The decorations are up on the site, but normal service rolls on. The Team News section was fully populated in the last 24-hours and will continue to be updated today and even tomorrow, with any last minute scraps.

Yesterday’s big news concerned Phil Jones’ jaw, with the United’s Mr Versatile looking likely to take to the field when Wigan come visit Old Trafford. Elsewhere, Chelsea look set to be forced into a defensive shuffle, which may even see Jose Bosingwa or Paulo Ferreira alongside John Terry, if David Luiz fails to overcome his knee injury. We’re not quite sure which is the lesser of those potential evils.

Meanwhile, Man City have minor doubts over both Micah Richards and Edin Dzeko before their trip to the Hawthorns, with Adam Johnson having major doubts over his City future. Let’s hope the bench at West Brom is a comfortable one.

The Scout Picks will follow on this evening, with several articles scheduled to arrive between then and now. We’ll keep you informed on all the latest, via the tweets.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

So how many Spurs & Everton players are people planning on having for gw20?

Adebayor and Bale will be in every team but unless Vdv's is fit i can't see much value elsewhere. Maybe BAE. As for Everton I don't think it's really worth having more than one. Will probably pick one from Baines, Drenthe or Osman.

Wouldnt be too keen on having 2 Evertonians myself, doubt they'll get much from the Spurs match.

Planning on bringing in Ade/Bale/BAE/Drenthe or Osman over the next few GWs.

I tend to agree more than one Everton player may be too much, but I'm bitter about hopping on the Baineswagon and then swiftly hopping back off recently.

Really sorry about this, but I have an absolute headache over getting rid of Vdv, already have my quota of Man U players so am left with the following options after a bit of narrowing down:

    a) Vdv > Bale/Mata/Gerrard
    (optional McAuley > Shotton)

    b) Vdv > Nani
    Jones > Verm/BAE

    c) Vdv > Nani
    Rooney > Sturridge
    McAuley > Komp/Cole/Terry

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i think im leaning more towards A....

for b, doesnt make sense for you to trade jones to vermalean, esp with man u's suspect defence.

for c, it does spread out your resources, but chelsea have an injury crisis now so clean sheets may not be guarantted. man city also havent been keeping alot of clean sheets, and spending 6.4 for a non guaranteed clean sheet is abit exp imo

Seen a lot of people doing, or considering, Ba > Sturridge this week, for a hit even.
Bolton concede just under 3 goals a game at home and Ba has scored 7/assisted 1 in his last 5 home games, surely it can wait a week...?

Some good stats in the Grauniad today:

"Bradley Johnson has committed more fouls without receiving a yellow card than any other top-flight player (18)"

"The visitors [Newcastle] have had five players dismissed so far this campaign, a division high" and "had a player sent off in each of their two games against Bolton last season"

"If Manchester United beat Wigan at Old Trafford on Boxing Day, they will equal their highest ever points total after 18 league games under Sir Alex Ferguson (45)"

I am MM. 4.9 5th MF. Nailed on and on pens.

        Look at it this way:

Dyer and Sinclair - big points difference, but big price difference. All down to one element: penalty duties.

Moses and Gomez is a very similar situation, but Gomez will only cost you .2 more.

Never underestimate penalties, particularly with the new BP system. Just ask Baines' owners.

There is a rules section on fpl website. for every 0.2 your player goes up you will recieve 0.1 if you sell him on. if you buy at 9m and they go up to 9.4m you will receive 9.2m if you sell

because you have kaboul king and bassong and him sharing the games the next couple of weeks, and kaboul and king are higher in the pecking order and with this overloaded fixture list the last thing u want is a rotation prone player

king and kaboul are first choice, king cannot play 2 games a week because his knees swallow, actually he cant train at all, so he plays 1 game and gets 6 days of rest, a unique case for any athlete at this level.
kaboul picked up a hamstring against stoke, but should be back before gw 20
so basically gallas covered for king (bol sto) and covered for kaboul (sun chel)
he wnt make it to the dgw probably

        I'll be WC'ing GW23 hopefully
Thing is, Walker has WBA/EVE/WOL in 2 GW's, considering their home defensive form I can see 3 CS's in a row.
Then GW22 I plan to do a 1 week punt when getting rid of Osman/Drenthe then WC.

