With the dust barely settled from the weekend’s action, Gameweek 17 is upon us immediately and we’ve still the small matter of announcing the Round Five fixtures for the Paddy Power Cup V. Before that however, let’s take a minute to reflect on the results from Round Four, which can be viewed right here. The headlines…

A brand new name will be etched onto the mythical Cup, as reigning champ Ninja_Fit_Saints become the fourth and final former winner to meet his match. Mayhey Kid took the scalp 56 – 39, to complete the four-week demise of the Cup royalty.

There’s no stopping Mark though, who dispatched Hassyg 72 – 55 booking his place in the last 64. That score of 72 earned the Scout leader a bronze medal for the week, bettered only by Dyslexia United‘s 73 (- 32 Tommytabs123) and Milton Millieiscos‘ top-scoring 77 (- 46 F.Y.F.B).

Now, onto the fifth round draw… The 32 fixtures are available to peruse right here.

The highest-ranked fantasy manager left in the competition is non other than Der-Hammer95, sitting a hugely impressive 356th overall. He comes up against s4petah, who beat the round three top-scorer at the weekend.

Mark’s fine run looks set to continue, as he has drawn the lowest-ranked manager left in the competition, Mighty Manchester.

Good luck to all 64 participants, and we’ll bring you the results and subsequent fixtures in plenty of time before the Boxing Day Premier League games.

Morning Fratboy...this post from a Newcastle forum suggests he is integral and instrumental:

      Newcastle v Blackburn
Yohan Cabaye was the Newcastle United player to cover the most ground (12,106m/7.52miles) against Blackburn, followed by Cheik Tiote (11,612m/7.22miles)

      Wolves v Newcastle
Yohan Cabaye and Cheik Tiote topped the charts for distance covered again with 11.7km and 12.1km respectively

      Newcastle v Spurs
Midfield duo Yohan Cabaye (7.5 miles) and Cheik Tiote(7.05 miles) covered the most ground of any Newcastle player during the game again proving they are playing a huge part in the Toon Army’s unbeaten start to the season

      Newcastle V Wigan
Cabaye (7.04 miles) and Tiote (6.87 miles) covered more distance during the game than any other Newcastle player. Both players also had the highest average speed during the game for Newcastle with Cabaye averaging 5.46mph and Tiote 5.04mph.

Tiote and Cabaye are the 2nd and 3rd hardest working players in the Premier League, having covered 72.12 km and 71.85 km respectively in the league so far, behind only Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey. Cabaye has the 4th highest tackle success rate with a 65% success rate from his 43 tackles. When interviewed by Sky Sports ahead of the Tottenham home game both Ryan and Steven Taylor singled out French midfielder Yohan Cabaye as the player they have been most impressed by this season.

      Top 10 Premier League Partnerships

3 - Scott Parker and Luka Modric
2 - David Silva and Sergio Aguero
1 - Yohann Cabaye and Chiek Tiote

Not that many teams play 4-4-2 these days. The fashion is to pack the midfield to ensure control of possession, and therefore control the game. This is clearly most efficiently done in a variant of a 4-5-1 formation, giving yourself an extra man in the middle to do some extra work. Of course, Newcastle don't actually have to play three in midfield, because they have Cabaye and Tiote. EA Sports, who are doing the Premier League's statistics these days, run a 'Team of the Week' on their website, and whichever poor whelp has to write the thing must be getting terribly bored, because every week they seem to write 'Cabaye covered the most ground, followed by Tiote.' The pair usually get through 14 miles a game between them. 14 miles. That's...well, it's a long way. In more ways than one, they're the central reason that Newcastle's season has started so damned well.

      Massive, massive player for us!

      I asked Heco yesterday.

He seemed to think it won't affect Newcastle offensively since its only WBA, but defensively to a certain extent since Tiote relies on on Cabaye quite a lot.

      My thoughts are... Don't.

It's very possible Swansea can keep out Everton at Goodison. If they do and you miss out on a Vorm cleansheet it can be a bit damaging.

I have tried to rotate Foster in for a few games but it consistently fails, it's just pointless, just play Vorm when he has anywhere near a decent fixture.

Whats peoples assessment of Brad Friedel's fpl potential? With Spuds looking tighter at the back this season and with the DGW looming he is an attractive proposition. Picked up 3 bp's last week and is climbing the keeper rankings. I'm seriously considering him as a Krul replacement in time for the DGW, but much depends on Bale's fitness over the preceeding gw's. Do people think he is a good option, and does he rotate well with Vorm?

I think he's a bit too expensive to rotate, and for the money you'd be better off with BAE - or better yet Walker, Spurs don't keep many cleanies and with Ledley out a cleanie is a very rare occurrance, I'd rather have the attacking potential of one of the fullbacks.

I don't think you really need Sturridge this week, so it's not urgent.

Personally out of those options I'd take a punt on Drenthe. Ramsey does nothing. Although saying that, Hernandez is back, so I don't know how much game time Wellbeck will get.

Guys, still struggling big time with the captain decision. Silva or Ba?(not keen on RVP)

    - Captained Ba last week. The 2 pointer hurt:) But he was pretty dangerous all throughout, and I have a feeling hell make up for it this time. Just one thing, WBA seem to do well away, and already playing Krul and Simpson.

    - Silva is my first choice. Danger is a sub appearance. Stoke terrible away, and hes in form, so should not be dropped? If he plays, Im sure hell have a 8-9 pointer atleast.

    Need help!

The only news is that Raylor is an atrocious player. And Santon isn't. Having said that, I was reminded earlier that as cabeye is suspended, Raylor might have to be shoe horned in somewhere to take the set pieces.
