[sbu_large_image] The Knee Jerk

And relax. Even before tomorrow night’s top of the bill clash at the Lane, this is no ordinary gameweek. Wednesday’s avalanche of goals and assists left us breathless at times, as United and City ruthlessly exposed opponents who simply looked out of their depth. And yet, as anticipated in yesterday’s preamble, there were cruel barbed surprises packaged amongst the night’s bounty of points.

The goals flowed, with popular Fantasy properties delivering – Nani, Sergio Aguero, Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Demba Ba – all players that boast huge ownerships throughout the Fantasy games, came good. Incredibly, the defenders also got in on the act: clean sheets for City, United, Liverpool and even Everton, brought profits at the back, on a night of handsome attacking hauls.

For some however, the clean sheets were soiled. The jaw injury sustained by Phil Jones will have robbed many of rewards from United’s win – a potential absence, with early reports already suggesting six weeks – will perhaps hit harder than the points lost. We await news from tomorrow’s x-rays, keeping the knees from jerking until we have confirmation.

The withdrawal of Micah Richards on 58 minutes was even more sickening. Feeling the effects of Dean Whitehead’s studs down his calf, the raiding right-back was preserved by Roberto Mancini, just two minutes from claiming his Fantasy owners a clean sheet from City’s oh-so comfortable win.

Twenty-four hours ago, we discussed such twists. The injustice will be hard to swallow right now, but those who felt the sting of tonight’s events, can be assured that these won’t be the last curveballs thrown. Off to the Lane.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

If his body holds up then some of Europe's top clubs must be monitoring Demba Ba right now, the guy is lethal. Very impressed with him and only 26 too, he seems to be able to do everything. 6' 2" and pretty mobile aswell

Its a shame, i suppose Newcastle getting him for free negates the risk. Without the injury worry he'd be worth 15-20 m and rising

Hey guys, just linked my team. I don't have a great points total because of a bad start but started doing better until a few weeks ago, where my points seem to have just stagnated around average each week. Anyway, what the hell should I do with my team to make it better? Thinking Suarez to Aguero but would have to downgrade elsewhere (thinking Krul to Ruddy / Al Habsi).

If link doesn't work, team for GW18 is:

    Vorm (Krul)
    Evans, Taylor, Enrique, Walker (Tierney)
    Walters, Mata, Silva, Bale (Moses)
    Suarez, RVP (Yak)

    Cheers guys

In reply to Holy See, I can exactly afford Yak to sturridge with 0 left over.

I'm not dead keen on getting rid of Bale because I bought him for 7.9, so would only want to get rid if he's long term injured.

Talk of Rooney and sturridge got me thinking though, is the following (staggered over a few weeks) madness?

        Yak > Sturridge
        Krul > Ruddy
        RVP > Rooney
        Suarez > Aguero

The only things putting me off are lack of Spurs coverage for dgw and getting rid of RVP.

Sturridge will go up in the next hour or 2, so you won't be able to do it tomoro. Obviously an element of risk involved, seeing as he could get injured v Spurs, so do ya feel lucky? Wouldn't look too far ahead other than that.

Looking at ways to get Aguero in but with so many big hitters in the team it's not looking good. Would have to get rid of one of

    Silva, Nani, VDV, RVP, Adebayor.

Looking at Ba to Aguero but would need to free up 3.8m elsewhere so Jones to a cheapie alone doesn't cover it. May just have to stick to Ba to Sturridge.

Your team looks fine at the moment and you have City coverage with Silva.
I'd get him in on the wildcard as games will go back to one a week and also he won't play Europa meaning that he will get 90 minutes more often.

ok this may seem crazy but here is my plan

    Siva - a 4.5 or less mid
    Yak - Rooney

If Jones is injured I will swap for Evans and get a more expensive mid for a 4 point hit.

May seem crazy, but Silva, although consistent is unlikely to bring in big hauls whereas Nani, Bale and VdV, who I have are, along with Rooney and RvP. Wasn't planning the 4 pointer but Jones' injury has thrown a few things up in the air.

I know these are all fairly shite option but I need a cheapie to tie me over until I wildcard in Jan. Who's the best out of a bad bunch?

    A) Allen (QPR, TOT, avl, ARS)
    B) Hoolahan (TOT, FUL, qpr, wba)
    C) Petrov (NEW, WOL, eve, man utd)
    D) Reo Coker (NEW, WOL, eve, man utd)

It's on order to do Yak > Sturridge tonight before he rises. Or I could do Jones > Evans instead but would lose 0.2 on Jones

Wish I could do my own knee jerking but I haven't a clue how bad Naylor & Jones' injuries are 🙁

    Preliminary jerk says
    Jones -> Vermaelen & GW19 Ba -> Hernandez
    Jones -> Shotton & GW19 Ba -> Sturridge
    Naylor -> Caulker

United play much better with Welbeck in the team. Absolutely no reason for Welbeck to get dropped in the form that United are in.

Hmm must say I disagree. Welbeck has his moments but he can abysmal a lot of the time.
Opinions of Welbeck himself aside, SAF seems to be easing Hernandez back in. He should be bright eyed and bushy-tailed by gw19 and there's no question who'll be on bench duty when he's 100%

    My current team is:

    De Gea
    Enrique Richards Jones
Nani Silva Mata Van der Vaart
    Ba Yakubu Sturridge

    Subs: Ruddy; Reo-Coker; Senderos; Tierney

I'm obviously thinking about getting rid of The Yak, and most probably being forced to do the same with Jones. I am also considering Rooney, Drenthe, Shotton, Sorensen and, in a more speculative way, Balotelli. Have 60 points advantage from the second on my minileague, 1 free transfer and 0.1 in the bank. What should be my move for the upcoming gameweeks?

He was missed a helluva lot more last season. Don't think he'd have been one of AVB's favourite though, unless he was played in the deepest midfield role - a role he was actually playing very well in in the final few weeks of his last season.

Yeah I agree, last season he would have been critical. Will never forget being at the Bridge when he scored both at home to United in the 07/08 season. Legend.

    Jones to

    Agger/Skrtel or Smalling.

    Double on Liverpool or United.

Smalling gives more spare cash but I don't really have anywhere to spend it just now anyway

O'Hara needs rid of, Already own Walters.. Thinking Ramsey is the best option for coming games despite his poor returns..

Whoever it is will be replaced by Drenthe in gwk 20..
