The Yak gets well and truly fed at Ewood Park, with a four goal binge against travel-sick Swansea. Gareth Bale produces yet again, while Thomas Vermaelen’s eye for goal continues to reap reward.

Yakubu
A one man demolition job in the win over Swansea saw the Yak take his season’s tally to 9 with all 4 of Blackburn’s goals at Ewood Park. Selected as our cheap striker option in the Scout Picks, Yakubu continued the form that saw him highlighted in our Budget Forwards article for members article at the beginning of November. Steve Kean’s side may be struggling for points but the Nigerian is having no issues in finding the net and with home clashes against West Brom and Bolton in the next three gameweeks, the prospect for more returns looks promising.

Juan Mata
The Spaniard produced yet another assist in yesterday’s win at Newcastle. It’s fair to say that Mata has adapted quicker to the Premier League than David Silva in his first season- Silva returned 4 goals and 9 assists in his debut campaign last time round, while Mata has already bagged 3 goals and 7 assists in his twelve appearances for Chelsea to date.

Micah Richards
The right-back vindicated his Scout Pick selection with yet another assist in City’s home romp over Norwich. City, once again, failed to record a clean sheet- that’s seven games in a row now they have conceded but Richards has now produced 6 assists this term- only David Silva and Juan Mata have managed more.

Steve Morison
His Etihad goal proved nothing more than a mere consolation for the Canaries but it underlined Morison’s recent consistency. Norwich may have won just once in their last five games but Morison has found the net in four of those fixtures, netting against the likes of Arsenal as well as Man City, and continues to look a bargain buy at just 5.0.

Heidar Helguson
Yet another cut-price option producing the goods right now, Helguson’s opener in QPR’s home draw with West Brom was his sixth goal in the last seven games. Installed up front against Blackburn back in gameweek eight, he continues to prove a crucial figure for Neil Warnock’s side- having scored against both Man City and Chelsea in that run, his chances of netting in the next two games (liv, MUN) are perhaps not as slim as previously imagined.

Joey Barton
Having missed last week’s trip to Norwich through suspension, his return to the QPR first-team saw Barton continue an impressive run of form. His assist in the 1-1 Loftus Road stalemate was Barton’s third in successive matches, with his creativity becoming increasingly potent as the gameweeks go by.

Gareth Bale
With Rafael Van der Vaart earning no more than a late sub appearance and Emmanuel Adebayor failing to fire, Bale continued his sensational attacking form. The Welshman grabbed a goal and assist and was also boosted by Spurs’ clean sheet- his last five games have produced 4 goals and 5 assists. Given his first eight games returned a single goal, the turnaround in Bale’s season has been extraordinary as Harry Redknapp’s side continue to rack up the wins.

Thomas Vermaelen
The Belgian is quickly becoming the scourge of Fantasy managers who’ve chosen to captain Robin Van Persie over the last few gameweeks. Vermaelen’s return to the Arsenal first-team continues to catch the eye- a goal, assist and clean sheet at Wigan yesterday gives him a strong chance of stealing the maximum bonus from under Van Persie’s nose. Vermaelen has returned 3 bonus points in two of the previous three games and has now scored 3 goals in his last four fixtures.

Robin Van Persie
Last week’s blank against Fulham proved nothing more to be a temporary blip as the Gunners skipper returned to form against Wigan. Another goal, supplemented by a couple of assists, means he’s scored 14 goals and produced 5 assists already this term- almost on a par of his 18 and 7 he picked up last season respectively. Granted, the first half of the previous campaign was blighted by injury but if the Dutchman can stay fit, breaching the 30 goal mark seems a realistic tally.

Phil Jones
The former Blackburn man may have missed last week’s game with Newcastle but returned for the trip to Villa Park, with Sir Alex Ferguson handing him a central midfield role in yesterday evening’s clash. Jones grabbed the game’s only goal and a clean sheet- he looks a strong contender for the maximum bonus, too. His versatility was demonstrated halfway through the second half, as Fergie’s decision to bring Ryan Giggs on allowed Jones to slip back to centre half, with Rio Ferdinand making way. While the forwards struggle to find the net, United’s defence have produced 4 clean sheets in five games and the next five games looks likely to offer further chance of returns from the back.

So with S Taylor out, does this really wreck Newcastle's overall defence?

I own Krul and Simpson and whilst I'll probably stick with them both until Winter WC time, it may sway me in selecting them for some games I normally would.

This is a good counter argument. It does strike me as chasing points and focusing on the week just gone rather than the one ahead with McAuley and Brown's fixtures, respectively.

May just do Aguero to Welbeck with my free.

Classic H2H dilemma: Considering it’s a must win game for me, which one would win?

Common players: Vorm; Enrique; Silva, VDV; Studge, RVP.

Me: Brown, Simpson; Sinclair, Bale, Helguson
My Rival: Naylor/Kompany, Jones; Brunt, Mata, Adebayor

I’m guessing my rival would do Mata/VDV > Bale with his FT this GW. I have 5mil in my bank.

