Scoring goals is often cited as the most difficult task for promoted teams to achieve in their first season in the Premier League. Norwich City have had little trouble however, with striker Steve Morison one of the key factors behind their success.

Paul Lambert’s side have netted in all but two of their Premier League games so far this season, including their last ten matches – an amazing feat, that betters many of the established sides. The calibre of opponent during this time is also impressive; the Canaries have notched goals at Anfield, the Etihad Stadium and Stamford Bridge, as well as scoring against Newcastle and Arsenal.

Morison’s consistency during his first season in the top flight has been extraordinary, and with home games against Spurs and Fulham, and an away trip to QPR to come over the festive period, the former Millwall striker is undoubtedly worthy of his high Watchlist ranking.

Currently toiling alongside club skipper Grant Holt in a 4-4-2, when Lambert does tinker, he seems to favour the mobility of Morison over skipper Holt when adopting the 4-5-1 formation. Morison began the season playing a bit part role, but since Liverpool away at the end of October, he has failed to complete 90 minutes only once – he looks the more secure option of the two Norwich marksmen.

Morison has recorded five goals and two assists in his last eight games, with the gameweek 13 win over QPR his only blank. That’s a record that belies his price tag. Indeed, as well as his impressive form, Morison’s Fantasy Premier League (FPL) price of only 5.0 means that he can most definitely be classed as exceptional value for money. Morison is currently second only to Demba Ba in the FPL “Value” stakes amongst the forwards, but Ba will set you back 2.5 more than the Norwich man.

With the inevitable team rotation from the top teams over the Christmas period, Morison offers a cheap, secure third striker option that’s seems almost guaranteed to deliver points each gameweek – a precious commodity during this uncertain festive spell.

Right, I got an unexpected £15 tax repayment yesterday. It's all going on one bet, any ideas for what I should I gamble it on in this weeks games? Only condition is it must involve one or more of my players scoring

    Verm, Jones, Enrique
    Silva, Nani, Mata, HBA
    RVP, Ade, Ba

I'm thinking a record breaking hat trick for captain Van Persie but the 12/1 odds I've seen do not please me.

I was thinking about Verm. The prospect of a £1k return is very nice. Until RVP scores first and ruins it.

Might go for it. Any other ideas?

Help guys, need to get Nani in but don't know how! Have 2 free:

    Vorm (Given)
    Brown, Jones, Simpson (Gabbidon, Tierney)
    Sinclair, Walters, Bale, Silva (Johnson)
    Ade, RVP, Rooney

    Only options I can see are Jones/Bale -> J.Evans/Nani
or maybe downgrade Ade -> ? and Bale to Nani...

    Cheers all and Merry Christmas!

The problem is finding the funds to fit Nani into that team. Rooney could outscore him, RVP is RVP, Ade has a DGW and Silva has risen 1m in price. If he bought Silva for a high price then Silva to Nani is the way to go.

Nani is essential, Rooney is not as good value. Sturridge is matching his scoring for 5m cheaper. I have the same front 3, but also Nani, Silva, Bale. Going to do Rooney -> Sturridge at the wildcard, and get in Mata aswell.

Hmmm, true, but shifting Rooney seems like a bit much and would lose 0.5m on shifting Silva, could lose Bale for a couple of weeks and get him back if I downgrade Jones to Evans but otherwise I see no other way around this.

    Captain GMWK 18:
    Nani - WIG
    + Nani in form
+ Wigan conceded 14 goals away from home
+ Wigan played 1 game AWAY to a top 4 team (City), lost 3-0
    - Wigan got 9 points from a possible 18 in last 6 games

    Ba - bol
    + Ba in form
+ Bolton conceded 21 at home
    - Bolton off the back of a win
    - Newcastle only scored 11 goals away from home this season

    RVP - WOL
+ RVP scored 15 in last 12 games
    + RVP wants the record
+ Everything Arsenal does comes through him
+ Wolves conceded 17 in 8 away games = 2 goals conceded per game = RVP couple of goals
+ Wolves away games vs top 5 teams - conceded 12 in 4 games
    - Wolves may park the bus (pack defense)

So looking at stats RVP is the best candidate for this week.

Even when Wolves try to "Park the bus" they seem to suck even more. Mick is incapable of doing this from a 0-0 scoreline; and he can't stop himself from pushing buttons when he does get down at least one. Only time he's traditionally tried to do this is when someone gets sent off. Besides, Arsenal have done a great job of not monopolizing possession and rope-a-doping teams into letting the use their speed for counters which is where Arsenals success will lie this season.

Nah, went the easy way out and went Bale instead of milking my brain for a possibly brilliant one week choice (Adam Johnson, Maxi, Giggsy, Etherington).

Dumped him for Valencia and tripled up on MU for the next two for a 4pt hit. Plan to get him or Bale back for GW20 if either are fit

Rafael van der Vaart is set to feature for Spurs against Norwich on Tuesday after his hamstring injury proved less serious than first feared

    SIGH.

Already got Bale in now, maybe I shouldn't have transferred early.

I think seeing his price drop AGAIN finally got to me so I shipped out just before the last fall. Would be very fitting if he should score a massive haul now that we've all shipped.. no regrets though. The uncertainty was too much.

    Front 8 of:
    Silva Bale Sinclair Larsson Moses
    RVP Ade Ba

Really tempted by Utd - thinking of:

    Silva > Nani
    Ba > Rooney
(would cost 4pts and lose £0.5m on Silva)

Should I just do Ba > Rooney for now? I just think Nani will outscore Silva in the next 4 weeks before WC.

I'm leaning to Nani over RVP still at the moment.

Only team Arse have scored more than 2 against is Wigan in last 6.

Although I don't doubt that RVP will score just think Nani could quiet easily get 2 and be involved in assists.

Thats my problem at the moment. Its either play it safe and get the same amount of points as everyone else, OR gamble Nani with everything to gain and everything to lose.

starting to think doubling and tripling on tottenham for DGW is a bad idea especially that vdv is out…im not a fan of Tottenham defensively…Ade is the only must have for DGW, Bale maybe but what do you think of a punt on Modric?

I think its worth investing in Spurs defence for the dgw. Bale, Ade and either Gallas, BAE or Friedel.

I'm thinking of getting in Friedel next GW and playing him for GW19 and 20.

Drenthe is the only Everton player I want for the double.
