[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

Having savoured the splendours of Spurs’ win over Bolton at first-hand yesterday, the suspension update comes with something of a personal touch this evening.

We’ll start then at my game and with the disciplinary talking point of Saturday’s match ups – Gary Cahill’s red card. The Bolton defender was given his marching orders by referee Stuart Atwell for a foul on Scott Parker after 17 mins that was deemed to be ‘denying a goal-scoring opportunity’. A 1 match ban will result, meaning Bolton will be without both Cahill and last week’s headliner, David Wheater, for the GW15 game hosting Aston Villa.

Most onlookers were in agreement that the decision was extremely harsh (or an ‘absolute disgrace’ as Bolton Chairman Phil Gartside put it), and when viewed in the context of a yellow card for Chelsea’s David Luiz four minutes into the Saturday lunchtime game for a much more clear cut ‘professional foul’, they may have a point.

In the other games, we saw another red card, this time for Swansea’s Joe Allen who picked up a first yellow for throwing the ball away and followed it with a second late on at Ewood park for a push on Junior Hoilett, to earn himself an early bath and a ban for GW15 (FUL).

Joining him as new entries to the ban list are the aforementioned David Luiz – that yellow card his fifth of the season, meaning he will miss next week’s Monday Night Football against the league leaders (mci) – and perennial offender, Lee Cattermole. The Sunderland midfielder also picked up his fifth booking in this afternoon’s live game, with his ban to be served against Blackburn.

As well as the suspensions, there were also a couple of additional inductees to the Suspension Tightrope this week. Arsenal’s Alex Song and Bolton right back Paul Robinson both picked up their fourth yellow cards of the season to join the merry balancing band one yellow card from a ban.

Gameweek 15 Bans

  • Stephen N’Zonzi (Blackburn) – FA Charge (Last of 3 matches)
  • Gary Cahill (Bolton) – 1 Red for a professional foul (1 match)
  • David Wheater (Bolton) – 1 Red for serious foul play (Second of 4 matches)
  • David Luiz (Chelsea) – 5 Yellows (1 match)
  • Lee Cattermole (Sunderland) – 5 Yellows (1 match)
  • Joe Allen (Swansea) – 1 Red for 2 bookings (1 match)

Suspension Tightrope – Four bookings

  • Alex Song (Arsenal)
  • Gabby Agbonlahor (Aston Villa)
  • Stiliyan Petrov (Aston Villa)
  • Paul Robinson (Bolton)
  • Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
  • Brede Hangeland (Fulham)
  • Steve Sidwell (Fulham)
  • Yohan Cabaye (Newcastle)
  • Ryan Shawcross (Stoke)
  • Glenn Whelan (Stoke)

Well next week with RVP against City and nobody exploding from Utd team for now, he could be a massive captain choice against Sun. I will keep him.

Ah ok, well I'd say you need to upgrade Yak or Ba to a 9-10m forward and downgrade a def.

You could also do with Chelsea and United attack.

Only Ba to Suarez and decide after tomorrows game. Yak could be rotated with Long/Helguson. And Ba with studge/welbeck. So I think I'm OK upfront unless suarez will go rampage.
Just maybe could improve midfield, get some money from Friedel?

    my squad is:

    Vorm(Swansea) - Ruddy(Norwich)

    King(Spurs) - Taylor(Swansea) - Enrique(Pool) - Jones(United) - Simpson(Newcastle)

    Walcott(Arsenal) - Silva(City) - Van der Vart(Spurs) - Walters(Stoke) - Bale(Spurs)

    Sturridge(Chelsea) - Van Persie(Arsenal) - Ba(Newcastle)

    Was thinking of going with:

    Vorm

    Jones - Taylor - Enrique

Classic H2H dilemma: Considering it’s a must win game for me, which one would win?

Common players: Vorm; Enrique; Silva, VDV; Studge, RVP.

Me: Brown, Simpson; Sinclair, Bale, Helguson
My Rival: Naylor/Kompany, Jones; Brunt, Mata, Adebayor

I’m guessing my rival would do Mata/VDV > Bale with his FT this GW. I have 5mil in my bank.

Considering this, do you think I should just get Jones in? Or should I try to differentiate and get the Verminator/Suarez/Ba/Vidic in?

Releases cash and a poor set of fixtures. At the moment he's a luxury and not a necessity.

I would love to keep him, but the same was said for Sturridge and I had to be ruthless.

Considering the same too, but beside the Stoke game at home, seems like he won't do much harm. He won't be captain choice too. Other teams have better fixtures. And his ppf at home is more that 10 and away is more than 5. Beside Stoke there is Ars and home and 3 away games. And when the others have double in GW 20 he has Liv. Also not having 90min all time makes me nervous. Imagin City out of the CL that means even more rotation.

    1. Keep vdv and swap Ramsey out for similar mid.
    2. Straight swap Vdv to Bale
    3. Go crazy & swap Ageuro for Ba/Yak and use cash to upgrade Ramsey to Bale for 4 point hit or also swap Brown for P Jones for 8 point hit?

I did 2 before, its always a worry but I think Bale has done enough to merit himself as a pick and I think VdV will be subject to rotation over the weeks to come

Insane amount of fog. Can only see what's happening when the ball is by the near touchline.

Haven't got the foggiest what's going on. Insane viewing, great chance (apparently), commentator getting all excited, I saw nothing. Literally nothing.

Thinking of brining Bale in but that would mean me having VDV, Bale and Ade is that too many from Spurs?

I've got them three. Spurs are on form and chances are, if a goal is scored, one of those three have a hand in it

nope, not many alternatives in MF in particular, they have loads of goals in them, no rotation risk if fit and good fixtures

I nearly did that this week but brought OH in for Lamps. Not having VDV makes me nervous but Bale is playing magnificent footie this season.

Bale and Ade is enough imo. Just noticed that Nani is joint top of mid's last 4 gwk data for goal attempts.

Guys appreciate some advice on my team:

    Vorm Howard
    Turner Wilkinson Jones Simpson Walker
    Ramsey Allen Silva Bale Drenthe
    Adebayor RvP Bendtner

    4.6M in the bank?

    Should I do:

    1) Drenthe and Bendtner to Mata and Ba. It leaves me with 0.4M in the bank..

    or

    2) Turner and Allen to Vermaelen and Mid under 6.3M (leaves me enough to do Bendtner to Ba the week after)

I'd be tempted to do 1 but gor for Nani instead of Mata

Unlucky for Man City that Luiz is suspended for the game against them.

Is that the David Luiz who's only conceded 4 goals in 5 league games this season?

It was only a joke 😉 I actually really like Luiz, unfortunately like a lot of young defenders he has a habit of throwing in one absolute clanger in a game. Chelsea would be smart to stick by him in the long run.
