A good haul of Fantasy points might put a smile on your face but doesn’t always put pounds in your pocket. That certainly rang true last weekend when it came to the “Flutter”. Bossing the left-flanks, both Leighton Baines and Garath Bale were Scout Picks that paid dividends for Fantasy managers, but failed to deliver on our chosen Flutter markets.

A brand new set of fixtures will hopefully spark a return to betting form. Spicing up the wagers this week are spot-kick specialist Yakubu, in-form poacher Emmanual Adebayor, free-kick aficionado Ryan Taylor and human battering ram Micah Richards. Read on to find out how we spend our £10 stake in this week’s Fantasy Flutter.

Tottenham are swaggering right now, there’s even a whisper of ‘title contenders’ in the air. And why not? Loanee Emmanual Adebayor has taken over the goalscoring baton while Rafael Van der Vaart nursed his hamstring, netting 4 goals in two games, leaving Spurs just a couple of neat and tidy performances away from challenging the topspot. Although Bolton will try their best to repel the vibrant Spurs attack, Adebayor to score 2 or more goals at 13/5, looks good for the first £2.50 of our money.

Last week’s flutter selection neglected the prospect of defensive returns, so this time around a clean sheet market is tempting us. Roberto Mancini will be looking to come away from the Norwich clash with a shutout, and if Micah Richards and co can keep out the likes of Anthony Pilkington and Steve Morison out, and steer clear of the ref’s notebook, Paddy will pay out at 11/10. This might seem a touch too short for some, but a £5 stake shows confidence City this weekend.

Newcastle’s Ryan Taylor has netted a couple of long-range efforts this season, and will be looking to lend his right-foot to the Magpies attack when Chelsea pay a visit. Taylor to score outside of the box has been priced at 8/1 by Paddy, and is a risk worth taking for a £1 of our money.

Blackburn haven’t featured much in the Flutter, as their worst start to a Premier League season plods on. While picking up points has been a problem, goals haven’t been proving too much of an issue of late, however, and Yakubu looks a potential bargain over a forthcoming run of favourable fixtures. Netting twice against Wigan, he is fancied to make a mark against Swansea at Ewood this weekend, with Paddy posting 5/2 for him to score and Blackburn to go on to win. We’ll take them up on that for another quid.

Our final wager is a cheeky 50 pence on a long-shot anytime double. Watchlist Wanderer Jamie O’Hara and Blackburn’s Morten Gamst Pederson were both in our thinking when it came to the Scout Picks this weekend; Paddy are offering both to net at 18/1. That may be too far fetched for most to open their wallets for, but we’re going to back our hunch with the last of our stake money.

Curse of the Old Boy!

Paddy’s money back special this weekend takes us to Villa Park and surrounds the fortunes of former home favourite, Ashley Young. If the United man comes back to haunt his former club by scoring a goal at anytime, Paddy will refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on the match.

Howard and Vorm rotate up until the second wildcard and Hernandez is better value at the moment.

Hmm, i think we may see Fergie step down at the end of the year. either for health reasons or pushed from behind closed doors.

I don't think any result is certain at the moment where United are concerned.

I don't think he's losing it as such... United have always lost 4, 5, 6 games a season but the quality of the other contenders are so much higher this year. In the past United had the, or one of the, best midfields in the league.. they could dominate teams for the last 10-15 minutes of games and find a winner.

I don't see United dominating sides in that way this year plus defensive facilities means a few unexpected away results imo. Dropping Rooney back is a Fergie recognising that weakness and trying to boss the middle of the park. Unfortunately that's robbing the team of some flair and cutting edge in the final third. January's transfer window will be crucial, i feel.

I think a much tighter call than many people think. RVP will deliver if enough of his team mates produce. They didn't against an average Fulham side, fatigue is no excuse, Fulham have also had a busy season. Man City will produce at home that is certain.

It has to be Van Persie captain, Wigan are sh!t and he has scored 5 in his last 2 away matches. Aguero will be taken off after 60 minutes if the game is safe with Bayern match coming up, Arsenal already top group so RVP won't be playing midweek.

I would swap Rooney for (in order of preference):
        1. RVP
        2. Adebayor
        3. Aguero

      2) so you can catch aguero goal haul this GW. more people will be fed up of roon and sell. then you can rebuy him cheaper when he improves.

Alright lads, which one to play out of the following:

    Turner, Naylor, Moses, Eagles.

Also bench order with the three who don't play?

Chaps, asked this earlier in the week but fancied canvassing further opinion. Who to bench?

    a) Ramsey (Wigan away)
    b) Sinclair (Blackburn away)

Rambo imo. I can see Arsenal getting 3+ at Wigan, can't say the same for Sinclair, and Graham being out for the Swans might hurt their potential for goals.

I'd be wary about getting Drenthe in until we see him fully fit, playing and producing again. I have both and am keeping this week but if you have to ship one I'd do Bendy to Ba/Morison or Nani to Ben Arfa (or Bale if you haven't got him already).

Agreed. People are talking about swapping a regular player from the 2nd team in the league (Nani) for an Everton player that may or may not be injured.

6.0 for a midfielder to replace drenthe. Best option O'hara? I was thinking formica with blackburns next 4 weeks. Advice would be greatly appreciated

Because he wants reassurance from others that all his careful planning and calculation is going to lead to a goos score. If it fails he can then feel safe in the knowledge that he was just unlucky and fielded a side that should've scored well.

I've money to burn and a transfer in hand. I'm thinking of:

    Baines
    Vidic
    Johnson
    Walcott
    Mata

    Current team is:

    Ruddy Vorm
Simpson, Barnett, Kompany, Assou Ekotto, Enrique
    Dyer, Pilkington, Bale, Silva, Ferguson
    Aguero, RVP, Ade

    Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

yeah i don't subscribe to this full bench business, for 35 weeks of the year he'll never play, i'll take the hit for the few it snows/freezes etc. Much rather spend cash on the guys who i'll play week in week out

    Sturridge > Adebayor

Heidar Helguson has scored in each of the club's last three Premier League home matches - if he scores against West Brom he can equal Les Ferdinand's club record of netting in four home matches in a row from October to December 1994 😮 😮 😮

    RMT my team guys

    Vorm (Krul)

Richards / Enrique / BAE (Simpson / Rangel)

Silva / Bale / Walters / Larrson (Drenthe)

    Ba / RVP(C) / Adebawhore

Already done a 4 point hit on Sunday but considering whether to bring in Baines instead of Rangel for a further 4 point hit and then not play Walters this week. Thoughts?
