Steve Morison gets amongst the points yet again for Norwich. Wayne Hennessey’s heroics restrict the Canaries to a couple of goals at Molineux, while Chris Eagles’ Fantasy owners will be getting a little nervous as the winger is benched for the second match in a row:

Steve Morison
Once again, the Welshman produced the goods for his Fantasy owners last night. Morison provided an assist for Simeon Jackson’s goal to put Norwich 2-1 ahead at Molineux and, in terms of value, is the number one outfield player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game. Morison’s consistency is so strong he gets an almost-weekly mention in the Scout Notes- last night’s contribution means that, since becoming a permanent fixture in Paul Lambert’s starting XI back in Gameweek 5, he has either scored or assisted in all but three games. In spite of his heroics, Morison remains at 5.0, his original price, though is proving to be one of the most reliable Fantasy acquisitions around.

Andrew Surman
The midfield was a peripheral figure in the Canaries set-up over the first twelve gameweeks, making just three appearances, but now seems to have established himself in Paul Lambert’s first XI. Surman has started every match since gameweek 13, failing to finish only one of those fixtures, and vindicated his manager’s decision by firing home the opener at Wolves last night. At 4.3, he looks decent value and has crept onto the radar, though second-guessing Lambert’s team selection at times can prove a tad too tricky.

Kyle Naughton
The full-back picked up his fifth booking of the season and will serve his one-match suspension in the Canaries next game, at home to Spurs. Initially, there was some confusion over this- given that Tottenham are his parent club, he would have been ineligible to play on the 27th December anyway, but this morning we’ve had it confirmed by the FA that he will be available for selection for the New Year’s Eve fixture at home to Fulham, having served his suspension.

Kevin Doyle
His omission from last night’s Wolves lineup was something of a rarity. Doyle dropped to the bench for the first time this season, with Sylvain Ebanks-Blake fielded alongside Steven Fletcher. Given his replacement found the net, Doyle’s owners may be a little wary going forward now, with his position as an automatic first-choice forward perhaps no longer as assured.

Wayne Hennessey
The Wolves stopper may have shipped a couple of goals but performed heroics between the posts to defy Norwich time and again. Hennessey made 9 saves at Molineux last night and has now recorded 84 saves this season- given that Brad Friedel is second best with 64, the Welshman’s importance to Mick McCarthy’s outfit is obvious. You’d have to go back to gameweek 3 for the last time Hennessey recorded a clean sheet but thanks to his save points, he’s the third-top scoring keeper in FPL so far this term.

Yakubu
The Nigerian’s goal was not enough to save Blackburn from defeat but his Fantasy owners will be smiling after he grabbed his tenth goal of the campaign. Rovers fans may be calling for the head of Steve Kean but they cannot deny his purchase of Yakubu was an inspired decision- his 10 goal haul has come from just eleven starts. With away trips to Liverpool and Man United next, his owners won’t be too optimistic over the festive period.

Chris Eagles
The winger’s place in Bolton’s starting XI had seemingly looked assured over the last few months. Eagles had started every one of the Trotters’ fixtures from gameweek 8-15 but he was afforded a forty-five minute sub appearance last week away to Fulham. Last night saw this situation worsen, much to the chagrin of Eagles’ 10.8% of Fantasy owners- not only was he benched, he failed to make an appearance in what was, arguably, Bolton’s most crucial game of the season. The win at bitter rivals Blackburn lifted Bolton off the bottom of the table and given that Martin Petrov, installed in Eagles’ place on the left wing, grabbed an assist, his owners will be anxiously reviewing the situation over the next couple of gameweeks, particularly with a couple of crucial home games up next.

Kevin Davies
Similar to Eagles, his omission from the Bolton side was significant, though Davies has just 4.1% of owners in comparison. Owen Coyle went with David N’Gog alongside Ivan Klasnic, with the latter seemingly an automatic starter when available this term. With a couple of goals all season, compared to Klasnic’s 7, Davies is clearly not the steady Fantasy force he was in seasons gone by and given that he, too, sat on the bench for the entirety of the derby, his game time looked less assured than ever- Davies has completed just six full appearances this season for the Trotters.

    Hi All,

I'm a noob, and this is my 1st ever post - this is my team for this GW:

    Krul
    Enrique - Evans - Baines (c)
    Walcott, VDV, Brunt, Walters
    Ba, RVP, Adebayor

Subs - Vorm, BAE, ShawX and Dyer

2 free transfers for next week with 0.1 in the bank and a little blank on ideas - any suggestions?

