John Terry suffers a training ground Achilles scare but is expected to be fit for Thursday’s trip to Spurs. Jamie O’Hara is still unavailable for Wolves ahead of tomorrow night’s home game with Norwich, while the injuries continue to mount up for Steve Kean:

Wolves confirmed earlier today that both Jamie O’Hara and Dave Edwards are out of tomorrow night’s game against Norwich. The pair missed the weekend defeat at home to Stoke but O’Hara had initially been expected to be fit for the Canaries game. Given he has averaged over 9 points per game in his last three Molineux fixtures, his loss is a significant blow for both Mick McCarthy and Fantasy managers alike.

The injuries continue to rack up for Blackburn’s under-fire boss Steve Kean. Gael Givet is set for a spell on the sidelines, with the club announcing he is to undergo minor heart surgery, though Kean doesn’t expect his length of absence to be too prolonged. Scott Dann is also out for an estimated period of 6 weeks– the centre-half injured his groin in the process of scoring his side’s equaliser against West Brom and is to undergo an operation. Kean does, however, expect Junior Hoilett to be available for tomorrow night’s visit of Bolton.

Chelsea’s open training session today saw John Terry helped off the pitch after suffering what appeared to be an ankle problem. The club physios have since said he tweaked his Achilles but the Blues skipper is expected to be fit for Thursday’s trip to Spurs. David Luiz and Ramires both sat out training, with the pair having missed the visit to Wigan at the weekend.

The omission of Darren Bent from Aston Villa’s first XI against Liverpool yesterday came as a surprise to many. Bent’s subsequent Christmas shopping trip as his side went down 2-0 raised more than a few eyebrows, though, and led Alex McLeish to insist there has been no falling out between the pair. With Gabby Agbonlahor also out due to suspension, Villa were forced to field Emile Heskey and Nathan Delfouneso up front and never threatened Kenny Dalglish’s side throughout the ninety minutes. Big Eck explained post-match:

Darren had a scan during the week. It confirmed he had a grade one injury, I didn’t reveal it because I wanted to keep things back from Liverpool. You have to understand that. I didn’t want Liverpool knowing our starting line-up. Darren was injured. Bent was in for two hours’ treatment this morning and was told to rest at home. He went home and watched the game but near the end he went out to collect some Christmas presents. End of story.

Johan Djourou limped out of Arsenal’s game against Manchester City yesterday with a groin injury. Djourou was replaced after 46 minutes by Ignasi Miquel and with Arsene Wenger estimating the Swiss international is likely to be out for 21 days, it’s fair to say the Gunners have something of a defensive dilemma right now. Kieran Gibbs has an outside chance of making it for the game at Aston Villa but barring that, Miquel could well continue at left-back, with Thomas Vermaelen moving back to the centre and Laurent Koscielny out right.

Want to bring in Sturridge for Yak after this GW, just working out how to do it:

    Vorm/Krul,
    Richards, Jones, Vermaelen (Naylor, Wilks)
    Nani, Silva, Bale, Drenthe (Tiote)
    RvP, Ade, Yak

Any ideas? Was thinking Jones to JEvans but potentially miss out on Jones attacking forays.

Anyone with knowledge of Norwich out there.Pilks seems to havelos this place and Surman at 4.3 is playing?

Is this likely to continue because at that price he may be worth a place as bench fodder with the occasional 2 pointer when called on?

My biggest bandwagon fail has involved Bale and VDV.
I got rid of Bale jumping onto the VDV bandwagon exactly when Bale came good.
Then got Bale back in for almost a million more than i sold him for, moving out VDV, Bale has since been injured and VDV has done good last GW.

Bendtner also a massive mistake for me

This year in GW2 with the do-over to start the season I bought in Fernando Torres thinking of him as the great differential...

I was spot on about differential! Torres went off after 58 minutes in a dire display earning 1 measly point and I got a paltry 34 overall dropping me so far down in most leagues it has taken an eternity to recover.

Who would you captain for GW17 form this team:

    A: Most possible point scorer?
B: Risky move with the hope for differential success?

    Krul (Al-Habsi)
    R.Taylor, Vermaelen, Enrique (Naylor, Gabbidon)
    Drenthe, VDV, Nani, Silva (Moses)
    Ade, RVP, Yakubu

My own gut feelings are A: RVP or VDV, B: Yak, Drenthe or Vermaelen

I think B is more interesting at this time of the season - nearly all of my mini-league will captain RVP, so I thought I'd stick my neck out and captain Dzeko - City played on Sunday will Balo starting, so figure Dzeko is due another run soon...plus Stoke have conceded a lot away from home.

So, to your team, I think Yak would be an equivalent risk to mine, if not slightly safer in that he'll certainly start.

