.

There is very little in it...certainly not 0.6m.
The ICT stats prove that BAE is certainly well able to compete with Walker as an attacking threat.

You are buying into the Spurs defence so there is always a risk there...but they are obviously the same risk.

In real life football, I prefer Walker as he has a great shot on him and his crosses always seem to come from a more dangerous area...BAE tends to just float them in.

Sorry if this answer is inconclusive....I have BAE....but I would prefer Walker.....but not for 0.6 extra

      ...if that makes sense

Makes perfect sense. 0.6 doesn't seem like much, but every penny counts. I'll have a play around and see if I need to spend that extra 0.6 elsewhere before I decide.

Guys, what's the difference between "among" and "amongst"?

Which sentence is more grammatically correct?

    1) Who is to blame for the high road toll among young people?

    OR

    2) Who is to blame for the high road toll amongst young people?

2 gives you money to spend elsewhere. Vorm over Westwood for sure, Villa have a difficult run, and you should get Newcastle D cover in the event that you don't have Raylor. Also seems pointless to double up Swans with 3/4 away. Vorm will get you saves points, Newcastle has better chance to keep CS.

    FFS Bandwagons of the week

    GW14 Ade, Bale, Baines

notable omissions (close but not close enough) O'Hara, Ba, B arfa.

With so many people getting rid of VDV they have been able to afford Ade or Baines as well in the double transfer move. Will VDV come back to bite the kneejerkers or will the faith in this weeks bandwagons prove reward?

Having last week kicked out VDV for Bale I'm quiet comfortable with this. Factor in VDV's history of hamstring injuries & the Christmas/new year games in quick succession, I think Bale is more likely to get game time than VDV.

Heresy! Silva isn't allowed to succumb to any injury.

On a more serious note, Mancini does appear to rest him. Thankfully. Like the L'Oreal adds he's worth it.

Drenthe looks unlikely to play, I went for the security of O'Hara for a 4pt hit! Should be good to go though!

Yeah but if he doesn't play I have Dyer to play which should be a solid 2pointer - I don't fancy O'Hara that much considering 4-4-2 seems likely.

    Hi all,

Front line of RVP, Adebayor (he was my free transfer) & Sturridge. I really don't feel comfrortbale heading into this gameweek without a City striker. Already have Silva, no other Chelski players.

    Question is do I invite Sturridge out for either;
    a Agüero
    b Balotelli
    c no one

I don't think there is enough certantity to get any City strikers in. Stick with the Studge.

I have stuck with Ade, RVP and Sturridge.
Similarly i would have wanted a City striker, but yeap, it's a minefield of who will or won't play....
Silva should be enough he's the main scorer.

City strikers represent high risk/high reward. If you pick the 'right one' you could have a storming week.

It's got to be either Agüero or Balotelli (or both?) up front this gameweek surely?

Was looking on a Man City forum earlier, the general consensus was that Super Mario was the most nailed on for tomorrow. If you get him in, wait until the morning as he's dropping tonight.

If memory serves me. When Agüero & Balotelli play, Balotelli plays further up front, with Agüreo buzzing around behind him.

Thanks for that nugget, much appreciated.

Yeah I think you're right about their positioning. I wanted to take a one week punt on Mario but I'm .1 short after his drop tomorrow so I went for the Black Sheep instead.

City strikers really aren't a headache if you get Aguero. Get anyone else, prepare to fail. Aguero has pretty regular gametime despite all the noise about rotation and is virtually guaranteed an assist at least regardless of fixtures. This is from a regretful Dzeko and Balotelli ex-owner.

RVP much safer captain choice imo.
Aguero not a bad shout though and i guess it would a differential to all the RVP owners who captain him. Brave move though, very brave!

    Wigan x 3
    Blackburn x 1
    Bolton x2
    Norwich x 2
    Wolves x 1
    Newcastle x 1
    Aston Villa x 1

      Spurs x 2...

Thanks guys. Yeah I could sit on this team for now as most are okay, but really think I'll miss out in an explosive player this week if I do. The weak spots for me are Brown (want Baines?) Nani (so tempted by triple tot coverage with Bale) and Ramsey (Larsson is in great form). Should I absolutely avoid meddling?