Considering this, do you think I should just get Jones in? Or should I try to differentiate and get the Verminator/Suarez in?

Do the helgicopter -> ba, It's gonna be tough, even though it looks like you'll lose, if you delve a little into the fixtures, one sees its an even contest 55:45 in his favor i'm afraid, get in ba, he could easily win it for you.

Thanks Udit. I'll take a peek at how the Pool defence looks tomorrow with the exodus of Lucas. I fancy Helgicopter to score every game he starts.

That's why I'm looking at getting one of the big defenders in. Anyways, my defence needs some improvement in the long-run.

Ok, good point, without lucas Lpool may be shaky....... then shawx->Jones is great for long term, but it may not solve the H2H problem, but on the other hand, if Jones gets 6 points which he most probably will it puts you in a deeper quandary, maybe do both?

Maybe, but personally I don't think so, they can't keep up their clean sheets forever unfortunately, their defense barring verminator is nothing to write home about, he does get goals but mainly from set pieces, an excellent choice long term but for the 1 week i'd prefer jones, of course you could always get them both in.

Good post. I'm struggling what to do with Aguero. Is he worth the cash? I don't think he is when you can get a Ba figure for half the price and then upgrade other areas of your team. Have a look at City's next home fixtures - not great. While they are fixture proof it could be argued, I don't feel a City striker is worth it in the medium term with Aguero coming off at 60 too.

    Considering an 8 pointer:

    Vorm Given
    Kompany Enrique Brown Simpson Wilko
    Silva Bale Walters Brunt Dyer
    RVP Aguero Ade

Thinking Aguero, Walters and Wilko – Yak, Nani and Jones for 8 points.

Would prefer Ba to Yak but can’t afford it. Also Yak would be a nice differential to Ba. How does this sound?

Personally I wouldn't read too much into it as Welbeck is coming off a muscle injury and they didn't want to throw him out there without a proper warm-up. I think it speaks more to how decimated they are at striker. Also, doesn't appear that Nani did much with the opportunity. Welbeck is assured IMO.

ahh he did get an assist, good call, SAF could easily swap Welbeck and Nani, he was throwing him in at wing on the left side while Young was hurt before he got hurt himself a few eeks ago.

If my BPs go according to plan, I'll get 15, making it 79 (80 with Dyer) + Walters and Ward.

But I imagine at least 1 of RVP, Sturridge, Bale, Jones will fail to get maximum BPs.

The target is anything over 80 all-in though now.

I always think if you can get 60+ every week you'll do well, but this week is a bit higher I think.

    Vorm, Krul
Kompany, Enrique, Jones, Simpson, De Laet
    Silva, Bale, Mata, Ramsey, Dyer
    RVP Ba Suarez

Thinking Ba to Yakubu and Jones to Verm for an 8 point hit.

Worth it? I'm thinking Jones will be too much of a rotation risk over Christmas...

Both those moves are terrible, sorry but they are.

Why would you ship Ba and Jones out?

I'd look to get rid of De Laet if you can. Or maybe Kompany > Vermaelen

Ba can go to Sturridge in a few GWs.

I have 0.7 in the bank and need to make two transfers to get Jones out for Verm. I just think Kompany is guaranteed his place where as Jones is subject to rotation.

Is it worth getting rid of de laet for a 4 point hit?

How can you have such a good team, when those are your transfer thoughts? Do you take 20 point hits every week?

Is Ivanovic & VDV --> Bale and Baines a bit of a waste of 2 transfers or will it pay off?

"But Nani did alright through the middle and Valencia did very well for us when he came on, he was excellent. So I have some options up front. We may have Berbatov fit for Wednesday also"

The bit about Valencia being "excellent" worries me about getting Nani.

better to get only jones and worry about a 6 million odd player not startin(defenders rarely come on for 1 pointers) rather than a 10 million midfielder(1 pointers :()

Out of the three 3 of Young, Nani and Valencia. I would put Nani first in the pecking order. He can also play behind the forward or on the left unlike Young and Valencia who seem restricted to their wings.

Nani is the only player I've kept all season.

Is anyone else thinking of getting Rooney in this week? Aguero to Rooney for gw15 was my original plan but looking at his current form is it better to look for a cheaper option (Ba, Sturridge) and invest in defence instead?

that is probably a good call. Thankfully, I am .1 mil shy of being able to do it so happy to stay with Aguero. BTW how do I upload a pic here. Couldnt find anything in the "my profile" sections.

Actually, if your going to risk Rooney I would suggest bringing in Welbeck - he will surely play 90 mins a game until Chicco is back...

    right then.

    here is my team

    Vorm (Krul)

    Richards, Jones, Brown, Shawcross, (Simpson)

    Sinclair, Silva, VDV, Arteta, (Moses)

    RVP, Dzeko, Hoilett

dont get me started on why i put Hoilett.

i have one free transfer, would it be crazy to use my wildcard?
