Rafael Van der Vaart declares himself 100% fit for Spurs’ game at Stoke this weekend. Injury rules Dimitar Berbatov out of Man United’s Champions League trip to Basel, while Luis Suarez is the subject of another FA investigation:

Rafael Van der Vaart gave his Fantasy managers a boost today, with a positive update on his ongoing hamstring strain. The Dutchman started on the bench for only the second time in his Spurs career at the weekend, but admits that while he fully understood his manager’s decision, he is determined to win back his starting place for Sunday’s trip to Stoke. With Gareth Bale in such stunning form and Jermain Defoe offering a viable alternative for Redknapp up front, plenty are selling on Van der Vaart, though this news may throw potential Fantasy transfer plans up in the air a little:

I fully understand I had to start on the bench. I could only train once with the group. Then there are some more players the manager can pick, so of course I had to start off the bench. With regards to my injury I can say it feels pretty well, up to 100% fit. I just have to keep up the hard work this week and hope I start next game.

Dimitar Berbatov has failed to recover from an ankle injury in time for Man United’s Champions League trip to Basel. There’s no let-up in problems up front for United right now and with Javier Hernandez also injured ahead of the weekend league clash with Wolves, Sir Alex Ferguson has something of a dilemma. Having just returned from a muscle injury, Danny Welbeck is not fully fit, though Fergie used Nani as a makeshift centre forward against Aston Villa last weekend- an option he could possibly revisit at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Aleksandar Kolarov has been ruled out for four weeks after picking up a groin problem. The left-back picked up the injury in last week’s Carling Cup win over Arsenal and was subbed off just half an hour into the Emirates clash, meaning Gael Clichy is likely to be nailed-on for the next few Gameweeks, though Joleon Lescott could potentially offer cover if Roberto Mancini remains keen to rotate with regularity over a bust festive period.

Mancini admitted this morning he is keen for the club to offload Carlos Tevez amid suggestions the player is in talks with AC Milan regarding a proposed move to Serie A. With Milan’s vice-president Adriano Galliani stating he is already negotiating with Tevez’s advisors, Mancini went on to say:

I don’t know what the situation is with Carlos at this moment. I think that for us it is important to sell him. We can do this for him and for the club. If he has the chance to go to Italy, I am happy for him.

Harry Redknapp reckons he may get more from his Tottenham team if Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon switch wing roles. The Spurs boss feels his decision to move Bale right and Lennon left was key to his team’s performance against Bolton last weekend, saying:

The turning point at West Brom last week, I felt, was when I changed the two wingers over about eight minutes into the second half and we started opening them up. So it’s something that’s interesting with those two. Aaron’s been in good form lately. (But) I think he’s better on the left than on the right, in all honesty. I think he gets more opportunities to score goals when he plays on the left. On the other side he tends to go one way.

The FA are to investigate Luis Suarez after the Liverpool forward appeared to gesture towards Fulham fans in last night’s defeat at Craven Cottage. This only adds to the Uruguayan’s woes, with his alleged racism charge against Patrice Evra also still hanging over him. With Liverpool facing a kind run of upcoming fixtures, it perhaps places doubts against Suarez as a Fantasy option over the next few weeks, though his form on the pitch has been admittedly below-par this season.

I'd get rid on two counts. 1 watching him play is possibly the most frustrating feeling as he misses chance after chance. 2 he now has another possibly suspension hanging over his head.

Ba pretty solid and when he leaves for the African Cup you'll happily have a WC to sort out your woes.

Every second post for the next 5 days will ask about VDV me thinks, should I get rid, should I give him one more week etc...for what its worth my 2 cents would be hold for sure if you have him, he will be champing at the bit to get back in on the action this week and 'arry as much as he loves Defoe knows he has a diamond in VDV which Defoe isnt and will never be. he will keep Rafa happy and if Rafa trains this week if will be seriously p*ssed if he has to watch from the dubout from the get go.

Stoke aside from last weekend have been very leaky of late and a Spurs team on the crest of a wave will serioulsy test them again. They are a genuine top 4 contender now and VDV will be a major player in that. Pens, freekicks and open play, he can do it all and is always a 20 point explosion possibility.

Hold for this week if you still have him IMO and if he looks flat or 'arry actually has the balls to tell him hes not playing after training properly for the week then get rid!

p.s. he deserves all our respect for having such a a cracker of a missus 🙂

I've finally decided to dump before reading this.

