[sbu_large_image] The Knee Jerk

And relax. Even before tomorrow night’s top of the bill clash at the Lane, this is no ordinary gameweek. Wednesday’s avalanche of goals and assists left us breathless at times, as United and City ruthlessly exposed opponents who simply looked out of their depth. And yet, as anticipated in yesterday’s preamble, there were cruel barbed surprises packaged amongst the night’s bounty of points.

The goals flowed, with popular Fantasy properties delivering – Nani, Sergio Aguero, Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Demba Ba – all players that boast huge ownerships throughout the Fantasy games, came good. Incredibly, the defenders also got in on the act: clean sheets for City, United, Liverpool and even Everton, brought profits at the back, on a night of handsome attacking hauls.

For some however, the clean sheets were soiled. The jaw injury sustained by Phil Jones will have robbed many of rewards from United’s win – a potential absence, with early reports already suggesting six weeks – will perhaps hit harder than the points lost. We await news from tomorrow’s x-rays, keeping the knees from jerking until we have confirmation.

The withdrawal of Micah Richards on 58 minutes was even more sickening. Feeling the effects of Dean Whitehead’s studs down his calf, the raiding right-back was preserved by Roberto Mancini, just two minutes from claiming his Fantasy owners a clean sheet from City’s oh-so comfortable win.

Twenty-four hours ago, we discussed such twists. The injustice will be hard to swallow right now, but those who felt the sting of tonight’s events, can be assured that these won’t be the last curveballs thrown. Off to the Lane.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Nani could easily explode and get another big score, but equally he could just end with 2 or 3 points. With RVP you know if Arsenal score, which they will, he will almost certainly have something to do with it and be getting points. RVP gets the armband yet again for me.

What a night! Watched the Liverpool match on Sky (oh dear), laptop beside me updating goals and assists every 5 minutes.

I have a question....does competing in a mini league slightly ruin things for you guys?

My main league (work) is a very competitive affair. My main two opponents scored 67 and 65 and I lost top spot. I scored 54 (which is very good) but I couldn't help but feel disappointed the longer the night went on. What the hell is wrong with me?

I was really sad I had benched McAuley and then Brown scores...yay....ELATION...this last about 3 minutes as my opponents' clean sheets roll in on the final whistles in the other matches.

Apologies if you've had a bad GW and my ramblings are irksome to you but I really feel like dropping out of my work mini league next season just to fully appreciate the Fantasy joy of nights like tonight.

Thanks, good night, Happy Christmas.....cmon Sturridge, cmon Adebayor, BAE please injure yourself warming up so I can get McAuleys' points 🙂

but surely thats the point of being in a minileague? so you can feel that joy when you destroy the others in your minileague- i know thats why i play. not for the overall ranking really, thats just a bonus

Mini league makes it better for me. It's nice to have a good rank but I make decisions based on my mini league.

So earlier on this season I took hits when I knew the leader had, because it wouldn't have such a bad affect on my ability to catch up.

Last year my rank suffered because I knew I'd already won my mini league so it gave me the chance to take some stupid hits.

54 is good but no, the competition is what makes it.

I've walked my league 3 seasons running now and it was getting boring, so i convinced a few of the lads to switch over to FPL. Haven't been top of the league all season and there's 5 of us all in with a shout of winning.

It's all aabout bragging rights. And the 100Euro down is a motivator too 🙂

I am considering dropping out of FPL altogther. I benched Brown.

Rival has demba capt for 3 weeks and hasnt checked his team, he has had etherington come of his bench to get 23pts in 2GWs and now will get 9 from kompany and etherington didnt play.

Another has had not seen his team since GW5, has nani captain and a GK combo of Begovic/Al Habsi.

I am not getting any luck at all and think I used to enjoy watching football more before i started playing FPL last year.

Who are people thinking of getting rid of Jones for?

I'm waiting until we hear some more news but current candidates are

    Walker
    Skrtel
    Kompany

Skrtel would mean doubling up on Liverpool with Enrique but hopefully their fixtures mean it's not too late to jump on that bandwagon. I only got rid of Walker this week to fund Dyer to Drenthe, but he has a DGW coming up so might not be bad bringing him back. Kompany is a bit meh but City have some nice fixtures too, albeit away games