I'm tipping towards Yak, even I captained him last GW also... I'm chasing the lead in my country's and club fan's global leagues. Trailing less than 80 points and just under 100 points respectively. So, maybe I order one more 4 goal night from Yak 🙂

Blackburn are in deep trouble and the fans are distraught, don't captain Yakubu at all whether he is a differential or not but that is up to you

My post seems to have been missed!

    Grateful for help!

Want to bring in Sturridge for Yak after this GW, just working out how to do it:

    Vorm/Krul,
    Richards, Jones, Vermaelen (Naylor, Wilks)
    Nani, Silva, Bale, Drenthe (Tiote)
    RvP, Ade, Yak

    Any ideas?

so you need 1 mil as it stands, it means downgrading 1 of your better players! or making 3 transfers with bench players involved eg. yak, tiote, krul out, sturridge, ferguson, ruddy in... could hurt you over xmas. would you mind losing one of your expensive players?

The key points from Gameweek 16 are:

    1. Sturridge is really the only Chelsea player that you can depend on for your fantasy premier league team and is the best value considering he plays for a top 4 side, is €7 million mark and delivers week in & week out.

    2. Everton are a better side with Drenthe in the team and the dutchman and Baines are really the only Everton Coverage you want. Don’t forget thedouble gameweek in gameweek 20 that see’s them play Bolton & Tottenham.

    3. Expect more goals from Holt and Morison with Morison possibly the best value Striker in the Fantasy Premier League.

    4. Clint Dempsey is in a good run of form and should now be on your watchlist along with
    Bryan Ruiz.

    5. Gomez keeps on scoring for Wigan, he is a good squad player but he is too unpredictable for Fantasy Premier League. Keep an eye on him for the last few Gameweeks as if Wigan are scrapping for points he will be key.

    6. Suarez is the most unlucky striker to play in the Premier League, don’t be surprized to see him go on a scoring run. ,

    7. Phil Jones looked to have cemented his place in the Man Utd midfield for the time being – worth considering and J Evans is only €4.5 million. Both players could benefit from a run of fixtures with clean sheet potential and both players had significant chances against QPR so don’t be surprized to see them score over the festive period!

      Euros? £££££££££££ 😀

Not liking Fulham's fixtures, great in patches tbh. Gomez, Morison, Holt etc are all unpredictable.

I fear Moyes will use Drenthe as an impact sub and start Cahill, Osman and Coleman.....

Any Osman Love? Agree with point 2 of Abhishek-thanks. Osman is no Walters but with an easy run of fixtures AND a double gameweek, I think him AND Drenthe should be considered. Already have Drenthe and Jags but I am going all in with Everton and riding this out. I have all the other big scorers Ba (pun intended) Sturridge. Keeping Roopig, Ade and VP for now.

Anyway, I hope to have Drenthe, VDV, Bale, Osman and Cahill by the double gameweek. Phase I starts now. Any Osman Love? Osman Osman Osman.

Every year he goes on a good little run at some point, could be the time to get him in - but I suspect most people won't want to commit two midfield spots to such a low scoring team and if you're having one Everton mid then Drenthe looks better.

Folk getting carried away with Everton for the DGW. Granted there may be points potential against Bolton, but its unlikely they will come away from the Spuds game with anything other than a defeat.

Stuck on bottom on previous page..

    Vorm
    Brown Simpson Enrique Jones
    Drenthe Silva(v) Nani
    Ba RVP(C) Adebayor

    Given BAE Walters Dyer

1FT, 2.9 in bank. Pretty sure I should 1, but not much faith in Brown. So do I:

    1 – Save FT
    2 – Brown–>Evans/Gabbidon
3 – Dyer —->Shelvey/sub 5M mid (to play in place of Brown)
4 – Play Walters over Brown

Well, I think that Walters is still a goal threat and he's on pens. Man City will have to deal with Crouch knock-downs, flick-ons etc.. They may be good but Stoke have the ability to score against anybody. Also you don't have Kompany/Richards to worry about for the CS.

Brown is a likely 2 pointer. QPR can score goals.

I'd keep the FT til next week and make 2 changes and invest your bank account. You might dump Given, pick up a playing keeper and upgrade Dyer or Brown.

So what do people think of Shelvey?
    Will he start?

At 4.8m he is a potential bargain if he starts regularly for Liverpool. I'm tempted as I want to downgrade a midfielder so I can upgrade a striker to Rooney.

    Hey all

Have 2 free transfers and 0.1 in the bank. Feel I should make a change or two but don't know which! Any suggestions? Squad is:

    Vorm / Al Habsi
    Kompany / BAE / Simpson / Jose Enrique / N. Taylor
    Drenthe / Moses / Silva/ VDV / Allen
    Rooney / Ba / RVP

    Thanks in advance!

That is a nice squad you've got with some good cheap players in there too. I don't like Al Habsi but there isn't much you can get for that price. Not sure if I would do anything with that just now.
