Gareth Bale saves the gameweek, as Tottenham’s 2-0 win draws things to a close. Time for us to round things up, rummaging through the Opta data to pick out the statistics that matter, taking a punt at the Fantasy Premier League bonus points along the way…

How much of a hit are people willing to take for the DGW?? I will have 2 FTs going into it and am considering making 4 changes, taking an 8 pt hit. Worth it or am I putting too much focus on one extra game between Spurs and Everton?
Changes I'm looking to do are:
Simpson -> Jags
Brown -> BAE
Sturridge -> Ade
Silva-> Osman (need to drop Silva to make money for the other 3 changes).
Already have Bale.Open Controls-
try to add Ade or BAE. What is rest of team
Open Controls-
Current team is:
Vorm (Hennessy)
Jones, Enrique, Shotton (Brown, Simpson)
Silva, Nani, Walters, Bale (Ferguson)
Sturridge, RVP, Rooney
0.4 mil in bank so not easy to get Ade and BAE in, maybe drop Rooney to free up cash?Open Controls-
Either that or Walters--->Osman or Jones/Enrique--->BAE
Open Controls-
Yep Walters -> Osman could work alright. Don't really want to drop Jones or Enrique as I got them cheap, would be difficult to get them back in afterwards. Could maybe do Walters -> Drenthe and Brown to Jags (assuming no price rises between now and next gameweek that works out).
Open Controls-
loosing rooney could be an option then as he you would find it easier to get him back on WC (assuming you lose less on Rooney than Enrique or Jones)

gonna have 2 frees, will just use them to get 1 more Spurs player (VdV or Ade) in an one Everton (Osman, Drenthe or Donovan)
Open Controls -
People get burned by DGWs every season. In the three games, there will probably be no clean sheets, three own goals, a couple of missed penalties and RVP will score as many points in his one game as all three Spurs players manage in both games.
Open Controls-
+1, it's only one game unlike last season where more games were played.

Captain hindsight here: You don't want to panic buy into the double game week. You should already have a player or two who is likely to do well (e.g. Bale, Adebayor, BAE, etc) or have held back on other knee jerk transfers so that you can do 2 for free.
Open Controls-
Cheers for all the comments, ok will hold off going mad and taking an 8 pt hit! Will see what I can do with the 2 FTs.

Who would you pick between Sturridge and Valencia? I already have Nani, and no Chelsea coverage. They're looking pretty toothless right now though.
Open Controls-
Who would you be dropping to get Sturridge in? Chelsea have some lovely fixtures coming up over next 5 gameweeks, I think you need to have some coverage.
Open Controls -
Sturridge
Open Controls-
you guys really think sturridge will do better? Ba has showed he can score against the best and worst teams in the EPL. now when he gets called to ACON i can understand but thats not coming for a couple weeks right?
Open Controls-
January 15th latest I heard. But NEW fixtures are getting worse, not sure about NEW supply (esp against SWA at home) and surely he can't keep up this form - probably going to regress to the mean, I dunno, a goal every two games max?

If you had a totally free choice, which three Spurs players would you have for the DGW?
Open Controls -
City playing Liverpool 2 days after Sunderland. Surely Mancini will have to rest the likes of Aguero and Silva next GW?
Open Controls -
Can someone give me some reassurance that Evans and Larsson ---> BAE and Drenthe is a good move in mind of DGW?
Open Controls -
need sum guidance here guys,
current team looks like this
friedel (vorm)
walker shawX jones (simpson j.enrique)
walters nani larsson bale (gomez)
ba rvp aguero
who to play, thinking on nani as CapOpen Controls -
Is Ba-Morrison, Larsson-Bale and Brown-Shotton worth a 4 pt hit??
Open Controls-
Bale alone is worth it.
Open Controls

Looking like I'm probably only going to have Drenthe for the double from Everton. Have Bale and Adebayor already, 1.1m in the bank so I can't get BAE and an Everton defender without getting rid of Jones or Enrique, both I'd lose 0.4m on and it doesn't seem worth it.
Open Controls -
Guess I was wrong with Dhoni. 🙂
Open Controls-
Laziest shot. Something I'd expect from OUR number 7.
Open Controls

This is a tough one for me, to raise funds for the obligatory Ba --> Adebayor transfer and gaining other Tottenham coverage in the progress
Nani --> VDV (one week only)
or
Jones --> BAEOpen Controls -
Hilfy Hilfy Hilfy!
Open Controls-
Gettin' it done. Pattinson has been a little unlucky this innings. I'd like to see him knock over a couple of tail-enders.

This is a good plan...right?
Howard (Vorm)
McAuley, Wilko, Jones (BAE, Brown)
Walters, Nani, Silva, Drenthe (Formica)
Rooney (c), RVP, Sturridge
GW19.....No transfers
GW20.....Walters to Bale and Rooney to Adebayor
That gives me 0.4 to absorb Bale/ Ade potential price rises this weekOpen Controls -
You all realize that, just like this gameweek, the DGW will be a total disappointment, right? Spurs and Toffees will fail, Bale and Ade will get injured, and Baines will miss a penalty.
Open Controls -
Habsi
Jones, Enrique, Simpson
Walters, Bale, Silva, Nani (vc)
Adebayor, Ba, RVP (c)
Subs: Vorm, Sinclair, Evans, Caulker
1 FT, 0.1m in the bank
Any suggestions please?
I'm thinking Jones out (before he drops in price) for Walker in....Open Controls -
Ramsey to Drenthe this week or next? Ars have QPR at home while Everton have WBA but Ramsey may not start and has done nothing for months. Thoughts?
Open Controls-
I would keep for this week, he was rested today and will be fresh and ready to go against QPR
Open Controls-
Yeah I am tempted. But I think his starting place may be under threat with Benayoun and Rosicky outperforming him recently. If it was my choice, as an Arsenal fan, I'd drop him for a few games.
Open Controls-
I can see your point, though I think Arsene fancies him and he made a real impact coming on today

