Scoring goals is often cited as the most difficult task for promoted teams to achieve in their first season in the Premier League. Norwich City have had little trouble however, with striker Steve Morison one of the key factors behind their success.

Paul Lambert’s side have netted in all but two of their Premier League games so far this season, including their last ten matches – an amazing feat, that betters many of the established sides. The calibre of opponent during this time is also impressive; the Canaries have notched goals at Anfield, the Etihad Stadium and Stamford Bridge, as well as scoring against Newcastle and Arsenal.

Morison’s consistency during his first season in the top flight has been extraordinary, and with home games against Spurs and Fulham, and an away trip to QPR to come over the festive period, the former Millwall striker is undoubtedly worthy of his high Watchlist ranking.

Currently toiling alongside club skipper Grant Holt in a 4-4-2, when Lambert does tinker, he seems to favour the mobility of Morison over skipper Holt when adopting the 4-5-1 formation. Morison began the season playing a bit part role, but since Liverpool away at the end of October, he has failed to complete 90 minutes only once – he looks the more secure option of the two Norwich marksmen.

Morison has recorded five goals and two assists in his last eight games, with the gameweek 13 win over QPR his only blank. That’s a record that belies his price tag. Indeed, as well as his impressive form, Morison’s Fantasy Premier League (FPL) price of only 5.0 means that he can most definitely be classed as exceptional value for money. Morison is currently second only to Demba Ba in the FPL “Value” stakes amongst the forwards, but Ba will set you back 2.5 more than the Norwich man.

With the inevitable team rotation from the top teams over the Christmas period, Morison offers a cheap, secure third striker option that’s seems almost guaranteed to deliver points each gameweek – a precious commodity during this uncertain festive spell.

RVP. Or, RVP. Then again, you might consider RVP.

For the love of Footy, until he's reached the record, captain RVP.

      .

Psst: Last night, Katie told me to (C) RVP. 😉

VDV will always have hamstring problems, especially during a demanding PL season. While the hamstring is not a tear he will always be susceptible to strains or worse so you have to go with Bale who is fit and plays 90 mins.

Huth that's a no-brainer, more nailed on and more of a goal threat

No because he lacks pace, he needs 9 to carry him and needs hundreds others to do the work for him. Also he only shows up once a year however he does do a lot when he shows up, Bit of a berbatov

People keep selling Silva and Mata just before Man City to play WBA and Chelsea have a home game with Fulham.. 🙂

I just can't see myself selling Silva anytime soon. Had him from the start and the hit to team value is too much to take. He just keeps rolling in with those 3s 6s 7s and 8s

Selling Silva is a risk- but Nani does have better fixtures. And Mata was, is and always will be overpriced.

Same to you Aguerolicious. Having a great day, but up since 6.15 with the 4yr old and 2 yr old. Wifey is 8 months pregnant , so I'm doing dinner as we speak before a trip to the in laws...phew!
Thankfully preggers wife = designated driver...so I've put away a few beverages at least!

Happy crimbo everyone. This is my first post, though have been doing FPL for 3 seasons.

    Thinking about either;
    1. Nani and Morrison in for Walters and Ade
    2. Nani and Evans in for Bale and Jones
    3. Leave it as it is

    Vorm (Krul)
    Jones Kompany Enrique Vermaelen
    Silva Bale Walters
    Ba RVP Ade

    subs - Drenthe, Simpson, Gomez

Cheers FOREST4LIFE. I brought in Gomez 2 gw's ago as a differential (in mini league) and for good form.

Way too much £ in your back line. I'd ditch a defender to get Nani in, without losing Bale.

Agree with the expense of the back line, but was trying to be different to other teams in mini league, which all have the likes of Bale, Silva and Nani.

Not much wrong with these transfers except that you will have only 2 for DGW. I presume you have 2 FTs. If you can afford it Ba > Sturridge seems to be the popular move. Would Ba> Morrison, Walters >Nani work?

Will be doing Ba > Sturridge next GW. Cannot afford Ba>Morrison, Walters>Nani. Think I'll have another look at it later as the noise of 4 kids (under 5) are doing my head in!!