If you're right about the CS's, then what is Osman/Drenthe doing in your DGW team? Or are you hoping they go big against BOL and then just pick up an extra 2 points against Spurs?

            That's what I was thinking, yes 😀
That's why I ditched Baines, as he could end up with 0-1 in the entire GW ha, whereas at least Osman should get 4 points which is hardly a bad thing.
Alternatively I could do Vermaelen (ful, swa, MUN) > Walker for free and get Vermaelen back in WC, which as I type seems the obvious thing to do.
Just seems odd no Everton players, but they are pants at the moment.

It's not great. Mata/Nani could outscore Osman or Drenthe despite Everton's double, especially once you deduct 4 points. Simpson to Walker is good but I'm guessing you can't afford it.

Yeah the Osman/Drenthe is to free the cash.
As I said above, I can see 3 CS's in 2 GW's for Walker, and with Osman playing OOP I don't think he's a bad shout, plus given Mata's away form aswell as me having Sturridge made me thing he'd be the obvious transfer 😕

Just looked at your team, it's difficult to fit an Everton mid in since you have a quality midfield. The only alternative I can think of is Verm to Walker and Moses to Drenthe/Osman but on second thoughts that gives you a big problem on who to bench.

Since you've brought Sturridge in maybe go with your plan and take Mata out over Nani. Bit surprised to see you selling Mata though after all the love you've given him on here 🙂

Haha it would only be for a week or three 😀
But nah, I think I may just go without Everton players and do the Vermaelen > Walker for free, as you said, the midfield could score more than Drenthe/Osman despite playing one less game, cheers man.

Just looking at Arsenal's fixtures they have two away games then Man Utd from GW20-22. Verm looks expendable for that period.

        Agree with Harris.

Other than that Sorenson looks good gk to have with stokes next few fixtures, shotton also but doubling up on stoke def maybe not the best. Having said that I would do Tierney > Evans as Norwich don't look like getting a clean sheet from anywhere (and I'm a Norwich fan!).

Mid I would do Arteta to somebody cheep - tiote now he's fit, Surman (although he may not keep his place long term), etc. You've currently got 4 'premium' midfielders and Walters, whos a great midprice. I'd say you only need 3 premium and a midprice at most.

Up front this would allow you to get an Aguero at least, if possibly not enough for Rooney.

Alternatively you could do Arteta to Drenthe, keep that very strong mid until the next wildcard

Sorry, pressed post too soon by mistake!

If you did Arteta - Drenthe then you could get Ade in for Yak. Also I imagine Arteta - Larson would allow you to get Ade, but Sunderland have man city and Chelsea in dec - eve have mainly good fixtures until feb and Drenthe gets the dgw.

          Hope this helps!

Mata's such a frustrating player to own as he's not getting the returns to justify the hefty price. I might just do Mata to Valencia but I have a strong feeling that Rooney's going to explode against Wigan this week, really want him in my side this week.

He definitely will not be rushed back this time. Best scenario is half an hour in GW19 then a start in the DGW after a little rest. I am certainly planning to ensure I can get him if needs be.

ok assuming all is well between now and dgw how does this sound?

    GW19 - Do nothing (i.e. save transfer)

    GW20 - Valencia ➡ Drenthe/Rodwell/Fellaini/Osman and Ba ➡ Ade for no hit.

You won't be able to save the transfer if you already have 2 as 2 is the most ft you're allowed in any gameweek.

I would say good transfers to do, but only if you have other man u attacking cover. I.e. Roonpig or the Nanster.
