Gareth Bale is “very doubtful” for Spurs game against Chelsea. Emmanuel Adebayor has a foot problem but is expected to play. John Terry and Ramires are passed fit for the clash, while Jamie O’Hara is sidelined for up to six weeks after undergoing hernia surgery:

Andre Villas-Boas had some positive news on the injury front in this afternoon’s press conference. Both John Terry and Ramires are available for tomorrow night’s trip to Spurs, though David Luiz has been ruled out, having failed to recover from a knee problem.

Chelsea have also this afternoon confirmed their Boxing Day clash with Fulham will take place at the scheduled time of 1pm. The game had been under review due to the proposed industrial strike on the London Underground but after consideration, the club have made the decision to go ahead as planned.

Harry Redknapp’s Press Conference was a little more pessimistic in terms of injury news. Although the Spurs boss admitted Aaron Lennon’s hamstring problem is not as bad as first feared, he has concerns over the availability of key players ahead of the Chelsea game, with Gareth Bale the main concern:

Gareth’s struggling at the moment. He hasn’t been able to train. He’s very doubtful. It normally takes six or seven days for Ledley’s knee to go down, so we’ll have to wait and see how it is today and tomorrow. He’ll be 50-50 at best I would imagine. Jermain, again, has a bit of a hamstring. He thinks he’s got a chance, but the physio isn’t keen on him taking a chance. Ade’s got a foot problem, we’ll see how he is. He can’t train today, but we’re hopeful. He doesn’t miss too many games.

Jamie O’Hara is set to miss the next 4-6 weeks after undergoing double hernia surgery. The midfielder was sidelined for the weekend home game against Stoke with a calf injury but the club’s official website revealed today that O’Hara has been bothered with a hernia problem for some time and the decision has been made to operate, thus ensuring he is 100% fit for the rest of the campaign.

Johan Djourou and Kieran Gibbs are both out of Arsenal’s trip to Aston Villa this evening. Arsene Wenger had expected the latter to be available but Gibbs has suffered a setback, meaning either Thomas Vermaelen or Ignasi Miquel could start at left-back. Djourou’s absence means Laurent Koscielny is likely to be fielded at right-back, with Bacary Sagna and Carl Jenkinson still both sidelined.

        if JT is found GUILTY of being a MASSIVE RACIST i think it's pretty much nailed on in the current 'kick it out' climate.

        and there's a good chance that he'll be found guilty of using racist language.

        ironically he's done much worse than this misdemeanour, but this is the one that's going to finish him off.

      Vermealen / mata would be a more reliable choice because they rarely miss a game. Jones is a rotation risk and VDV is an injury risk. It would depend on the rest of the squad also.

          Given / J Colins / S Taylor / Nasri / Suarez

          I decided to get rid of S Taylor / Nasri / Suarez to release cash!

          and options are:

          1. Vermealen / mata / Sturridge

          2. P Jones / Van de vaart / Sturridge

          or to keep nasri and get rid of J Colins and have

    need to find a smart way to get RVP in after today - heard you guys are smart about those issues 🙂

    howard (foster)
    jones evans bains (shawx kelly)
    Mata nani VDV drenthe (walters)
    Ade BA yak
    1.1 in the bank

    was contemplating
    A - VDV + yak for RVP and surman (or gomez)
    B - a triple swap of Mata,yak,ba for sturidge (chelsie cover for matas departure) RVP and Surman/tiote (4 points hit)
    C - clever different idea?

But without confidence that all my players would start, I traded him out in a panic move right before the deadline. The Spurs aren't the same without him and I gotta figure if he almost made it for Chelsea (who knows, might still) he will make Norwich. Don't panic yet.

    Am I the only one surprised about how much support Suarez is getting? Poyet, Lugano all accussing evra. If somebody calls another person "negro" ten times! then he should be punished, end of. Forget culture barrier, in some countries it is acceptable to beat dogs to death. If they come to the UK and beats a dog, they would be punished.

    They say in Uruguay they call their mates "negro". Why the heck would Suarez be calling evra his mate during a heated derby?

        I dont think calling Roon shrek can be compared with calling evra a "negro". Suarez is degrading a entire race when he calls a black person "negro". If you called me shrek, yeah I would be hurt. If you called me a "negro" I would be really hurt because you are attacking my race, my culture, my family, everything. Racial abuse is overstepping the line.

    Which option would you have?

      P Jones and Mata if that's an option? And depends whether its who you want to transfer in or play next week, if the former, then Sturridge, if the latter, then Adebayor.

          Do you really want racism is football? Racism is one of the worst things we have in this world. And even if Terry and Suarez is not actually racists, they have to understand that it is not OK to walk around on the pitch and call black players names made up by white men when black people were legaly used as slaves for over 200 years. I hope you understand that is provocative.

    Consider this situation.. Fulham vs ManU

    Manu start back 4 of smalling rio jones evra and concede in the first 10 minutes..

    Now rio gets injured around 20 25 mins and Evans is subbed in..

    Will Evans get an FPL clean sheet If manu dont concede the rest of the match ???

    Has something like this happened before ??

        Interestingly doesnt work the otherway round if evans started kept a clean sheet got injured 70 mins and then united conceeded 80mins = no clean sheet points

          Thats false. If Utd have kept a cs and Evans starts and plays till 70th min and Evans gets taken off then he gets the cs points no matter what happens after that.

    As a spurs supporter I am obviously more bothered about all our players being fit and am slightly concerned by the current apparent injury crisis. However from a FPL perspective I do find it amusing that those same people who were laughing and joking about VDV's hammy after they had made the switch to Bale are now in precisely the same situation but with no obvious route out that is better and a double GW looming

    p.s. I held onto VDV but did a double switch two weeks ago which included bringing the Pig in 🙂

      Bale to Nani
      Johnson to Hoolahan/Surman
      Warnock to Koscielny ... all in all, a four point hit.

      What do you, or any one else think? 😀

    Depending on this GW, Rooney or deadwood will be main priority.

    Given Vorm
    BAE Simpson Jones Enrique Brown
    Nani Silva Walters Dyer Drenthe
    RVP Ade Ba

    2.9M in bank. 2FTs.

    1 – Nani + Ba —>Valenica/Larsson + Rooney
    2 – Given + Ade —->Sorensen + Rooney
    3 – Dyer + Ade —-> Gower/Reo Cocker + Rooney
    4 – Brown + Ade —->Rooney + Gabbidon
    5 – Brown + Evans and roll over the other FT
    6 - Drenthe + Brown ---->Evans and Larsson
