[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

We had to wait until the final game of the day to find the disciplinary angle on Sunday’s proceedings, but sure as night follows day, it duly arrived in the shape of a fifth booking of the season for Arsenal’s Alex Song. His early yellow means that he’ll now be absent from the matchday squad for the visit to Aston Villa in midweek.

Replacing him on the suspension tightrope is teammate Mikel Arteta. Already a recipient of a league cup yellow in the early rounds for Everton, his booking today for a foul on Yaya Touré means he has now accrued a further three in the league for new club Arsenal, and takes up the spot on the tightrope vacated by Song.

There’s been some confusion about this as a result of talk of an earlier booking at Blackburn whilst with Everton. We’ve had it confirmed by Opta that this booking was never actually awarded (despite what other sources show); as a result, Arteta has now moved on to four yellow cards – one short of a ban. We will of course clarify this with the FA and confirm tomorrow.

With the other disciplinary matters of the gameweek rounded up in yesterday’s article, there’s just time for a final line to summarise the Luis Suarez situation: with the hearing into his alleged racism underway and a decision delayed until Tuesday at the earliest, there’s still some uncertainty as to whether we’ll know more before the gameweek 17 deadline of 19:30 GMT the same day. It’s entirely possible that if a decision is delayed again until Wednesday, and if a ban is handed out that afternoon, that he would be ineligible for Liverpool’s trip to Wigan in the evening. We’ll of course keep you posted as soon as we hear anything.

GAMEWEEK 17 BANS

  • Alex Song (Arsenal) – 5 Yellows (1 match)
  • David Wheater (Bolton) – 1 Red for serious foul play (Last of 4 matches)
  • Jay Spearing (Liverpool) – 1 Red for serious foul play (Last of 3 matches)
  • Yohan Cabaye (Newcastle) – 5 Yellows (1 match)
  • Dan Gosling (Newcastle) – 1 Red for serious foul play (Second of 3 matches)
  • Ryan Shawcross (Stoke) – 5 Yellows (1 match)

SUSPENSION TIGHTROPE – FOUR BOOKINGS

  • Mikel Arteta (Arsenal)
  • Stiliyan Petrov (Aston Villa)
  • Míchel Salgado (Blackburn)
  • Nigel Reo-Coker (Bolton)
  • Paul Robinson (Bolton)

  • Raul Meireles (Chelsea)
  • Ramires (Chelsea)
  • Moussa Dembélé (Fulham)
  • Brede Hangeland (Fulham)
  • Danny Murphy (Fulham)
  • Steve Sidwell (Fulham)
  • Kyle Naughton (Norwich)
  • Glenn Whelan (Stoke)
  • Scott Parker (Tottenham)
  • Steven Reid (West Brom)

So will Aguero keep the assist?

There is a precedence here, look back to RVP/Gervinhogate. The assist was originally given to RVP, it was reviewed and there was no compelling evidence to to prove one way or the other. So they did the logical thing and took it away from RVP... 🙄

    Play Smalling or Ramsey?
Aston Villa are crap, Ramsey will score eventually (but probably won't) or Smalling could be a threat from Rafael of getting a rest and I have Jones anyway?

Bale and leading goalscorer Defoe miss Sunday’s win also, but Redknapp is hoping their can recover in time to face London rivals Chelsea.

“We lost Gareth Bale yesterday evening in training, he’s got a bit of a sprain in his ankle, then we lost Aaron Lennon so we lost a lot of pace out of our team and that was a problem,” the boss said.

“Gareth’s not too bad; he’s just got a sprain of the ankle so we just have to see how he is really.

“Jermain doesn’t feel too bad. He’s got a minor hamstring tear, he’s a quick healer, he could be back in a couple of days.