Not convinced on this weekend against Stoke, even had him on bench in my initial thinking.

Nani in for VDV, can go back down the line if it doesn't work out, as he's going down 0.1 today anyway (I bought at 10.5).

Keep the faith BKR, I am 102 behind (our leader is in top 800 at present) and i'm pretty confident of reeling him in, such a long way to go and plenty of time to make i up. Main thing is dont go taking crazy gambles IMO, just keep picking what you tjhink is the best team regardless of theirs and try to reel them in that way 🙂

Current team and intended starters for the upcoming gameweek:

    Vorm - (Ruddy)
    P. Jones - R. Taylor - McAuley - (Simpson) - (Orr)
Bale - Van der Vaart - Silva - Brunt - (Dyer)
Adebayor - van Persie - Aguero

I have one free transfer and I feel that I need to get some more Man U players in due to their tasty upcoming fixtures.

    I'm mainly considering:

    A. Van der Vaart -> Nani

    OR

    B. Brunt & Aguero -> Nani & Ba (for a 4 point hit, would be able to keep Van der Vaart)

What would you do? Any other suggestions?

Shorey is pretty decent at 4.5. Gets forward and the occasional assist, and with Hodgson at the rear West Brom has suddenly started getting some clean sheets as well.

The biggest difference between Facebook and Twitter is. With Facebook you "follow" (friends) people that for the most part you don't really want to but there's always that possibility they'll find out you've de-friended them and mention it next time you see them.

Whereas with Twitter you can follow people with similar interests. It's great for football news too!

      You tweet and retweet!

Tweeting is just like posting a status apart from no-one really minds as much when you tweet several times in the space of minutes. Whereas on Facebook it's a faux pas to update your status too often. And retweeting is basically tweeting someone elses tweet within your timeline. A bit like, liking a status.

There are still some people who use Twitter just like Facebook, except now they can let the whole world know that they've been waiting for the bus for 40 minutes or that the new Twilight movie is the best thing they've ever seen.

I don't tweet alot myself, but find it a great source to get the latest news through other sources like football journalists or the players themselves. Or if I'm desperate to know what movie Hugh Hefner will be watching this evening I can have a look. Last time I checked he and the girls were catching up on Dexter ...

    Swansea V Fulham

Vorm or Form? Got Vorm atm, but has his confidence been dented in the Yak-attack? 😕

I wouldn't be overly worried by a confidence dip. I'll be playing Vorm against Fulham, they looked a bit toothless last night so it's a decent chance of a cs.

Would you play him if you had Schwarzer as well? Swans attack is pretty toothless

Fair point. Personally I'd always favour the homeside in close calls like this, but it could really go either way.

    Walker Jones Santos and Enrique.

Thinking of just playing 4-3-3 this week and benching Drenthe. I'm sure I should have got rid weeks ago but I haven't so might as well see whats happening after the Arsenal game, my defence have nice fixtures for this week even if I do hate not playing 3-4-3!

Any thoughts on transferring VDV for Larsson or Walters so I can bring in RVP for the injured Hernandez?
I have a feeling VDV will do well over xmas but feel I'm suffering without RVP, especially as captain.

Here is my lineup- I like to play 4-3-3 at the moment and had been playing 3-4-3 before Walker was introduced...Thanks

    Krul (Vorm)

    Kompany, Jones, Enrique, Walker, (Figueroa)

    Silva, VDV, Nani, Dyer, (Moses)

Ba, Agbonlahor, Hernandez (injured, has to come out)

A guy goes to the supermarket and notices an attractive woman waving at him. She says hello. He's rather taken aback because he can't place where he knows her from. So he says, 'Do you know me?' To which she replies, 'I think you're the father of one of my kids.' Now his mind travels back to the only time he has ever been unfaithful to his wife and says, 'Are you the stripper from the bachelor party that I made love to on the pool table with all my buddies watching while your partner whipped my butt with wet celery???' She looks into his eyes and says calmly, 'No, I'm your son's teacher.'

How does this look for the weekend. Have 1 FT and am unsure of weather to take out VDV for Bale, or replace Aguero with someone else:

    Vorm
    Enrique Jones Kompany
    Silva VDV Walters Dyer
    RVP Adebayor Aguero

    Krul Simpson Wilkinson Ferguson
