Rouse yourself from the brandy butter haze – there’s a gameweek to deal with. With three deadlines in the next six days, this is just the start of a frenzy of activity that threatens to separate the men from the boys – our Matchday Surgery chatroom is now open to guide you through.

Despite the distractions from relatives and TV repeats, as always, our eyes have remained on the prize. We’ve delivered our player recommendations via the Scout Picks, Big Dunc has served up some Christmas Differentials and the Watchlist has been refreshed with candidates put forward for your consideration. The Captain Poll in the middle column offers a view on the armband dilemma and in just a bit, we’ll take in some air and give our final thoughts via the Preamble.

Absorb that lot, gather your thoughts and join the throngs in the Matchday Surgery.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

As long as he keeps playing in the whole behind Saha, the same role Cahill was in last season, Osman will be a good shout.

    El Gornal Galacticos
    His team
    Vorm
    Wilkinson Jones Enrique
    Silva Valencia Bale Sinclair
    RVP Aguero Adebayor

Then you have a good chance because neither De Laet nor Simpson will keep cleanies while Kompany might just sneak one against West Brom. And also Nani ≥ Valencia and Walters ≥ Sinclair. Keep your fingers crossed.

nani can always score points. Going back to previous seasons nani like the right. Got pushed off it by Valencia. The reason Rooney hasn't been getting the points he should is because he has been getting no service at all. Things will change. Nani will still do well of course and could still score big but not worth nearly 3mil more than valencia with Roonpig on form.

Some x-mas maths for everyone's gain:

Team A and Team B both have 0.3 chance of keeping a clean sheet.

Which has the higher chance of points, and how many points:

    1) Two players from Team A
    2) One player from Team A and one from Team B

(if you are sharp this morning, you will see that I am challenging the "dont double up on defenders" notion/myth)

You should pick two defenders from one team. There's a 0.3 chance that both of them will get the CS-points. But a 0.3*0.3 chance that the defenders from both Team A and Team B will get a Clean sheet.

However, doubling up on defenders with those same probabilities of conceding means there's a 0.7 chance of no CS. But, when choosing from different teams there's only a 0.49 chance of not conceding.

      Open Controls
    5. Nomar
      • 16 Years

Obviously doubling has the greater chance of success.

Both Team A and Team B could concede, so picking one from each has a smaller probability of getting the maximum score since the odds are that one of those teams will concede.

However, Team A has the same chance of a clean sheet as Team B, so if we assume that it's Team B that concedes then team A will be the one that keeps the cleanie.

Therefore, by doubling up on team A you are maximising your potential for 2 cleanies and maximum points.

Of course, a defender from Team B could score, like McAuley last week, and completely screw up that theory for ya...

My FPL cup opponent has quite a decent team .. though he is ranked 1.9M .. He hasnt got any united or arsenal coverage in his team ..
    his team :
    Vorm
    ShawX Enrique Lescott
    Bale Ramsey Silva Walters
    Adebayor Sturridge Aguero

    Subs- Walker ,Moses,gower

    My team

    Vorm
    Enrique Vermaelen Evans Naylor
    Bale Nani VDV
    Suarez RVP(c) Sturridge

    Subs- Brunt,Simpson,ferguson

Who do you reckon has a better chance ??

    My team -

B*llocks. So you've got rid of Nani to do this? Trying too hard to be interesting.

RVP if you are doing well in your mini leagues
Nani if you want to make a slight gamble
      (in my opinion)
