[sbu_large_image] The Knee Jerk

And relax. Even before tomorrow night’s top of the bill clash at the Lane, this is no ordinary gameweek. Wednesday’s avalanche of goals and assists left us breathless at times, as United and City ruthlessly exposed opponents who simply looked out of their depth. And yet, as anticipated in yesterday’s preamble, there were cruel barbed surprises packaged amongst the night’s bounty of points.

The goals flowed, with popular Fantasy properties delivering – Nani, Sergio Aguero, Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Demba Ba – all players that boast huge ownerships throughout the Fantasy games, came good. Incredibly, the defenders also got in on the act: clean sheets for City, United, Liverpool and even Everton, brought profits at the back, on a night of handsome attacking hauls.

For some however, the clean sheets were soiled. The jaw injury sustained by Phil Jones will have robbed many of rewards from United’s win – a potential absence, with early reports already suggesting six weeks – will perhaps hit harder than the points lost. We await news from tomorrow’s x-rays, keeping the knees from jerking until we have confirmation.

The withdrawal of Micah Richards on 58 minutes was even more sickening. Feeling the effects of Dean Whitehead’s studs down his calf, the raiding right-back was preserved by Roberto Mancini, just two minutes from claiming his Fantasy owners a clean sheet from City’s oh-so comfortable win.

Twenty-four hours ago, we discussed such twists. The injustice will be hard to swallow right now, but those who felt the sting of tonight’s events, can be assured that these won’t be the last curveballs thrown. Off to the Lane.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    I've been against losing Silva but Nani has Wigan, Blackburn and Bolton all at home. Silva has 2 away games and then Liverpool. Cant lose Mata with his fixtures and VDV has a DGW.

    Would need to do this tonight in case Nani rises

    Silva-> Nani
    Jones-> Vermalen

          I'd rather Nani at home to Wigan. Without a doubt, but then I don't think Silva is 'essential' as some do.

    Jones -> Evans & Yakubu -> Sturridge, no hit..

    Any reason not to do it tonight? (bar of course Sturridge might get injured tomorrow night but is rising tonight so worth a risk)

    Have to do Jones -> Evans to fund it..

    Good to go?

      This is actually the exact same move I have in mind, but I'm going to wait another day until the injury is confirmed.

      May well end up doing it anyway, but don't want to have 4 cheapies + 1 pricey defender at the back.

    Hate early transfers but Jones, Baines (temporary) and Dyer to Evans, Caulkner and Nani leaves with no money, and Dyer is dropping and Nani is rising.

    About to pull the trigger on (for a 4pt hit):

    Kompany -> Evans
    VDV -> Nani
    Yak -> Sturridge

    Get VDV back for the double, just WIG + BLA is too good for just Rooney coverage.

    Can anyone talk me out of it?

    Have to make a tough choice between Drenthe or Osman for this week, away at Sunderland.

    If I knew they'd both start, it would be Drenthe every day of the week, but Moyes' comments about 'Roy' not defending scare me.

      He could be a very frustrating player to own if those comments are true.

      It's between him and Walters (home to Villa) this week and if I knew Drenthe would play, even though he has the away game I'd pick him but right now I'm thinking Walters.

          The thing about Silva is I would never captain him. He strikes me as a solid 5-7 point player and for a captain you want someone more explosive.

          To answer your question I'd probably go with Nani and Adebayor. I rate Valencia highly but he doesn't strike me as having the same points potential as the other three you named.

            I'd love to have Rooney for the next 2 though thats the thing. I think he's a more reliable captain than Nani who's very hit and miss.
            But it seems now that with Yung injured Nani is nailed on for the next 2 games so I may just go with him.
            Other option would be to sell VDV to Nani but that leaves me with no Spurs coverage.

    Alot of people saying last week about how VDV > Nani last week was a ridiculous transfer and people who did it were punished (with VDV scoring 6 and Nani 3)
    Assuming Nani gets 3 bp's (although never safe to second guess the bonus system) VDV will have to score 14 to get even with Nani, who then has 2 home games to 2 of the worst teams in the league.
    Funny game..

        Have only seen the MOTD highlights, but Rooney was 2 minutes (and a worldly strike) away from scoring 2 points in a 4-0 win tonight. With RvP you just know that if Arsenal score a few goals, he'll be heavily involved.

        Plus, from what I've seen of Wolves recently, they are completely there for the taking. Chelsea and United both destroyed them at home recently, not so much in the scoreline, but in terms of dominance.

    If Jones really is out for 6 weeks, there should be a massive price drop and I can have a second bite of the cherry.

      Bit of a disaster for Utd and my team, he was ruling the roost. Bleurgh.

        Awful news.

        Still, if confirmed to be out that long we'll just have to sell and buy him back with a loss that is not TOO big when he's fit again.

          The FPL loss is secondary to the fact that we've got no one left to play in midfield with Carrick. Rooney owners should be getting worried.

            Can't Fletcher just wear a nappy and play?

            I hadn't considered what it may mean for Roo, particularly with Welbeck and Chico now fit.

        yeh, he was looking great at CM in real life and fantasy. After never biting the bullet (rotation etc.), I felt I'd never get him because he'd become too expensive whilst rivals swam in his points. Now, I can maybe find a way to purchase him and not have his hauls killing me in my ML.

    Hmm, Jones and Bale injured? Booo, and I just got both of them in.

    Rio Ferdinand is 0.1 cheaper than Jones... a swap there could be good perhaps. I'm not sure why he didn't play tonight but if he keeps getting starts I'd be happy. With Bale I'm less confident, who could swap for him? I've 0.0 in the bank, Dempsey perhaps? Or Arteta? I wouldn't mind Yaya Toure, but ACN is on the horizon.

      Hmm, Valencia could swap for Bale, but I already have Nani. Is two United wingers too many I wonder?

    Long term what do you think is better:

    A. Bale & Aguero
    B. Silva & Adebayor
