Gareth Bale gives his Fantasy owners some belated festive cheer with a brace at Carrow Road. In a gameweek that promised so much but ultimately delivered little, Michel Vorm concedes a rare goal at home, while even armband favourite Robin Van Persie forgets to read the script and returns no more than a couple of points. Let’s get this over with…

Gareth Bale
The Welshman proved the difference in Spurs’ trip to Norwich last night, grabbing both goals in his side’s 2-0 win to at least put some sort of positive spin on this gameweek. Bale has now equalled his goals haul (7) from last term in just seventeen appearances and has already doubled the number of assists from 3 to 6. It’s near certain he’ll grab the maximum bonus too, taking him to 13; he was awarded 12 last time round. With every passing gameweek, he’s continued to rack up the points with ridiculous ease and has either scored or assisted in seven of his last eight appearances. Even at 8.9, he seems an absolute bargain but with the double gameweek on the horizon, his price seems set to rise for the foreseeable future.

Emmanuel Adebayor
Once again, the on-loan Man City player got amongst the points for Harry Redknapp’s side. Adebayor’s dancing feet in the home side’s box brilliantly set up Bale for the Spurs opener and his assist continues one of the most consistent runs of Fantasy form this season; the Togo international has now scored, assisted or returned bonus in twelve of his fifteen games this term. In spite of this, he’s still only owned by 18% of Fantasy managers, 6% less than Luis Suarez, but with West Brom, Everton, Wolves and Wigan all at the Lane in the next five gameweeks, plenty more suitors will be jumping aboard the bandwagon, particularly in light of the afore-mentioned double gameweek.

Rafael Van der Vaart
The news of his inclusion in the starting XI would have given his Fantasy owners plenty optimism but the Dutchman once again failed to deliver. While Bale and Adebayor continue to produce the goods, Van der Vaart has just a single assist to his name since the end of gameweek 10. Down to just 7% ownership, he could prove a decent differential in the upcoming double gameweek but priced at 9.7, there’s no doubt he’s struggling to justify his place in Fantasy teams, particularly with cheaper and more consistent options available in the Tottenham first-team.

Steven Fletcher
While many of us waited fruitlessly on the usual double-figure points haul from Robin Van Persie, it was the Wolves forward who stole the limelight by grabbing a crucial equaliser. Fletcher was fielded as a lone forward and his Emirates goal – his seventh of the campaign – again highlighted his tendency to produce the goods when least expected. The Scotsman has also netted against the likes of Liverpool, Newcastle and Man United but with Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool to come again in the next five, Wolves will be reliant on him to continue a run of form that has harvested 4 goals in his last 5 games.

Stephen Hunt
The Irishman seems to have stepped up his game of late. Hunt, having provided the ball for Fletcher’s goal, has now scored or assisted in each of his last three games. Given that he had previously failed to produce attacking points in back-to-back gameweeks prior to this run, it’s an indication of his displays and particularly pleasing for Mick McCarthy, given that Jamie O’Hara is currently sidelined with a hernia injury. With Bolton having lost eight of their nine games at home, a visit to the Reebok on New Year’s Eve will hold no fear for the Midlanders.

Yossi Benayoun
Arsene Wenger made four changes to the side that started against Aston Villa, with Benayoun replacing Aaron Ramsey in midfield. The Israeli – in his first start of the season- followed up his late winner at Villa Park with an early assist for Gervinho’s opener, lasting just over an hour before being replaced. With Gervinho’s departure to the African Cup of Nations just around the corner, Benayoun could continue to gather the game time as Wenger looks to rest and rotate over a hectic winter period. It’s perhaps a worry for Ramsey’s Fantasy owners, though; yesterday was the first time the Welshman didn’t make the starting XI, when available.

Wayne Routledge
Over the last few weeks, he seems to have made a strong case for a permanent role on the right wing for Swansea. Nathan Dyer has suffered through loss of form and injury of late, though a comparison of the pair’s stats is revealing. Dyer started the first thirteen games of the season and failed to pick up a single assist; Routledge, on the other hand, has provided 3 assists in his last five appearances, including the ball for Danny Graham’s opener against QPR yesterday evening.

Jamie Mackie
He’s been flying under the radar of late since recovering from a long-term absence due to a broken leg. While Heidar Helguson has hogged most of the headlines, Mackie has grabbed 2 goals and 2 assists, spread over four of his last seven games. Yesterday’s leveller saw him score in back-to-back matches and means he is only the second away player, aside from Javier Hernandez, to beat Michel Vorm at the Liberty Stadium.