    Thanks.

please never captain Baines when you have RVP. You want players who can score big, baines used to be very reliable at getting you 6 or 7 points each week but he very rarely gets a big haul. I would downgrade him to pay for Silva or Mata, regardless of the double game week.

      Welcome Stinkfly...

You've got no Chelsea cover - so Ba > Sturridge looks wise at some point - fixtures firmly in Sturridge's favour - (FUL AVL wol SUN) vs (bol liv MUN QPR).

Brunt also has tough fixtures, Dyer needs ousting as he's not guaranteed starts and also has a tough run and an injury. If Drenthe starts vs Swansea and impresses, he's your mid-price prospect for Brunt given the double gameweek to come. As for Dyer's replacment, sorry to say it - but I can't see much better than Moses in the same bracket given his role up front for Wigan right now - tough fixtures, but even so.

      Wow - cheers guys.

I'm happy to stick with Walcott through until the next wildcard, so really I'm looking at changing any of Ba, Brunt and Dyer (and maybe Baines though I would again ideally like to give him a run through to the wildcard).

I'm probably looking at Ba to Sturridge next week, and using whatever £ i've left to tinker with Brunt or Dyer.

      Thanks for the ideas.

I'm in a similar position with Rooney vs Adebayor for the next couple of GWs. It's a real toughie. Adebayor allows me to get Vermaelen as well and that is very tempting. In your case i'd definitely go number 2.

Sturridge for Ba can wait till week 19. I think Verm could score very highly in week 18 + 19 so wouldn`t take him out, same goes with Walters. In fact all I`d do is Dyer to someone who's gonna play.

thanks all - really good advice. I've got 0 in the bank so could go Dyer to Moses or Dyer to Ferguson? I hate the idea of having Ferguson, but Dyer hasnt actually made my starting 11 for 8 or 9 weeks now, perhaps saving the money might be better? Mind you i'd have to get Sturridge in for Ba or Caulker in for RTaylor or i've got 4 Newcastle...

Consider Dyer out to Tiote. Hes gonna play every game till next wildcard and your freeing up a wee bit of cash that could help with transfers later on. If you use your other one to get Sturridge it should work alright. Pretty even fixtures for Chelsea and Newcastle in 18 anyway and Sturridge will probably start rising faster than Ba shortly.

Surman seems to have taken over from Pilks and is only 4.3

Tiote is back for Newcastle and seems nailed on at 4.4

Allen is also due an assist or 2

Surman and Tiote have best fixtures imo from gw 19 in case of Surman

Same here, those four in front of me has captained Aguero(x2) and Ba. However, the leader, he who captained Ba, is the only one without RvP and his team, and that's mainly due to the fact that he out of principle doesn't use Man City, Arsenal or Chelsea players. Which makes his score of 916 pretty impressive..

RMT, have just done a triple transfer for -4, but will hopefully beat price rises.

    Westwood,
    Verm, Komp, Naylor,
    Walters, VDV, Silva, Nani,
    RVP, Sturridge, Ade

    Caulker, Shotton, Ferg

If Arsenal and Chelski games are postponed by a day I assume that will have no effect on the gameweek as a whole. (?) I always loathed tube drivers but interfering with this would make it personal!!!

I know. Hopefully if the games do have to be postponed they will simply go back 24 hours and I assume therefore no real harm done. In all my time of doing this I cant recall ever using a third sub. Just thought Sturridge was bound to go up given that Suarez is looking to be out for a while and Yaks fixtures arent looking good. Took a 0.6 hit on Raylor but I think he may struggle to regain form as Santon is excellent in that position, hence BP at weekend.

Saving a transfer this week, really hoping Drenthe plays tonight, or at least gets 50-60 minutes (ideally 60 or more obviously) so it's not one of those moves which requires rectifying in a couple of weeks again.

    Team is:

    Krul//Vorm
    Enrique//Jones//N.Taylor//Simpson//BAE
    VDV//Silva//Drenthe//Moses//Nani
    Adebayor//RVP//Sturridge

Moses is a recent addition (again) I just needed someone for 4.6 to replace Dyer, and at least we know he plays, and I was impressed with him in the Chelsea match, I think from time to time he will pull some points out, albeit on my bench.

Krul may have to go soon-ish, other than that, happy enough.

With Lennon out for a while, would Kranjcar be a good option?
at 5.7m and likely to take up the wing spot, only Pienaar stands in his way and he seems out of favor with 'arry. I could have just enough to get in VDV and Kranjcar for the DGW. Thoughts?

yes but kranjcar was unavailable I think. It was a short term move due to the circumstances imo. VDV is more effective up front and with injury clouds over Ade and Defoe would be more suited to a forward position medium-long term. Lennon is out for a while I think