So, regarding all the "Ba > Sturridge" talk:
I'm leaning towards keeping Ba all the way until he leaves for ACON, his form is just too good to turn down. The decision may be partly affected by already owning Mata, but still...
What do we think?Open Controls -
Should I do Walters -> Bale this week or just take a chance on Bale not rising another 0.2 this week.. I will have to do 2 transfers to accomodate Bale if he does..
Not an ideal week to be losing Walters either though..Open Controls-
Get Bale if i were you, Walters is just a lummox
Open Controls-
+1
Open Controls -
I'm the opposite to SD. Keep Walters for WIG and then get Bale for DGW (it's what I'm doing) Bale prob won't rise 0.3
Open Controls -
Walters is a great points scorer in FPL, just look at the stats.
I am keeping big John till after the Wigan game.
Bale has Swansea away so not an easy gameOpen Controls-
Spurs will still win IMO. I reckon that Swansea home record could look a fair bit different this time next month. They've done admirably but Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea all due up there soon
Open Controls

People only get Walters for pens and the odd goal. People get Bale for massive assists and goals from skilling defenders. Get Bale if you can.
Open Controls

Get him in now...Walters hasn't done much as of late and Bale is on fire

Transfer shambles last week. Only just brought JEvans in, but thinking he's gonna have to go this week. 1 freebie and 0.0m in the bank - any better moves than JEvans -> Shotton for me? Would then be able to field:
Ruddy
Vermaelen, Shotton, Wilko
Nani, Silva, Ramsey, Sinclair
RVP(c), Adebayor, Rooney(vc)
Westwood, Reo-Coker, Simpson, CaulkerOpen Controls-
Evans > BAE for me i think
Open Controls-
-
I really should read better! Shotton looks a decent shout. Was one of the better Stoke players last night IMO and may even have some attacking potential playing on the right of midfield. His versatility should help him stay in the starting XI too
Open Controls

-
-
Sounds reasonable
Open Controls
-
-
Apologies if this has been covered a million times already but BAE wasn't injured tonight was he? Saw he went off after Spurs went 2-0 up but didn't see if he took a heavy tackle or summat before that?
Open Controls -
Do you think Jones is going to play against Blackburn?
Open Controls -
i wanted to get bale.. the only way is to downgrade jones to get bale.. worth it??
Open Controls-
Yes. Wait on Evans injury news but Jones > Evans looks like the way forward.
Open Controls-
-
I'm not convinced Evans going off was much of an injury problem, he was taken off at halftime in a match United were winning comfortably against 10 men, they couldn't afford any more CB injuries, and Fergie has come out with a dodgy weeks prediction that is traditionally unreliable. Keep an open mind for the Blackburn match.
Open Controls-
-
Yeah, in CM with Evans at CB, would suit United who played a makeshift mid against Wigan with seemingly Park, Giggs and Nani drifting in and out of CB in his absence... then again, can never be sure with SAF.

From past experiences, getting people in for the DGW isn't really necessary esp. if hefty hits are needed. I'll probably go in with just 2 or 3 players and as long as dempsey isn't involved, I probably won't lose much (if any) ground. Loading up on Everton players is certainly not a good idea.
Open Controls-
The thing is with this one, you can use your wildcard straight away so for some people to try and catch up it may be worth overloading and hoping for the best.
I won't be going 6/6
Probably 4/6 MAYBE 5/6Open Controls-
+1 3/3 Spurs and 1/3 Everton is probably the best given the two teams.
Currently on Bale, Ade, BAE and Drenthe.Open Controls

Evening. Would appreciate any thoughts on this:
Before GW19:
Eagles->Drenthe
No hit
Before GW20:
Rooney->Sturridge
Ferguson->VDV
No hit
Team ATM:
Vorm/Krul
Komany/Enrique/Jones/Shotton/N. Taylor
Silva/Bale/Walters/Eagles/Ferguson
RVP/Adebayor/Rooney
0.8 in the bank
2 free transfersOpen Controls-
Seems sensible enough. Definitely don't do a double transfer this week in case you need to sub out any injured players next week.
Open Controls

Is it confirmed when Ba will leave for ACON - before/after the QPR game?
Open Controls-
After UTD game. Before QPR
Open Controls

Howard
Brown BAE Jones
Nani Silva Walters Larsson
Ba RVP Ade
Subs: Vorm, Moses Naylor, Simpson
2fts and 0 in the bank.. In need of Bale so thinking Brown-Shotton and Ba-Morrison to make the cash to go Larsson-Bale for a hit. Thoughts??Open Controls-
Yup get him asap, he will rise and rise and rise and rise and rise........
All those people who got rid around the SUN game will be crawling back in the Balewagon 😉Open Controls

GW19: Naylor to McAuley.
GW20: Silva to VDV & Ba to Agbonlahor.
Thoughts?
Team:
Howard, Vorm.
Naylor, Walker, Enrique, Young, Brown.
Silva, Bale, Drenthe, Walters, Surman.
Rooney, Ba, RVP.Open Controls-
Ba to Agbon?! I know Villa have nice fixtures but still, come on!
Open Controls -
silva is dominating right now and VDV just came back from yet another gameweek. Also agbonlahor hasn't been producing the goods lately. I would wait and see if VDV picks it up because silva is dominating and if anything i would do ba to sturridge.

3 Spurs (Have: Bale, BAE. Will get Adebayor), maybe 0 Everton. Not convinced by the Drenthe mania yet.