I was planning to save my transfer this week and do Bale- any 5.3 or less mid (can rotate with Tiote until wc) and Yak- Hernandez ready for Wigan and Blackburn at home (and it gives me this GW to asses Hernandez) Thoughts? I know taking Bale out may seem odd, but my main rival has 5 players the same as me, so I need to find the differential

that's why I'm waiting 1 week, and it gives me the 2 frees, only question is what MF to get, am leaning towards Jacky R if he's fit, right in time for DGW. Otherwise reckon it's Gower, not many great options in that price range, but Allen did me a decent job in there before.

I don't have Bale myself, but I thought this would be helpful.

Gareth Bale was missing after picking up an ankle sprain on Friday, Jermain Defoe was also out with a hamstring problem and we then lost the threat of Aaron Lennon after just 26 minutes when the winger limped off with a hamstring injury.

I need some help guys. I am happy with my midfield and front. However my back is very thin, S Kelly just got favoured out at fulham, Boyata sucks and obviously with me having ferguson is too much a risk.

Im looking to sell richards and with the 6.4 get Kyle Walker or BAE that wil leave me with 0.6 or 1.2 million to sharpen up my defensive crisis.

    Any help would be appreciated…

    Im looking at currently:

    so two options

    Richards>>>Walker
    Kelly>>>>>>>Evans

    +0.1 Spare

    or

    Richards>>>BAE
    Kelly>>>evans

    +0.7 Spare

    Here is my current lineup

    ———————-Sorenson————
    —–Richards——-Naylor———Enrique——-
    —–Nani———-Larsson——–Silva—–Bale——
    ——–Sturridge—–rooney——-RVP

    ——Ruddy——-Boyata——Kelly——Ferguson

    Cheers

What are your thoughts on this.

My keeper and defence is -

    Sczcesny

    Richards Walker Jones Enrique Simpson

I was gonna strip my defence to Shotton, Evans, Caulker and cheapies like that so I could bring in Mata & Bale/VDV to add to Nani & Silva.

But after a clean sweep of clean sheets minus Sczcesny i'm thinking I should leave it as it is. Especially since the all star midfield looks great but is a hit or miss for them all to have good weeks.

Plus there are nice fixtures for my defence coming up.

Thoughts much appreciated on this one.

    Vorm
    Brown Simpson Jones Enrique
    Drenthe Silva(v) Nani
    RVP(C) Adebayor Ba

    Given Walters BAE Dyer

2.9M in bank and 1FT. options are:

    1 - Save it
2 - Shaft Dyer for a cheap playing mid
    3 - Shaft Given (for Sorensen/Ruddy)
4 - Brown to Evans (play Evans in a 4-3-3 as above)

I would leave it until you have 2FT and bring in Evans and Sorensen. Altough Dyer isn't playing full matches just now he does get points, he is cheao and not a bad sub for back up if you need him. Maybe Joe Allen instead the following week.

I'm sure the English version of the fpl game must be more difficult than any other European league. The habit of squad rotation is a nightmare.

I dont watch much Spanish football, for instance, but the main players like Messi et al very rarely seem to be left out and i suspect the same could be said of German clubs.

I also think there is a responsibilty of clubs to play their best players, football matches aint cheap. Yet we are talking of players like RVP, Nani, Aguero, Silva etc being rested. I undersand the reasoning, it just seems strange.

Of course, someone may prove that the exact same thing happens on the continent.

Do you think that Bale & Ade out for Rooney and Drenthe in sounds good for the next two weeks?

Im thinking Bale might be out again later in the week and Ade is hit and miss.

Rooney looks like he is gonna go on another six or so game run of banging them in and fixtures look good and I doubt he will be rested.

Drenthe is the best player offensively in Everton by far and future double games.

Although the impending double games for Spurs means ill have to bring them back in 4 games.

Really can see Rooney havin a good Xmas period.

The problem with Ade is that he is from Togo where nothing much is expected of you. So he swans about and if he scores he scores and if not don't worry about it, Hit or Miss for sure.

Depends on whether you can afford to get them back for the DGW.

Yep .9 in the bank, as long as Bale and Ade don't go up by much. Have two transfers this week as well so no points hit

        serious option me thinks
