Arsene Wenger is giving little away regarding the likelihood of Robin Van Persie’s start against QPR. Meanwhile, Alex Ferguson prepares to patch up his defence once again ahead of the visit of Blackburn, with Chris Smalling set to miss out and Phil Jones in line to return.

There’s no such injury concerns for Roberto Mancini, who will surely be shuffling his pack like a demented Paul Daniels ahead of two matches in the space of six days. The rest of the Premier League managers are left to play with far more limited options, but Fantasy managers still look set to enter a gameweek of uncertainty – nervously scanning their bench to assess the reserves on standby.

    All this talk of RVP is getting annoying. Yes he might be rested if Wenger thinks he is tired and Arsenal can win without him. All the other arguments being put forward are pure speculation.

    No one can say for certain that he is more injury prone than any other player in the league who will be playing 90 mins in each of the three games in quick succession. For all we know he has been unlucky with past injuries - this is what Wenger has stated in the past.
