[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

We had to wait until the final game of the day to find the disciplinary angle on Sundayโ€™s proceedings, but sure as night follows day, it duly arrived in the shape of a fifth booking of the season for Arsenalโ€™s Alex Song. His early yellow means that heโ€™ll now be absent from the matchday squad for the visit to Aston Villa in midweek.

Replacing him on the suspension tightrope is teammate Mikel Arteta. Already a recipient of a league cup yellow in the early rounds for Everton, his booking today for a foul on Yaya Tourรฉ means he has now accrued a further three in the league for new club Arsenal, and takes up the spot on the tightrope vacated by Song.

Thereโ€™s been some confusion about this as a result of talk of an earlier booking at Blackburn whilst with Everton. Weโ€™ve had it confirmed by Opta that this booking was never actually awarded (despite what other sources show); as a result, Arteta has now moved on to four yellow cards โ€“ one short of a ban. We will of course clarify this with the FA and confirm tomorrow.

With the other disciplinary matters of the gameweek rounded up in yesterdayโ€™s article, thereโ€™s just time for a final line to summarise the Luis Suarez situation: with the hearing into his alleged racism underway and a decision delayed until Tuesday at the earliest, there’s still some uncertainty as to whether we’ll know more before the gameweek 17 deadline of 19:30 GMT the same day. It’s entirely possible that if a decision is delayed again until Wednesday, and if a ban is handed out that afternoon, that he would be ineligible for Liverpool’s trip to Wigan in the evening. We’ll of course keep you posted as soon as we hear anything.

GAMEWEEK 17 BANS

  • Alex Song (Arsenal) โ€“ 5 Yellows (1 match)
  • David Wheater (Bolton) โ€“ 1 Red for serious foul play (Last of 4 matches)
  • Jay Spearing (Liverpool) โ€“ 1 Red for serious foul play (Last of 3 matches)
  • Yohan Cabaye (Newcastle) โ€“ 5 Yellows (1 match)
  • Dan Gosling (Newcastle) โ€“ 1 Red for serious foul play (Second of 3 matches)
  • Ryan Shawcross (Stoke) โ€“ 5 Yellows (1 match)

I never used to like Balotelli but after his recent games I think he is really talented,
But when he didnt stretch or dive or put any effort in what so ever to put that through ball into the back of the net I just thought what a waste. He could be absolutely awesome.

Dude, aim an Italy supporter and he is soooooooooi frustrating, he could be legendary, but always tries to be too funny/clever/gangsta/stroppy.
He could take us to the Euro finals, but probably more likely to get sent home in disgrace after a hotel party with the Ukrainian mafia or something!!

Haha great synopsis of Super Mario. He is definitely entertaining. I just don't think he takes football too seriously which is part funny part crazy. He is a character though and football needs that, Heard he was dressed as Santa handing out money in Manchester last night!

Another week where the scout picks team is absolutely dire... usually they get 3 players out of 14 but this week is exceptionally bad.

I wonder how many points you would be on if you could change your team without losing points and have the "scout picks" team every week. Combining that with the captain poll pick I think the team would be lucky to break into the top 1,000,000

Its true they really are irrelevant... dont get me wrong the website is top notch for information etc

the opinionated stuff is where things go wrong imo... watchlist is another example its more a "these players are on form" than ones to watch

I disagree but I would suggest to you to shop around. I try to have a look at totalfpl and nevercaptainnickybutt before I select my team. If you're having a dig at the podcast, I'd definitely disagree. They cover a lot of interesting stuff. There's an Irish podcast (Google Fantasy Premier League Transfers) that I've heard a couple of times which is absolutely dire and uninformative in comparison.

That's all it is though, an opinion. You then have the choice to use or ignore the information. There is no crystal ball. No matter what anyone says or does on fantasy football websites we are all at the mercy of the managers selecting the teams and the players performing well.

And there is a fine line between getting 2 points or getting 6, and a bit of luck that you captain the guy with 6 and not 2. It's all pretty random and unpredictable.

It's all opinion - there's hits and misses, but I wouldn't say our record is bad by any means. The Watchlist for example, Demba Ba was covered a few days before he scored two at Norwich and, before that, we covered Yakubu in a Watchlist prior to Stoke, he drew a blank there and scored four a week after.

The last two Watchlists - Fletcher - fair enough he got nothing against Stoke but he was set up with that game and has another strong home game against Norwich . Samba - another assist yesterday and another decent home game to come against Bolton.

We focus those articles on new players - not just the best players for the gameweek coming up - they are not one week articles - they are picking out players for the next 3-4 gameweeks.

I don't know about O'Hara but you raise a good question as there's so few £6m-rated midfielders who are any good. If Drenthe has finally made his peace with Moyes then he could be a great points scorer. Difficult to know though.

I wanted to have a solid bench for the christmas fixtures and all the rotation that goes on,

Almost singlehandedly won the game for Everton. Could have had a goal and assist in 20 minutes gametime.

Lots of potential, just a matter of whether Moyes gives him the opportunity to show it.

Right, I'll probably get slaughtered on this one. I'm gonna take out Bale and Adebayor ( I don't give a shit about this DGW anymore...who knows it could be the only one of the season due to weather being good...fixture congestion with cups might give us one or two more).

GW18 Adebayor to Rooney (will take a 4 point hit for this in GW17 if Rooney looks like going up on Monday night)

First thought is too much $ tied up in defence at the expense of your midfield.

You could probably lose Baines (unless you're on the bandwagon) and go to someone like NTaylor, which would help you upgrade say O'Hara -> Dempsey or Walters -> Nani/VDV/Mata.

I know I know- But rooney was in a slump too and I got him for the Wolves game.
The stats are there- He took 1 less shot than Rooney against QPR. I dont know if im sold on Aguero, but id like a City striker for sure.

Dont see much rotation amongst these players. Maybe Valencia since he has just started playing every week. I dont like your transfer there is no way to be sure if Hernandez will start and well Yak is not a sure thing.

Im currently planning to Gamble on a City Striker- Stoke away always leaking goals.

    The plan.

    GW 17: Nothing, (Baines (C) ;))
GW 18: Baines --> Vermaelen, Adebayor --> Hernandez, VDV --> Nani (4 point hit)
    GW 19: Nothing
GW 20: Hernandez --> Adebayor, Vermaelen --> Walker, Walters --> Bale (4 point hit)

I like the look of it, hope I can stick to it. Really hope Hernandez gets those two home games, he's my alternative to Rooney (who would involve messing with my team to get)

    Vorm (Krul)
    Kompany ; Enrique ; Jones (Brown ; N Taylor)

planning on saving the free this GW17 and then in GW18 do:

    Gwk 17 - No transfer

Gwk 18 - Baines -> Enrique, Ade - > Rooney, no hit.. I can then get Ade back for gwk 20 if needs be..

Thoughts? Reaction earlier was that it could easily come back to bite me so not worth it..

p.s atm I would only have 0.1 to spare, what are the chances of both of these players rising in price before gwk 18?

I agree. I'd say rest Bale. Injury clouds, so may not even play or may get limited time. But as simsey33 said they play chelsea anyway and most likely won't run riot so doubling up may not work as well as other weeks. Nani is in good form also so it all depends on if Drenthe starts. If he does I think he could tear up Swansea. Tough one though, great mids and fwds btw ๐Ÿ™‚

    Evans - Baines - Simpson

After a really bad start, and being labelled a "saddo" and a "stao" and "past it" I am now finally within a few points of the lead

Man, I cannot wait to claim that cash come the season end. I'm going to get it all in pound notes and then role about in it in a paddling pool Cartman style. "Mmmmm, friends money......."