I'd have a look at bringing in the likes of BAE, can you raise funds by doing something like Dyer to Gower then Simpson or Brown to BAE?

Yeah not bad bit hungover today though, yourself? I'd get Shotton if I was 80% sure he's going to start every week, but I'm not. I got suckered twice by Stoke this season (Woodgate and Wilkinson) so I'm reluctant to get done a third time.

Berba is far too casual for Newcastle! Also doth not covet our Tony V or Sir Phillip of Jones.

Macheda would do alright at the Toon i reckon. Fergie for some reason keeps playing him on the left wing, where he's hopeless. Stick him in the box, playing off Ba and he'd score a lot of goals.

No he isn't. He's getting a good run in the side, partly because of his form, partly because TP had a bust up with Pennant.

I wouldn't expect him to keep his place in the side for much longer, youngsters never do at Stoke.

Absolutely not to Berbatov, he will be used sparingly, Rooney will start on New Years day and either Welbeck or Pea will too.

I would stick with Rooney to be honest, he could have had a goal with the pen he left Berbatov take, and I still think he will maintain his current purple patch.

      this for lazy buggers:
United's injury list has been mounting by the game of late, but Sir Alex hopes to be able to call upon the services of Jones and Smalling against Rovers folllowing further setbacks for Rio Ferdinand and Jonny Evans, who is likely to be out for two weeks with a calf injury.

I've thought about it. Got him at 9.5, would lose .5 of value.. I have Mata. He's definitely about as valuable as Silva IMO. Valencia is more risky in terms of rotation, but right now, seems like he's playing the best out of these 3. I'd venture a look at the upcoming fixtures before doing something crazy like this.

I'm getting rid for Bale next week.
      My reasons are:

      1. I can go without City to the wildcard, which I'm doing GW22
      2. I'm going to get 0.5 of actual money to help me get a better team in the wildcard
      3. When games go back to one a week Aguero will get more starts and be rotated less meaning he will get more points than Silva for 0.6m more. In other words Aguero is a better fantasy prospect than Silva.

I agree with you about Aguero, I think he's the man to have from City's attack, only 0.6 dearer than Silva but he's nailed on and more explosive. Problem with Silva is that his ownership is so high that when he gets a big score it really hurts your rank.

    Hey all,
Does anyone know for a double game week if the goalies saves are added together for the two games, i.e. if Friedel makes 5 saves vs West Brom and then 1 save vs Everton, does that equal 6 saves, i.e. 2 save points, or is it just one save point for the first game and none for the second? I can't remember what happened in this situation in previous seasons...!

    Or other? Team linked.

    Krul,, Vorm

    Naylor, Jones, Kompany, Enrique, Simpson

    Sinclair, Silva, Nani, Bale, B.Johnson

    Van P, Ada, Morison

2 free transfers, 0.0 in the bank.

I want to get rid of Johnson, he's 4.7 so a straight swap for Victor Moses? Reo-Coker? I'm not sure what to do with him.

As for the rest of my team, I'm not sure who to change. I'm a bit restless though, I don't want to lose transfers by not using them, also with the wildcard coming up I feel the urge to do something. Any thoughts on wild manic changes?

Interesting, I could swap out Sinclair for him and make 0.3 mil. Their fixtures look good, and I'm not too attached to Sinclair. Then again, in the past 14 gameweeks, he's only played more than 60 minutes 5 times.

    Might rise tonight

It's all about captain this week I reckon! I know every week the difference can easily be a captain choice but for me the obvious choices may be a risk due to rotation and so a differential captain may be the best idea this week. Could be dangerous though

yeah, he had a bit of a rest at the end of the last game so if it's between a likely-to-be-rested RVP and unlikely-to-be-rested Nani, got to be the latter.

Here's my squad. Suggestions for transfers for next gameweek, or should I leave as is for the moment? Got one free transfer and 0.5 in the bank. I do need to bring in another Tottenham player for the double gameweek following this week.

    Ruddy, Vorm
    Kompany, Simpson, Enrique, Caulker, Jones
    Silva, Bale, Nani, Johnson, Gomez
    Ba, Adebayor, Van Persie

Broke into the top 10k this week. Now sitting at 9287. Pretty chuffed with that.
